Wow. I'm speechless...almost. :-) This is stunning in every way, from arrangement to venue to execution.
There is a balm, indeed. This performance, my friends, is a balm to this particular sinner's heavy soul.
The most beautiful arrangement of this song I have ever heard! It IS my favorite hymn... I love this!
Right up there with Just As I Am. Thank you for sharing this absolutely beautiful arrangement! Your hard work and long hours of practice paid off. God bless, and thank you again!
Gorgeous
Beautiful,... thanks for sharing!.... Yes, ther 's a Balm in Gilead, Jesus is the Name!
Greetings from the Neterlands.
Just got home from hearing Concordia Choir sing in Thousand Oaks, Calif. I was craving more, more more of the choir, but there are no videos posted yet of this year's tour literature. So I listened to "There Is a Balm" about 150 times instead. Wow. Just wow.
I cannot listen to this enough! And I tear-up each time... Beautiful.
My goodness, this is so beautiful and healing
Beautiful, absolutely beautiful.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 God Bless this choir!
Amazing tenors!
Again... It's SO beautiful, and meaningful! And such a wonderful job! Just beautiful!
Just what my soul needed to heal my pain.
Amen. Peace of God.
Come back and listen to it through headsets!
Another, similar piece of music: "Listen to the Lambs."
Bravo! Cheers from Brazil

Having performed this great song with the the Tuskegee Institute Choir conducted by William L. Dawson, i
can fully appreciate the Concordia rendition.
Wow!
If you love choral music, make your way to Moorhead and try to get a ticket to see/hear their annual Christmas concert. It is worth a long, long trip.
Wow - a very timely piece beautifully sung. Very bright recording - almost too bright.
wow. would love to see them do Last Words of David.
@Wowzer33 You can find it on iTunes. The song is found on the CD "Endless Your Grace" by The Concordia Choir.
I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. I play the piano and organ. Today (Jan. 29, Epiphany 4), I filled in at a local Lutheran Church. I played this as the Hymn of the Day. It is #614 in Evangelical Lutheran Worship.
mkl62 It’s not a hymn.
Wonderful!! So Soothing!
Lovely recording, and wonderful arrangement.
From 4:23 to about 5:10...how did they do that? That sounds so good 😊
That soloist is fabulous!
Reinforced confidence, by the balm...
Yes, dear young man, yes, there is a true balm in Gilead. I implore you to call on the name of Jesus, and you truly will know what I mean.
❤️😪
Is there, is there balm in Gilead? Tell me, tell me, I implore!
stopthemadness99 Christ Jesus surely is! He's the truest version of the balm in Gilead!
Seek and ye will find...
Let those who have ears hear...
Does anyone know where I can get the sheet music of this version? Love it so much and I'd like to record it myself.
Sometimes I feel discouraged and think my work’s in vain,
But then the Holy Spirit revives my soul again.
There is a balm in Gilead to make the wounded whole;
There is a balm in Gilead to heal the sin sick soul.
If you cannot preach like Peter, if you cannot pray like Paul,
You can tell the love of Jesus and say, "He died for all."
There is a balm in Gilead to make the wounded whole;
There is a balm in Gilead to heal the sin sick soul.
Don’t ever feel discouraged, for Jesus is your friend;
And if you lack for knowledge, He’ll never refuse to lend.
There is a balm in Gilead to make the wounded whole;
There is a balm in Gilead to heal the sin sick soul.
Is there an mp3 or cd with this on it?
Download to your harddrive, burn a CD and you'll have one....😌

Nonsense. You don't rush music like this. A static key change (whether up or down - perhaps at 3:42), might lend a more forward momentum to the piece's conclusion. Just my opinion, of course. I think the arrangement is beautiful!
Bach choir
The arrangement is great, the singers are talented, the blend is good. But as with far too many Rene Clausen conducted performances, the piece just drags on way, way too slow. It's contemplative piece, yes, but not so slow it puts you to sleep.
It didn't put me to sleep, but I must agree that they could easily have shaved off at least 90 seconds just by moving the initial tempo along more, and reserving the slower phrases for the last verse & the ending.
It didn't put ME to sleep! Quite the contrary, it made me alive! In Christ!
I can assure you, I did not call asleep, however, I was in tears pretty well most of the time. Gorgeous!
