These are great ideas. My father in law taught me about the paint brush method of spinning a clean paint brush in a can. Except he used his hands. I used it many times. And it saved a lot of time.
As far as wrapping tape around the end of a caulking tube is concerned, all ya gotta do is cut ur tubes 2 fit INSIDE the upper level of the crack/crevice ur caulting by bevel cutting (leaving a smaller opening) & also beveling the outer sides of the tip
When you cut the bolt off and grind down the end to fix the threads to use the bolt, grind a flat end and match the angle of the thread. Much better results.
