@9:09 great call on the Force Play slide rule. Runner can't slide all the way through the bag and interfere with the infielder trying to make a play at 1st. Once again GREAT CALL. Know the rules people
as a former high school and 18u travel ball umpire i can tell you these umps did a fine job. the first slide into 2nd was interference as you slide clean past the bag. the 2nd slide i would not have call interference as he slid straight to the bag and the defender fell overtop of him trying to receive the throw. from this angle it appeared the center fielder trapped the ball so a good safe call there. nothing is worse, as an umpire, for moms and dads to be yelling at calls when they have the worst view on the field. in addition, i believe these kids need a bit of a lesson about respecting the calls on the field. its high school ball, there should be absolutely no reason for these kids to be arguing calls. when i umpired, it was an immediate ejection if anyone argued a call. none the less, these umps did a great job keeping the coaches in the game and diffusing the situations.
Agreed on all fronts. Why the home plate umpire making that interference call anyhow? Not his call. Can't believe all the crud these kids get away with in baseball with the disrespect of the opponents and umps. Some of the parents were awful, probably where they get it from.
@@easton.11127 what's against the rules? The first interference call was definitely correct. I do believe that the second one however was missed. The runner made a legal slide.
@@BlackCobraMediaTV just wished they did a little better with the brackets and matchup. Like that Norcross vs Img was a mismatch. We had 2 games that you could clearly see the talent gap. We get a couple of high D1 commits but going against a team full of them and some potential high draft pics is asking to do almost the impossible.
@@gacoachtrainer9315 yeah some of the matchups were not as good, but you can't put all the good teams in one bracket! Houston had a very tough draw. Plus it gives some of these smaller school a chance to play big name opponents that they will never see in the regular season or postseason.
Looked like a legal slide from the camera angle. NFHS rules do not prohibit contact at second base, or any base. The rules specify that the slide shall be a legal slide and that the runner must be able to reach the base.
incorrect. The runner made a legal slide into 2nd base. The umpire made that call because it looked bad that the infielder flipped. The baserunner slid directly into the bag.
That slide was perfectly legal, contact doesn't make it an illegal slide. The first interference call was illegal because R1 clearly slid through the bag making it illegal, regardless of any contact interference is awarded to the defense. HP umpire should have never intervened on the second interference call, which is highly inappropriate.
It’s not his call . I think it maybe was correct but is most likely why the coach acted like that. It’s a ridiculous “baseball thing”. Not that the call is correct or not correct … he sold the hell out of it… he had that down. It was a good call. And I would have restricted that coach or dumped him. He was out of control for this level of baseball. The fold is not good enough to make some of the calls … we can only make the best opinion at the one angle and horrible distance . I made a similar call in bracket game from the dish and it cost me a finals … and my call was 100% correct from anywhere on the field … and that was the coaches only complaint… this is a baseballism that even the coaches that are good know the umpires mechanics and responsibilities?
Red Devils should have pulled this one out for sure…😢 it would be fair to say that the official behind the plate was so called “glazing” houston county. Red Devils should have definitely won this game.
Your comment shows you have no clue on mechanics. Actually plate has primary. The umpire in B position will be turning with the throw the first but plate will stay with the slide.
First interference call was legit but the second one....... Man, that was brutal to watch. It was a call to keep the game under control but it was the wrong one. My favorite part about these videos is the clueless parents.
That was 100% not an interference. It was bad fielding on the short shot. When tagging the bag it looked like he ran in the line of the bases. Not at a curved angle through it so THAT doesn’t happen. Which sometimes is fine but that’s only if it’s a slow runner.
That second interference call was wrong. You can see in the video it was actually a real slow and easy slide foot stayed on the ground the whole time. It also wouldn’t be a double play because he dropped the ball a second
and no one comments on the white/red team's fundamental goof of getting doubled up off 2nd base cause they forgot how many outs there were . don't win many games when such mental lapses occur.
Not catching the ball has nothing to do with it under HS rules if the slide is not legal. In this case the slide was legal, IMHO, and interference should not have been called because of that.
Why do people think these umps are robots or some shit. It’s hard to call a game with two umps as they don’t have the ability to look everywhere on the field. This ain’t the MLB. Black team did better tbh
The coach at the beginning of the video should have been ejected if he wasn't. If the umpire didn't eject him he is gutless and completely intimidated or in fear of not getting any more games so he will let them push him around and humiliate him. A coach or anyone anywhere at any time for any reason for that matter will never speak to me in that manner without facing consequences and I don't care how good of an athlete they are or how good of a coach they are. There are standards of conduct and if you allow someone to treat you this way it will never stop especially when it comes to sports/athletics. Just because a game official doesn't do a good job you game personnel do not have a right to behave this way and it is a travesty and they are an embarrassment when they do. Especially as leaders of young men and women. Pathetic. It is unbelievable how ignorant people get when they walk into a baseball stadium. I am guessing that someone thought leading with that argument was cool or entertaining which is beyond ignorant too.
@@BlackCobraMediaTV key word is secondary it’s the umps primary call behind the mound and he called it a clean slide the guy behind the plate called it before the kid stopped sliding. You can’t let the secondary ump make a game ending call on play that changes the game, awful shady to me
