An addendum to your fun fact: A common fan theory is that the "human brains are processors" thing is actually what's going on, and that the "human bodies as batteries" thing is just a lie that the machines fed to the Zion "rebellion" when they set that whole thing up with the first One.
My own theory is that the matrix was made as a mercy for humanity so that they can continue even the machines could see that they would've been no better than the humans that tried to exterminate them so gave them a second chance in a simulated earth certainly better than the barren rock that the real earth became.
Makes sense, even today, there’s no computer that is capable of matching the big lump of grey matter housed in our skulls. If it wasn’t stuck micromanaging every subconscious process, our overall intelligence would increase greatly. So while highly unethical, using that processing power is definitely quite smart, as just a hundred humans provides well over a thousand terabytes of space, though I’m unsure as to how much processing power that translates to.
I love playing religious characters like Morpheus whenever I play tabletop. I will always pick the Cleric, or the Alchemist who follows a god of healing, etc., which is funny since I'm an atheist. x)
Atheists always play clerics it's very common! The D&D characters we play tend to be reflections/manifestations of our shadow, in Jungian psychological terms. A D&D character is like an alter-ego in the Freudian psychological sense.

@@joelsasmad haha. I'm not sure. But I'm sure there was a reason you chose to RP that character. Whether you are/were aware of that reason or not. My favourite character was a murder hobo through and through, a pyromaniac elf who by the end of the campaign was chaotic evil and quite irredeemable.
@@jackbush8223 That makes sense. That's just me, of course. If you believe in a higher power, that's totally fine.
Morpheus is very interesting to give an alignment to. I have seen people say he's true neutral and I've seen people say he's chaotic neutral. Great job on this one, no meme this time.
I'd say lawful good, he always tries to do the best and keep people safe (good) and he holds onto his values like nothing else, even if no one else believes in his religion (lawful)
The Wachowski’s I beleive wantes the “human processor” thing to be in the first Matrix, but execs found it to highbrow. At least the Matrix is also powered with “a form of fusion”.
Speaking as a Religious man myself, I'd say their is still room for the bigoted religious zealot who has is either following a corrupt or corrupted faith. I think the character is overdone, sure, but their are well done villains of this brand, Claude Frollo for example. I'd argue these characters are generally done a lot better when written by Religious people though, or at least those with respect for the religious. As they are often just a shallow straw priest with no real value. When done right the Zealot represents what happens when we allow ourselves to enter into a very narrow and puritanical mindset, and allow our hubris to overtake us. "I am right and everyone else is wrong", "I am Good and everyone who disagrees with me is evil", ect. These are very real and present mindsets that people easily fall into, with or without religion. Hell some people fall into it even without ideology. Though i suppose I'd like to see more secular Zealots and Hedonistic Zealots in fiction, to show that the Religon is not itself the root of all ideological extremism. However, i would hate to see depictions of the religious whitewashed and sterilized so that we are all painted as pure white sheep. I'd also like to add, I don't think you need a Religious character to have their faith disprove to make them complex, merely challenged. I also think most good characters should have their actions called into question, even, if not especially in Black and White morality tales, as I think it is a good chance to have a character have to ask, not only "am I right?" but "why am I right?" the answer can be answered in the story, but the real intent is to ask the question, and to have people ask themselves that question whenever they are trying to do something. Get people thinking critically. So we have a few less zealots in the real world. Something I would love to see is a story about a Hero having to fight a Zealot, who shares his ideology. Say two priests of the same religion at war with one another for the soul of their faith, add a third corrupt faction inspired by the Borgia's who they are both at war with, and watch the intrigue unfold. :)
love you guys man your amazing and can’t wait for the rest of the epithet erased series also molly’s dad is chaotic evil if you disagree please explain
Cypher is my favorite character. I think we all know how it feels to be him. We get asked to sacrifice time and time again just to watch the people we give up everything for waggle it in our faces. I didn't like him until I saw the orgy in the second one and said aha, I get why.
I'm so glad you included footage from the ping pong video; I remember when that one came out and still love it, so thanks for bringing it back to the forefront of my mind.
Loving these videos!!! Fingers crossed you cover my fav character The Merovingian, the character I think serves as an awesome counterbalance to Morpheus
Fun fact, they thought about leasing a freeway before deciding instead to build a 2 mile stretch of freeway specifically for the film. There’s a video on it on RUclips.
I remember watching the entire trilogy one night back when I was in high school. Are they perfect movies? No Do the sequels deserve a lot of the scorn they get? The hate gets way overblown in my opinion. Yes, the exposition can get a bit awkward, but you can really see the 90s sci fi anime influence. Especially for some of the philosophical talk and the action scenes. I'm hopeful for the fourth movie.
I keep thinking I like Science Fiction until I watch something like the Matrix and not understand a thing going on. I have to keep reminding myself it's Science Fantasy I like.
Another good video. I agree on how good a character Morpheus is and he's also my favourite character of this franchise wich is odd. Normally I prefer the struggles of characters with more egoism in them. When it come to stories where the whole world is at risk, the stakes are so high that they don't feel real (more than a fictional story shoul). That's because humans can't picture millions of people in danger because we simply don't know more than a few dozens or maybe a hundred people. When a hero is faced with a choice between the world and a loved one I prefer the heroes that make the selfish choice and have to live with that choice.
I just found your channel and have been watching a lot of your videos but this one was my favorite. As a religious man myself, I especially enjoyed Morpheus’s arc. Thinking about the archetypal religious person who goes through a trial of their faith, I was wondering if you’ve played FFX and what thoughts you had about Wakka? His journey seems similar to Morpheus.
Can you do a video on the "Murder Drones" Pilot? (Day 3). Interesting choice. While Morpheus is a very important character, I always felt that his character doesn`t change much. (I have ONLY watched the first movie and won`t watch the rest of the video to avoid spoilers.)
Definitely going to hard disagree that religious characters should always be depicted as doing the best for everyone even if it seems wrong but might be right. That seems like the other end of the intolerant religious character cliche you mentioned. We should never have 100% of both but should 100% show that religious people are...all over the place. People are religious for different reasons as well as having their own motivations not just "I wanna do good" lots of people are just religious because they're scared not to be so they love the Jesus but are still...selfish dicks. If you're just saying that the religious characters need to be more deep and less just screeching or pushing or following certain religious teachings and more about the psychology behind them and why and what it means to them etc. Just like with most characters really
