I've been watching for many years and I always find your adventures so inspiring. It's so great to see your channel grow, Dan!
That comment about the limited choices "due to free upgrades' seems unfair - not only because you should be treated the same in business class whether you got in with points or cash, but because imagine if you'd paid the full business price and you had a limited on board experience because of that?
They plan how much food to put onboard well prior to boarding.
If too many people upgrade just prior to boarding, the food especially the upgraded options will be limited as they don’t want to waste food and money. Or time to scramble last minute to get more food just in case someone who they didn’t know was planning to sit in business class wants something else.
I work as cabin crew for a subsidiary of a major airline. Typically on the short haul flights in our business cabin, we serve any free upgrades last as they were the last ones to get a place in the cabin - to ensure passengers who paid in advance get the full experience.
@jdonovan2000 You'd think this would be the obvious course of action, but I guess not to everybody...
.last minute upgrade some time they are not inttitled for a meal coz they don't cook the meals on on board they have to contact the catering department. And it can take sometime up to 50 minutes so definitely they won't delay the flight 50 minutes for somebody s meal .dubai airport is a huge airport and everything is planned and prepared ahead .last minutes request is usually hard to get not coz the crew are stingy but coz really they don't have it on board
Made me laugh, Dan. I never thought of overhead air vents as "opulent." I'm vintage, from the old 707 and 727 days. Air vents were standard then, and I know they're not now. Thanks for the "how did I book this" ending, very helpful.
Between losing air vents, free drinks, and people dressed up to fly, the good old days are long gone…

The pilot chose her to get the ride, out of all the kids that had been watching the flying all day. She rode in a plane before she ever rode in a car! But yes, the 707 and 727 are part of history now.

I really love your detailed explanations of how to book, seat selections and why you made the choices you did. I have only flown International once and we got bumped up to business and I am sold on that section for flights over 4 hours.

Sorry for the double post, Another reason I love your channel is that you tell us how much you paid and which magic you used to get that fare. So many other channels will keep quiet even if it's a meal at a restaurant. I appreciate the tips and also to include the total price you paid.

Last minute upgrades are the way to go. I upgraded on Uganda Airlines' A330-800 from Johannesburg to Uganda (stage length of 4 hours) for just $210 the other day. Had I gone for the bidding process, the minimum bid would have been $375.

I flew flybubai in Business class once in 2018 to Bucharest. The airline required extra time for transit if your previous was from Terminal 3 as terminal 2 is on the other side of the airport
Just a side comment, for some destinations (e.g. Warsaw) flydubai uses T3 in Dubai, which creates a lot of pain when the connection leaves from T2

FlyDubai Is Another Airlines I Havent Flown With.Great Trip Report
Erm, flown fly Dubai routes DXB to Zanzibar and found the experience was great. Pleasantly surprised. Would highly recommend and I also frequently fly business class with emirates London to DXB.
Apart from the lack of legroom in that particular seat and the stairs, that would suit me in general.
I like to fly business long haul in general so I can sleep and avoid the general mob.
Food on one tray is fine, as is the lack of obsequious service.

I would never use Flydubai again!!! In February I flew from London to Dubai on Emirates with a 90 minute layover and from Dubai onwards to Muscat all full fare Business Class. The outbound journey was good but on my return flights they downgraded our Business Class seat as they decided to use a smaller aircraft which was packed. My husband is 6ft 4 ended up being squashed in a seat in row 17 with no legroom whatsoever, we tried to get a seat with extra legroom and they just didn’t want to help. I had to battle to get a refund from them as they initially refused to pay us back the difference NEVER AGAIN Flydubai!!!

Flew with FlyDubai out of & back into Kandahar, economy of course. I don't recall anything good or bad, so it must've been ok.

I really wonder what is the point of Business Class without direct aisle access. The 2 worst things about flying are surely
if you're on the aisle, being disturbed by people wanting to get out
if you're not on the aisle, having to disturb people when you want to get out.
Not so bad if you know the person sitting next to you, but what if you're by the window and they are in 'lie flat' mode. Just climb over them?
The interior colours, seat, and general product feels like a Middle Eastern version of Jetblue

I flew on SQ intra Asia on a 737 with these seats and they are great. I was frustrated when on one flight there was an aircraft substitution and the experience is very different!
SQ had said that these seats are compatible only with the 737MAX & not its older 738s; hence the seats' rollout was delayed by the MAX's grounding. Which surprised me as I thought the only difference between the MAX & the 737NG were the engines & the cockpit, plus further stretched versions being available only on the former
Pls do Iberia Premium economy!! Was very disappointing as they ran out of premium amenities but the food was gas

I really liked the entire trip report. But, somewhere or the other, I feel the comparison with Emirates here wasn't needed since they both are completely different products altogether. We n ever compare any LCC with the FCC.

I flew FlyDubai business class to the Maldives and it was fine. Just fine. The cabin was extremely hot and the food was one you would expect on a budget European airline. Some business class seats have direct aisle access which is always a plus but i’d rather fly on the B777 business class without aisle access, they were worlds apart. For a cheap business options however, may be worth trying to see if the experience is any better.
Our seat was also changed at the gate from one of the single seats to a double, there was nobody in these seats but was changed for no reason.

Once i got a deal with singapore airlines business class for 2 round trip in july, frankfurt to singapore only for 3400 euros on their A380! In business, I think it was on of the best deals singapore airlines ever sold! And this year in july for 2 roud trip cathay pacific A350-1000 from frankfurt to hong-kong and the to Kuala Lumpur for 5500 euros when most of the times it is well over 10000 euros! I really don’t know if I’m lucky that im finding such good deals. And Dan you are really my idol! I hope you will soon get the 777K SUBS! Really looking forward for your Turkish Airlines flight!

I was on FlyDubai, flying in B737-800 and B737 MAX 8, only in economy class. One minus in B737-800 is IFE is offline. I flew about 2 times in B737 MAX 8. I’ll fly more times to pay for business class with Money and miles.
