  • Installing a PROFORM mini high torque starter. Had some issues with fitment and the directions that came with the starter. Headers were in the way and had to install spacers to get the right flexplate to starter gear clearance. Hopefully this helps others that are trying to install a mini starter.

Is there a video of you actually starting this specific starter??? I just about one, hoping it give my ride the right start up sound I’m looking for?

This starter is on the 70 Camaro. Any video of it starting it will have this starter on it. This is the latest video of it starting. ruclips.net/video/kHh9Kv--N8U/видео.html

Do you really notice a difference with a reduction gear starter? A buddy of mine was saying he gets his starters and alternators from Mean Green. My Suburban's starter is acting up, so I may need to work on that soon. I know I need a higher output alternator in that truck, too.

I think you will only notice the gear reduction starter if you have a high compression motor. This car is suppose to have the original 70 motor with the Z28 cam. Should have at least 10.25:1 compression. We bought a high torque starter for one of our tractors and it really turns the motor over way better than the old starter did.

Just seeing your video. How well did it hold up? My remanufactured stock starter just burned the solenoid. So I'm thinking this starter might be the ticket? Just gotta find out what bolt pattern I have?

if you have 168 tooth you must use a staggerd bolt pattern starter with my 1970 LT1 z28 had to have a starter with 3 bolt holes on the starter. if you need to get the ring gear closer shim one side of the starter. Larry B

most mini starters are universal if they have the 3 bolt holes the have 10 teeth so they will work 153 or 168

For sbc 168 tooth offset mount starter replacement, go get a starter for a 2004 chevy avalanche 8.1L and a few shims for the starter and bolts $90 mini starter with a lifetime warranty...
