@Manjeet THE ATHEIST okay excuse me, I'd like to ask you, are you an expert in both fields? who told you that Kathak requires a lesser skill set than Bharatnatyam does, judging by your answer. Oh let me guess, youtube right. Cause anyone can do Kathak. I know everyone is entitled to their own opinion but, what you just saw, is anything but Kathak. Kathak is not a bunch of illegible, fast movements, not a bunch of meaningless pirouttes, and Kathak was definitely not fashioned to be portrayed in this way. You think one can put a bunch of dhan dhan dhas in a song and then you dance to it with a thousand meaningless chakkars, oh fusion Kathak. Kathak, is Laya. Kathak is Vilambit. Kathak is rasa. Just because you see people dancing "Kathak" to Shape of you, and not a lot of Bharatnatyam, does not friggin mean its any less difficult. KATHAK IS WHEN YOU CAN SEE THIS SAME VIDEO IN 0.5x SPEED AND NOT FEEL ANY DIFFERENCE, because let me tell you one thing, Kathak in the modern age is only Drut because 1) people are too dumb to understand the difficulty asset in Vilambit and 2) the movements will be a blur anyways. All i want to say is I want people to not lighten Kathak just as you do with Bharatnatyam or Odissi or Kathakali or any other Classical form. You do not see Bollywood bharatnatyam or bollywood kuchipudi as often as you can with Kathak. Do whatever you wish to if it makes you happy but, stop calling it Kathak when it is not. I am not a professional dancer. But I have been blessed with people in my life who have instilled in me the aesthetic sense that I require to be hopefully, a good Kathak dancer in the future. I absolutely mean no offence to you i hope you get that. Its just, I needed this to be put forward in a way and, here it is in a comments section, soon to be forgotten.
