As good as this one is, anyone who thinks it's our whisky of the year had better hold onto their hats because it isn't! We'll be revealing that on Christmas day.
Ralfy picked this as his whisky of the year. I really enjoy all the Arran that I have tried. I haven't tried the 10, but I will be looking for this bottle!
Nice review for a lovely malt, cheers. I have an older label bottle in the stash and can say that the new livery bottlings are indeed much darker. The new one is definitely sweeter from memory but still very good
Bought a bottle a month ago and was love at first nose/taste a great drop which now may become a bit of a hunted drop. I have been thinking about getting the Quarter cask or Sherry bottling..any thoughts on those two.
Arran 10 has changed massively since its original incarnation. It was light & tropical, and almost half the price of the current bottle when I first bought it. It's now $65 in NYC if you can find it. It's a fine malt, but it's not exactly a bargain, especially when compared to other HQ 10s & 12s, and even a 13, from Glencadam, Ardbeg, Ledaig, Bunnahabhain, Deanston, Craigellachie and a few others✌️ And HA! Drumguish! Horrendous stuff! Is it still made? I think it was from Glen Spey, which I understand has cleaned up their act of late.
Christopher - you make a fair point about price, but us whisky fans can’t have it both ways. We cry out for quality presentation (high ABV, natural color and non chill-filtered), and then complain when we have to pay a bit more for those whiskies.
I enjoy this whisky but there's a lot of overhyped comment at the moment. It remains a solid 10 year old whisky and there's nothing wrong with that. I'm a big fan of Bimber which are producing great young whisky with old school traditional methods. This is a very good 10 year old but so is Springbank 10, Ardbeg 10, Talisker 10, Ledaig 10, Ben Nevis 10, Glencadam 10, Port Charlotte 10, Benromach 10 and the list goes on and on. This is interesting because of it's style which has been somewhat neglected of late. Nevertheless, it's a good value whisky but folk need to tone down the hype.

It won the 2021 Online Scotch Whisky Awards whisky of the year. Wonderful whisky especially when you consider the price.

This isn't quite our whisky of the year, but it's close. You'll have to wait until Christmas to find out what we picked.
I can only dream of this dram...Cheers...

Just love this bottle. It would. E good to shoot in comparison with the Barrel reserve to get the contrast. Cheers!
Nice review. Subbed

We've tried the Quarter Cask, and found it superb. Here's our review from early this year: ruclips.net/video/8Ld7TP2eBxk/видео.html

@@franklampard6316 Respectfully, all of those bottles I listed are of equal, or near equal quality, for substantially less.
The infamous Drumguish was made by the rather obliquely named 'Speyside' distilley, and I have no idea what shithousery they are up to these days.
@@TheSingleMaltReview Yes, you are correct 👍

A good call. I was very surprised to see it win best whisky at the OSWAs, but best Entry Level, yes, no problem there. I even gave it my vote.
Needs to go head to head with Glencadam 10.
Only impressed with their 18 and 21 year old. The others in my opinion are average at best and I personally would not buy them again...
