  • They're both free sat navs but only Roadlords let you put in the height, weight and length of the vehicle, which is all well and good but how does it compare on routes and with live traffic updates? #freelance truck driving, #freelance trucking, #freelance lorry driving

    Excellent insight into ways Vs Road Lords. Just had to rely on road lords down by Lyon because motorway was shut and truck sat nav kept saying " do a bloody U turn" 😢

    Another excellent tutorial. I must admit I do like the luxury of pre planning my journey's. Especially when I am with my good lady Jan, who has driving anxieties. Keep up the good work

    Idea for a video - really nice shippers but really horrible receivers...
    I had a situation where I took on a job, all going well, got to the delivery point where I was instantly hit with abuse for not being there at the agreed time (apparently 2 hours before I even bid on the job), I explain the situation but not good enough, shouting and sweating. Eventually took one pallet then disappeared (with my pallet truck), 10 minutes later I called the shipper to explain, then went and found him, "I just need to finish this I'll get the other one in 20 minutes", I took my pallet truck back to the van, called the shipper and explained I would just need to take the second pallet back to the collection point. Next the guy comes back out shouting and swearing, being aggressive... I left, shipper calls, they were very nice about it, a few extra calls are made, I'm asked to go back and they've arranged for a new person to be on site to receive. Ended up "ok".
    What is the rights and wrongs here, what would be the correct way to handle this?.

    Road Lords is not available for iOS so Waze would be the better option or like you said have to get a second phone which would have to be Android

      Mate I've run into to some of the weirdest situations with my Go Expert 7. Telling me I can go down roads only cars bicycles can go down. The blue arrow ⬆️ goes off the blue line going in circles trying to figure out what to do next. When I needed the Tom Tom the most it has let me down. Sometimes I wonder was it worth that fricking price I paid for it. I've reset my device hoping it would fix the issues plus a new map update which worked more shit than before. How can a map update make it worse 😕

    I use Waze for almost all my driving but Christ it can take you through really narrow country lanes which can be quiet stressful. Plus sometimes it takes me to the right area but wrong location whereas Google maps will take me right to the right place all the time. I would use more often but I dislike it's orientation.

    My truck nav got broke over the weekend last week. I left it in the cab on my bed. But the cab got tilted and something fell onto it and smashed a screen. This week, I been using a spare phone using Copilot. It worked reasonably well for the trial period. Although, I have had a fairly easy week this week. Was asked to start at 7am Tuesday, I countered that as I couldnt get a lift that early, so I gone in to the yard Monday teatime. Did my checks, my boss bypassed the Thermostat as he noticed it was running a little hot when he was driving it to Newcastle earlier in the day. I drove upto Team Valley and parked outside my collection address for the night. Got loaded 9am for London Excel. Got tipped around 5pm ish. Parked for the night at the back of Sainsburys in Beckton. Had no job booked in by time I parked, so had to wait for a call from the boss Wednesday morning. Wednesday morning, boss tells me to goto Linton FM in Gravesend to pick up a load for Londonderry in NI but I only had to go as far as Liverpool. Took an hour to find the correct unit being a courier detective using google and walking around. There was no address. Just a street name. No contact number neither. I found their number on Google and it was a different company name instead. They were not expecting me until 1pm for a 9am to 1pm collection window. I left there at 11.40am got to Liverpool L24 at 6.15pm. As I was getting close, I started scouting parking spots on the way in to the drop as I had an idea I not be picking up again that day. Found a potential one on some waste ground down the side of a petrol station and a storage place. Rang my boss when I dropped, she told me to park up as I got a collection in the morning from Liverpool L24 to Manchester M44. Before she sent the email through, I started heading to the parking spot about a mile away. Got the email with the job on it. It only turned out I was parked across the road from the entrance to it so a lie in yesterday morning. Picked it up, stopped off for a toilet as couldnt be bothered to shit into a carrier bag while clapping my hands. Stopped at the services by Warrington. My boss rings 10 minutes before my drop worried as I been an hour on a quick 25 mile run. Told him I found sweetcorn in the toilet. He then tells me that they got me another job to pick up in Manchester M44 to go to Wolverhampton. Turned out once I dropped my first load. The collection was straight across the road. Dropped in Wolverhampton and then get told to get to Cannock for a load to pick up at 5pm for an urgent delivery to Vantec in Sunderland for a Nissan production line. He stressed it is important I get the load dropped off by 10pm or the factory be on shutdown. I got loaded at 3.30pm instead of 5pm which was handy. Had my break and got to Sunderland for 8.30pm where they had me sit outside the gatehouse an hour before giving me a bay and then half hour on a bay before they tipped me. I gone looking for someone as I was wanting to get out and park up to finish my shift before my 15th hour. They spoke to me like shite and threatened to refuse to tip me if I carry on with my attitude and if I leave my cab again. I blew my top and sped off the bay with curtains open and the straps off I made them come see me at the gatehouse if they want the load. Which they took it off straight away, I refused to turn the engine off and sat in the cab waiting to drive off. I am banned from the Vantec site now. The bosses dont mind as they dont pay us to sit around being spoke to like shite. Left the site, did up my curtain and drove 5 minutes to the yard to park up for the night. I drove nearly 2 miles with my tail lift out lol Woke up this morning in the yard and did some mechancing thing on my wagon. I surprised myself, I changed my own Thermostat on my wagon. I was soo chuffed. Except, I tightened one bolt too tight and cracked the housing which we had a spare on a knackered wagon. Handed in all my weeks paperwork in the office and gone upto Dunston, near the Metro Centre to collect a load of shop fittings for Tesco in Nottingham to be delivered Sunday teatime. The boss decided as it aint a high value load instead of me getting my dad to come pick me up I just take the wagon home for the weekend.

    You are doing a dangerous thing, comparing RoadLords with Waze, drivers might use your advice and drive like you and have an RTA.
    Waze is ONLY FOR CARS, whereas RoadLords is for any vehicle, but if set for HGV then you MUST RESPECT that navigation, it is there for a reason.
    If you want to make an even comparison, then you should have used Google Maps with Waze.

    Take the truck dimensions out of road lord's to give a look we if they choose the same routine

    • @LookOutForNumberOne
      @LookOutForNumberOne Год назад

      Correct but it would be pointless to use roadlords, better to use google maps and waze.

      @@LookOutForNumberOne 😁😁yes I understand that part my meaning was about would it choose the same route as Waze Google maps, I use road laws the free version I am starting to think that getting another sat nav because these apps yes helpful if not got a sat nav but finding with roadlaws it freezes up some times

    • @LookOutForNumberOne
      @LookOutForNumberOne Год назад

      @@mrbruce7401 I do agree that it freezers but I think it has to do with 2 things in the phone, One, the amount of apps it is running in the background and Two the availability of signal. I have 2 mobiles, company and my own, both with Road Lords installed, different operators. I use the company one for main navigation and the other if it asks for downloaded maps!!!!
