Cracker game by Italy, chalk and cheese compared to the last time we played, sloppy by the A.Bs, discipline an issue again, the ref had a busy game, he impressed me, and even though the conditions were challenging, not the kind of performance we fans are looking for. Italy has still lot to improve. When we are able to have a good attack, like the one in the last 6N, then we will play good games, fun to watch and with a serious chance of winning. I don't understand why we had such a poor attack this autumn.
Lets also consider how well Italy's U20's have done in recent years - they do have a funnel of good young players coming through. They are not the pushovers they once were.
Couldn't agree more about "not supporting body weights" The refs always focus on the new rule or the one talked about at their "meetings" and enforce others less. Offside is another one you can get away with more now because there just looking for "access" of chasers law.
I think the ABs forwards are looking good. A lot of promising young players coming through in all positions. The backs are looking disjointed and second rate. Except for Roigard and Jordan, and maybe MacKenzie off the bench, I think the ABs need to seriously start looking for replacements. Especially the centre pairing... but anyways, thanks Mr Eggchaser for some excellent and insightful commentary and analysis. Time for a well deserved break and a relaxed off-season.
I don't care what the score says Italy won that game with his they fought. Menoncello and Brex are in contention for best centre pair in the world. Menoncello, Negri and Brex deserved MOTM for their games. They took it to NZ and NZ weren't good by their standards but Italy made it hard for them.
@solinvictus1234 At the 2010 Football World Cup in South Africa the New Zealand Football team was the only team to go undefeated in the tournament. Not even the defending champions italy could beat them.
The 90's France and Italy, when they played fheir own game were wonderful to watch! As a kiwi I'm loving being an underdog. Seeing the Bokkies DOMINATE is fantastic. Us losing to the french, I admit I'm very fond of french rugby.
I think the Tuipolotu decision was fair but if the incident was reversed and it was an Italian player making that hit it would have been a card, there's been a pattern of two tier officiating over the course of the series in my opinion. Scoreline massively flattered NZ. Great content as always mate
I remember last year in the RWC, people were expecting Italy to be a tough opponent. This time, that team actually turned up. Italy challenged the All Blacks in ways they have never done before. All Blacks were better, but the final scoreline is slightly misleading. I did find this game hard to watch at times though, as there were long periods with no game flow - especially the first 30 minutes!
Thanks for your great thoughts on the northern tour Tim. I do agree totally on the point that rolling a player is because players are off their feet holding their weight usually on their hands and not being penalised.
It must be difficult to getup for a game you know you're going to win, plus a long season under the new system. Italy played some outstanding rugby though..
I agree with your view on the “no card” for the head contact, but then we need consistency. In many other games that would be a yellow and unfortunately even a red occasionally.
Two questions, if the bunker is sniffing out croc rolls, why didn't the Italians get penalised when they did the same thing? And, what was the mitigating factor that stopped Barrett from seeing red? Not saying he deserved red, but he clearly deliberately rolled the player, what was the mitigating factor that stopped it being escalated? I am glad the ref over-ruled the TMO on the Tuipulotu call, but it makes every outcome even more of a lottery. It seems to me if a ref calls a high tackle, the player will be penalised, but if the ref misses it live, the bunker will make sure its a yellow. Consistency? Forget about it.
RIP Rugby Once a great game now just a pawn for TMO involvement Congrats World Rugby you have stuffed the game we loved .. Congrats Italy you played with heart
I hope next year WR rules that TMO should come in only for dangerous play or cynical play. The ARs and on field ref should be controlling the game. TMO only if called upon by on field ref like in cricket 3rd umpire. TMO ruin the flow of the game.
OK, so the tour gets a pass mark for me just for beating Ireland and England at home, we could have easily lost all 3 big matches. but not an A pass, more of a C+, could do better, and still questions over whether Razor really has stepped up to international level. He need to prove he can lift the skill level of the side in handling the rush defence, because the same results next year will be deemed a failure.
While it is true that it was comfortable enough for the All Blacks, I still think a light should be shone on the standard of refereeing. Pierre Brousset and particularly Tual Trainini had a really bad night. The croc roll fair enough, but you just need some coherence as you've also seen red given for that in the Autumn Nations. Similarly the second ABs try came off what should have been an Italian lineout - guess the touch judge also has some responsibility there, but it was evident even from the 2nd tier of the stadium that it bounced in-field and then came off the knee of Tele’a. Similarly, as you said, in the 2nd half, there was that Tuipulotu head on head tackle on Negri which in other games could have seen yellow, and how that no arm tackle/shoulder charge on Brex by Aumua wasn't even looked at is beyond me, especially when the TMO was called straight into action later on when Brex headed that ball into touch. Similarly, Fischetti complained that Lomax was engaging early, although couldn't really tell from the stands 😂. That said, Italy still have a lot to work on and ABs deserved winners
2 teams on the field and i thought Italy line defence and scramble was brilliant, plus ruck pressure. NZ had zero patience, some very odd kicks, and pushed passes, but felt that was a reaction to Italy. Wonder if they took the game too lightly. NZ scrum is very underrated. Thought our lineout was a little disappointing and more silly penalties. Lots to work on for 2025
@racketman2u maybe but they didn't really steal our ball. Rather our throws didn't go to hand. I did think Vaa'i got taken out once or twice when he came on, but problems earlier seemed to be throw/timing

You say the All blacks underperformed but you're forgetting this a record-breaking season in terms of games played for the ABS. Italy drew France, beat Scotland and Wales this year and this game was played in freezing temperatures. Turin is in the fricking mountains which isn't exactly a running rugby climate and don't forget every side turns up for All Blacks
The AB's had an off day. It happens. They had a very long year and had a good season whilst exposing their players to playing in Jhb/ Cape Town/ Paris and Dublin. They'll be better for it.
Well not really. The Ab's was dominant in scrum, touche and mauls, they wasn't in their off day rather the Italians closed any possible door and beyond in a massive defensive effort.
Credit to ref, if he had reffed last week’s AB game the ABs would have won. He watched the advised replays offered by the video ref and then made his own sensible decisions. Last week’s guy did not even watch the so called crock roll last week which eventuated in a card.

Robertson should have mixed up the team far more. They looked tired and just didn't have the intensity after 3 tough games. Poor head coach decision to roll out basically the same team 4 weeks in a row when the likes of Perofeta and Proctor are fresh and need more game time. Robertson learned nothing from that game. Well done Italy.
Another great unbiased review Tim but an abysmally poor game not helped once again by some pretty inconsistent haphazard officiating but at least the ref if only once put the another officiousTMO back in his box. Comon WR sort this bs out. Italy seemed offside for much of the game but the AB were pretty poor apart from the scrum with discipline errors etc but good to see SC & TJP two great and underatted by many servants of NZ rugby. Not convinced RR and the widet coaching group all have the goods lots to do next year. Go ABs.
Italy did not play bad, New Zealand played a bit offbeat. I guess we so used to seeing different scores with wider gaps. Just a year ago in World cup Italy had 17 - 96 New Zealand. Did Italy get much better by huge margins or did NZ drop the ball ?
Zero degrees, wet ball and an extremely narrow pitch is what helped Italy… scrappy messy spoiling game partially ruined by the referee not policing the breakdown properly - I’ve noticed all Northern Hemisphere teams seem to be allowed to go off their feet at the breakdown… it was policed during the World Cup but not this season wtf?
Yeah, right, it was for the temperature, the wet ball and the narrow pitch if the Italians for 20 minutes in the first half and 15 minutes in the second, was costantly inside the Ab's half field. Honestly, your's are a little bit of "loser excuses".
@@solinvictus1234why play in Southern Italy by the coast when you can play in the mountains in winter? If you do not think it is all staged to help italy to get a win then you are purposely ignorant. Despite conditions and altered pitch size the allblacks still contained the Italians and finally put some points on the board. "Sore loser"? Who won?
@oldblack15 The only one purposedly ignorant it's you. They played at the Turin Alliance Arena cause it's the most similar to Stade de France as sitting places in front of the field and overall Stadium technologies and service offered, perfect for Rugby matches. And hosting the Worlds biggest rugby team ever you can't send them to play in anninadequate Stadium on the coasts. You know nothing child.
With wales performance recently then they should be worried about the game with Italy however I do believe England will keep there record of not being beaten by Italy unlike the rest of the six nations who have all lost to them.
Great from Italy. The allblacks are going to take a season or two to become the team we've known.Plummer not being the first choice and now not a choice is a failure by Rasor.
Plumber is a journeyman a good ordinary player, has been for years. He fitted the Blues very conservative game well but is the sort that will take a game by the scruff of the neck, no, he is great at doing the ordinary well without making mistakes.
Instead of giving the same tired veterans a chance to, in his words, 'redeem themselves' after France, Razor should have learned more about the younger members of the squad who didn't have one foot on the plane. The trouble with the AB's is if you're in the 'leadership group', you're not accountable for your form. They never get dropped, they just don't. If you're a younger squad member, you get a chance via injury, and that is your only chance. They should start by dropping ALB next year, who spends more time sitting down these days than playing.
sum up NZ all year from this game discipline, not finishing, rhythm and passing and our kicking (roigard weak area a few charge downs) Rieko needs a SBW offload, Defense is good, best tackling atat think it was88% for the tour). I finding same passing flat footed as with England and France. Im looking forward to next year to see if we learnt Jordan was MOM Italy gonna do well next 6 nations, wales so bad!
Good tough Rugby by Italy to spoil the All Blacks game but saying the All Blacks only won because of there scrum is a big stretch. Italy couldn't scrum but they couldn't attack either. You have to do more than tackle all day to win against the ABs.
Sad as a kiwi that the most enjoyable game was the loss to France this northern tour. Great defensive effort by Italy, some huge disrespect plays by Roigard and Barret early on that would never do in big matches. Useless NZ coaching learnt nothing(or taught nothing), terrible kickoff receiving as all year, including the same blocking penalties all over, Scott Barret still clearly an idiot doing flat illegal things again.
First minutes, Box kick one, out on the full loss of ground, Box kick two, charged down loss of ground. ball snatched out of Roigards hands twice. Utter rubbish!
Probably the ugliest game of the season for us but a wins a win. Quite often happens with the last game of season, especially against opposition that isn't a threatening prospect ahead of the game.
Far to flat on attack. Ball carries lack punch. Kicks with no chases. Hate the New Clear Runway law.. do we really need another area in the game were the officials make more judgment calls, given how heavily they already decide games. Agree 100% on your take of why croc rolls are happening.
I will say though, is it typical in the northern hemisphere to let the opposition players lie in the way of the ruck all game? 🤔 Its quite frustrating to watch quite frankly when everytime our cleaners run in they have to jump an opposition player and our halfback spends half his time falling over just to try and pass the ball.
@@SalemTotal boring spoiling tactics by most of the Northern hemisphere and Italy did it well, the AB’S should have adjusted their game but instead kicked good ball away
I replied before watching it all... Lienert-Brown gets sinbinned for "tackler not releasing" when the Italy guy could not get a knee to the ground, then lost the ball when finally going to ground... Poor. I would be curious how much money world rugby wastes on TMOs, since they want to justify their jobs so much. I wouldn't have said it was a problem in the 50 years before this last world cup when rulings started going overboard constantly. I would rather have some missed things and bad calls than this constantly backtracking to nitpick things in slow motion.
Not so enamoured by the haka anymore due to it making questionable headlines in other spheres. Well done Italy for not totally crumbling. Hope they can build on this and become a proper competitive power. A shame about the generally overly-intrusive TMO and refereeing rubbish in world rugby.
Protecting and preventing shenanigans from happening in parliament? Better off closing it down then because that is always going on. Politicians are a joke and are all bad actors (acts of parliament) it is a stage and we are the duped audience falling for the scripted play.
Pity Ireland 🇮🇪 are playing Australia 🇦🇺 next week and not the All Blacks. They seem to have peaked for the Ireland game and then seem to go backwards. Italy 🇮🇹 were very good today and unfortunately didn’t have enough
Italy started the game with good hard scatter defence line and rush defence all blacks wins because they stayed in a game that a team like Italy at home who love to play all blacks a team who the Italian have not won a rugby game all Italy players play a there strength witch all blacks could not put a big score on sweet thanks to all the Northern hemisphere supporter's and the teams for a good watching autumn series of northern hemisphere and southern Hemisphere rugby to PJ and SAM as a long journey of great rugby for your country come to a finish in life there are ENDLESS doors for you too open and you (Eggchaser )thank and bye bye
AB's backline looks clunky and stale...attacking shape is a temu copy of Ireland 😂..the boks attack is amazing and innovative, they have got their mojo going on too...why isn't Tony Brown part of the AB's again? Oh well onwards and upwards...hopefully lol
taly could have been competitive and in the game but their performance can be summed up in passage of play: NZ maul get stopped by Italy. Tim, why do you have springbok colours in you logo? just asking ..
No doubt NZ will be putting this performance in their book. Did the Italians show them enough RESPECT after the NZ dancing??
Re Player Of The Match and losing teams; it does happen. Sometimes.
Kyle was POM vs France just before the RWC although 🏴 lost by three 😎
That was a horrible game. Absolutely horrible. Put it in the W column and forget about it.
Word. Freshen the team up!
That’s because he wasn’t confident in his bench I wonder why ….
Proctor had already gone home to be at the birth of his child.
Spoiler team versus a team that wanted to play - but the team that wanted to play won so all good!
If I'm right then Italy will be touring South Africa next year at the time of the Lions tour and with France in NZ.
Fantastic Italy, they will beat wales and England come February.
With wales performance recently then they should be worried about the game with Italy however I do believe England will keep there record of not being beaten by Italy unlike the rest of the six nations who have all lost to them.
Oh yes, for sure, let's bring our B game.
Great from Italy. The allblacks are going to take a season or two to become the team we've known.Plummer not being the first choice and now not a choice is a failure by Rasor.
Isn't Plummer going abroad?
@ethancoster1324 he is so no longer a choice unfortunately. Big loss
How is it a failure by razor? He’s been in the job for a season! It’s not like anyone has given Plummer a sniff in recent years
@@kurupt7154 we have a shortage of quality 10s .Plummer is a reliable 10 at top level. Maybe Ritchie will change the course of the allblacks

Forgiven the Aglo Boer War, myself a mix of Northern Irish, German, French an Finnish😂
sum up NZ all year from this game discipline, not finishing, rhythm and passing and our kicking (roigard weak area a few charge downs) Rieko needs a SBW offload, Defense is good, best tackling atat think it was88% for the tour). I finding same passing flat footed as with England and France. Im looking forward to next year to see if we learnt
Jordan was MOM
Italy gonna do well next 6 nations, wales so bad!
Good tough Rugby by Italy to spoil the All Blacks game but saying the All Blacks only won because of there scrum is a big stretch. Italy couldn't scrum but they couldn't attack either. You have to do more than tackle all day to win against the ABs.
Well done Italy🎉. Long year for AB'S. Boys are alsi tired!
Glad to only watch the highlights suspecting a dismal showing ; coaching not up to scratch !!
@@SalemTotal boring spoiling tactics by most of the Northern hemisphere and Italy did it well, the AB’S should have adjusted their game but instead kicked good ball away
boks fitness levels seems to be on another level......just watch eben running like a gazelle to keep up with Arendse
Fitness has nothing to do with speed, eben has some very long levers at full stride he will be moving!
Didn’t realise Ardense or Etzebeth were playing in AB or Italy team
@HeeniKeke referencing how fit the boks are compared to the all blacks....🤨
Weird game by the All Blacks
End of a really long, tough Autumn series. They looked like they had one foot on the plane.
@championthewonderhorse9733 100% agree and Italy wow I hope you do even better in the 6 nations you are improving so much since the RWC🍇🙂🍻🙂👍🍕
Agree as usually 😂
Not so enamoured by the haka anymore due to it making questionable headlines in other spheres. Well done Italy for not totally crumbling. Hope they can build on this and become a proper competitive power. A shame about the generally overly-intrusive TMO and refereeing rubbish in world rugby.
Protecting and preventing shenanigans from happening in parliament? Better off closing it down then because that is always going on. Politicians are a joke and are all bad actors (acts of parliament) it is a stage and we are the duped audience falling for the scripted play.
the game was all over the place - frustrating to watch regardless of outcome
Tim!!! I love you and your channel. Why you gotta butcher Paddy Ts name? Your NZ accent needs some work my son
Pity Ireland 🇮🇪 are playing Australia 🇦🇺 next week and not the All Blacks. They seem to have peaked for the Ireland game and then seem to go backwards. Italy 🇮🇹 were very good today and unfortunately didn’t have enough
Tim amazing! Don’t you sleep ?
Italy started the game with good hard
scatter defence line and rush defence
all blacks wins because they stayed
in a game that a team like Italy at home
who love to play all blacks a team who the
Italian have not won a rugby game all Italy players play a there strength witch
all blacks could not put a big score on
sweet thanks to all the Northern hemisphere supporter's and the teams
for a good watching autumn series of
northern hemisphere and southern Hemisphere rugby to PJ and SAM as a
long journey of great rugby for your country come to a finish in life there are
ENDLESS doors for you too open and you
(Eggchaser )thank and bye bye
ABs not dominating enough.
Score flatters NZ.
Not really. Italy never looked like scoring but had good defence. Score reflects the game.
The score has all season, funny that.
Flatters Italy too
Will Jordan was MoM
Italy played out of their skin, If they could sort out a couple of issues that lead to turnovers the game would have been much closer. Vai Azzuri!
Most profligate I have ever seen a NZ backline but fair play Italy showed up.
AB's backline looks clunky and stale...attacking shape is a temu copy of Ireland 😂..the boks attack is amazing and innovative, they have got their mojo going on too...why isn't Tony Brown part of the AB's again? Oh well onwards and upwards...hopefully lol
ABs are going to have raise their game to beat the Boks.
Boks didn't look too hot against Wales I recon they'll win the next game they play against SA
@@unleashedmystery they didnt need to.....missing over 12 players
Boks looked just as flat against Wales.
abs have some post season training to do.
taly could have been competitive and in the game but their performance can be summed up in passage of play:
NZ maul get stopped by Italy.
Ruzza goes through the middle and rips the ball
Page-Relo kicks a sweet 50-22
Italy mess up the line out :(
The 3 hardest things the do well and mess up the easiest of the 4
Kiwis!!
