    Why are Ee and Ooo vowels so hard to sing and place? How can we sing them well AND work them into our own vocal style in a way that capitalizes on our strengths? The answers are right here! In this lesson, we look at using these vowels in ways that don't get in the way of hitting or holding certain notes... They actually enhance our overall sound and resonance. If you know how to approach them, they become useful tools instead of vowels to avoid!

    • @chrisliepe
      @chrisliepe  Год назад

      that hasn't worked for me. Striving of any kind leads to the opposite of what we're trying to do... every time. It's more about practicing dynamic placement to figure out, with your voice, how to place and shape things so you can get a uniquely awesome result out of your voice! I can help you with that in my courses!

  • @andreaf3324
    @andreaf3324 4 года назад +4

    Thanks a lot Chris, I had a lot of struggle to figure this out by myself when I first started singing, and those vowels still give me some trouble.. Actually, I have another problem now: I can perfectly sing the very open "EH" and "OH" vowels and go from chest to mix to head voice, but I have a lot of struggle with the "AH", I can't transition from chest to mix, it looks to me that my chest AH and my mix AH are completely different and I can't connect them, can't figure out why, any tips? I don't know if its a problem of my voice (could be)

    • @fr3ak1shh
      @fr3ak1shh 4 года назад

      I know I'm not Chris, but I want to try to help.
      Are you able to transition with your "AA" vowel (as in Apple)? I feel that "AA" is pretty similar in shape to "AH".
      Are you able to sing the "AH" vowel well in head voice? You'll find it's easier to sing "EE" and "OO" than "AH" in head voice. Strengthening your "AH" head voice might help.
      Otherwise, my only advice would be to try singing "AH" VERY forward with lots of compression and diaphragm and really concentrate on making the vowel feel "smaller". "AH" is such an open throat sound and it's possible that you're making the sound too big - holding onto too much weight as you move up in range.
      Hopefully that helps a little! :)

    Hey chris, this video actually address my number 1 issue in singing, but for some reason I STILL can’t get proper resonance. All of my other vowels are loud and powerful, but my ee and oo are hit or miss. I’ve recently tried slipping into a more nasal placement and that works most of the time, but it’s a very weak sound that’s prone to voice cracks on ANY vowel and it’s very quiet. I’m not sure if you could shed light on this considering you already made a video on it, but any advice would help tremendously

      British accents are associated with specific British styles like Indy (think arctic monkeys...), old punk and shit like that. A lot of us brits think English accents sound dumb in music and those styles aren’t for everyone. Most of the music and movies we are exposed to are American so there could be that.

    You mention Ken Tamplin in this video. He's a fantastic singer, but I don't like his teaching method at all. I've seen his vocal course, and it's not nearly as thoughtful or insightful as your free youtube videos.
    He puts too much focus in the wrong things. The only thing that was helpful was the idea of open-throat singing. You don't need to study vowel modifications for higher notes in my opinion. They pretty much come naturally as long as you're singing with proper forward resonance, diaphragmatic support, and compression - yet he dedicates so much of his course to them.
    And his course is so scale-heavy. Scales have only hurt my progress in the past. His whole course is so mechanical and thoughtless.

    • @junaidesse
      @junaidesse 4 года назад +2

      Guess different things work for different people depending on where they're at and what they're doing correctly and incorrectly. Vowel modifications were quite significant for me. I guess the key is to understand where you're at and what you need in that point of time. And that changes as you move forward with your learning.
