As someone who actually plays this game, seeing that many resources wasted made me feel physical pain...
That's what I was thinking. I'm currently 10 minutes in and am physically in pain by the fact that he hasn't checked the produce section in the anvil.

I've been playing idleon for about 4 months and seeing DF spend all of those skill points on one of the most useless skills was very sad

Dev here: I had about 4000 hrs of maple back in late 2000s as a kid and I guess I never fully recovered from that haha :]

It does saden me that being Afk is more profitable than active playing though. Lol
I'm lvl 90 and I thought he did fine. If he used them sparingly and got better gear, he could've easily gotten to world 2.
@@sheldor2996 It is... and it isn't. By default it's only 20% as effective as "actively playing". So, your gains are reduced by 80% without some buffs to the "AFK gains rate" through a myriad of other methods.
Without appropriate buffs, the AFK rate is just... not going to get you very far, very fast. If I need something to be "sped up", I mostly just load the game on the character I need to do it with, in the area I need it, and just let it run and run and run actively.
But, to be fair, I think when you made your post, there wasn't an option for "auto loot" when you played actively. So, it was insanely inefficient. I even pointed that out in my review as a "ding" against the game. You can play it a lot more "actively" now.
If my calculations are correct, he skipped about 5 months just for fun
Then another 5 months for good measure ;D
And wasted 20 months by being stupid and lazy and doing things sub-optimally even with boosts, which is just peak DF and the reason why we love him >:P

I even uninstalled my other games just to play this game actively, For new players don't get obsessed too much because if you do you'll get bored, I suggest that leave your char to farm and do other activities for a while and then return to the game to claim rewards. The dev is also willing to listen to the community unlike other huge franchises who puts a bot to respond messages to players.
I hate to say it but I hope this game does miserable and doesnt get a lot of publicity because when it gets big and blows up (which it probably will/is) im afraid the dev will get the "too big to fail" syndrome that so many other devs got. It happens every fucking time it seems.

I'm surprised how much he listens to players and the suggestions get added into the game. Most of the shortcut buttons were added after people told him to do it.

He did better than me. Took me weeks to figure out the stones exist and I put all my points into defense which is was dumb in world 1. Still he could've done better if he got better gear. He had the resources.
@@magicmanscott40k There are the easily obtained items that refund all your skillpoints so you can distribute them better.
Also, Defense is pretty important. Allows you to AFK better. Need less food that way too. It's just not as important as damage output.
Why am I not surprised that Lava sponsored a video for Idleon with DF? The two of them fit together very well.

You won't be stuck on the frogs, theybare easy to pass, DT is not properly using the candy, they way he's doin it is actually the slowest way possible with candy, iv been playing for the past few days and I'm way past the frogs, have 4 characters and my main does more damage then his character bc is armor, weapons, and other accessories are better then him, and iv been playing for a few days

Ah yes. The video where DF does practically nothing logical for progressing the game, but brings his own form of comedy so that I can still enjoy admist all the other thoughts about the thousands of things he was missing (Like how he has to unlock the recipe for that Axe at the beginning from the Green dude next to the pig in town.)
It's all very minor things and focusing on dmg is a great idea. The only real thing he did wrong was using the candy before he had good gear.

i have been playing lavas games since idle skilling came out, and i have to say i def recommend the game. He is a solo dev and this game is his second, and it already has a massive amount of stuff to keep you busy with more and more being added frequently. Def a fun game to put some time into every day even if it isnt a ton

also i play this everyday and i have 9 characters, my best at level 113, and ive unlocked world 3, and i have the ability to fight the boss in world 3.
heavily suggest this game, its awesome, and has so many different things to fight and discover.

Well, it'll comfort you to know that each monster has a separate drop table. The monsters he fought are def useful (and it pains me to see the resources go to waste), but there wouldn't have been any high tier items :)

Not really. The green equipment is rare and is better than what he has on but each enemy only drops like 10 things and the best he can get it's slightly better stuff. The pants he got is pretty rare though.
@@zedforce1234 that's funny. If you mess up the quest in this game, you can re do it and get the item back. It's impossible to fail the quest in this game cuz of it. A lot of it is still rng though.

I keep watching these idle on videos and It's so hard thinking of me as a level one player that didn't know what to do because now I know alot of the secrets grinding spots (one of them is the giant tree in the jungle) and let's be real here I have like 90+ hours in this game so you know you'll have fun (this is to anyone reading this)
The tree is only useful if your high level like lvl 60 and I only use it for the wood circle and the worship mini game. But I agree starting a new character is easier once you know all the spots and shortcuts. I got 260 hours and on world 3.
I got to level 22 on my main character, it took my about 3 - 4 days of afking
its a game of exponential growth lol. when i started this game a month ago yea, took me days to get my main to lvl 30. this morning i made my 8th character, it's been 4 hours, and they're already almost lvl 25 lol. you new characters start getting made as strong as my first was was at lvl 40 just from all the bonuses you've upgraded along the way haha
@@Fenthule by then you can speed run any of the low level craftaables and more characters the more resources you get.

Started this game because of this video. Makes me cringe all my gluteal muscles to see him not pick up stuff, and sell others, this game is a beautiful grind, to see him not even caring for the scaling is a mix of anxiety and a whole lot of fun! Content really cool, my feelings after the video are just horrible. At lv48 you are not happy with just max 400dmg !! xD

I mean, from what I’ve seen there are loads of ptw purchases. You can get a lot of gems ftp to be fair, but you can get premium cauldrons, anvil, forge, candies and card packs for gems. Imo it’s pretty ptw

I love how Knowledge on the game is more powerful than money. A free to play player would be far better after the months he technically played via speed candy. This is seriously entertaining thank you DF.
At least I have a small chance at meeting DF for the first time in this game
