Hello, I just finished constructing this loom and getting all the other suggested weaving supplies together, and I’m very thankful for your instructions! If it’s okay to ask a question: Is this loom strong enough that you could weave small hand-knotted rugs on it, or does it strictly require one more similar to the loom you use in the hand-knotted rug videos (for example, one that has pins/nails for the warps instead of a steel bar)? I’d like to try my hand at both, and it’d be helpful to know if I would eventually need to upgrade for hand-knotted rugs. Thanks again!
Depending on how wide your planned rug is , you should be ok. As you well know the amount of pressure required to weave a hand-knotted rug is higher than the hand-woven rug. Try with 6-8 inches perhaps for the width and see how it does. Good luck.

Would you need to put an extra board in the back for stability if you made a wider loom? This is wonderful. Thank you.
If you want to go wider, you may need to switch to a 2 by 6 piece of wood rather than a 2 by 4. It will help handle the pressure.
