So, this is actually Daft Punk's “Ending theme”. Gorgeous.
they are great!🥳🥳
Sad
Yea...
Sad
I always imagined it was gonna be but man I wasn't prepared for it.
it's okay to cry, let's cry together
It’s just so sad
I needed this..

Despite being robots they were more human than most artists today. If that makes sense
Touch is probably Daft Punk’s most important song in their discography. It brings in the dance club vibe from Homework, the beautiful melodies from discovery, their improv from Human After All. Also the lore of robots trying to be human in the lyrics. Think the fans need to give this the love it deserves
its the pinnicle of thier evolution of discography, and ill go as far to say the pinnacle of music for it represents life itself
Makes sense why they chose the choir from this song for the final part of their goodbye video. I agree, it encapsulates a lot of what made Daft Punk hit so different. Not my favorite on the album but perhaps the most important.
@@tomvideo6051 Seeing as how Thomas is now composing orchestra says a lot about how they needed to evolve.
I always liked it. Drew you in, kept you there, then the abdupt ending...
Beyond is definitely next up
Came here after Epilogue.
Goodbye Daft Punk. Electronic music wouldn't be the same without you.
All types of music.
These were real free artists.
It’s thanks to them that electronic music became more mainstream, and with that, you can see their influence in the world with the electronic synth and catchy riffs that many artists employ in their music today.
Their impact is legendary, and will be missed, but if you are sad, don’t be. Music is a better place because of them, so be happy for what they’ve achieved, and look forward to a brighter future. Life ain’t always empty.
The hand symbol used in epilogue is the Peace in PLUR. My money is on 3 more songs. It said 2021 and not February 2021. That’s my guess. We still need Love, Unity, and Respect. Hold on.
@@willmmm9916 could be their way of saying "peace" as a goodbye. Hard to tell

"Hold on, if love is the answer, you're home"
That lyric hits in a different way, especially when it's sung by a choir
Yeah it really does. It has that pure just raw emotion which is what I think they were going for. And I gotta say it worked very well
Even more when you know that one of the members answered on a French TV show the question why did they split with a clip of the movie "Modern times "and the quote " Thanks, if Love is the answer you're home"....
It's says hold instead of home, either way you can feel the intention and it's get deep into you

This song perfectly captures what depression can feel like, what being numbed can feel like, what unrequited love can feel like, what LIFE feels like. God, daft punk is beyond an artist
to have a brief moment to feel "human"

I thought the complete opposite when I first heard this song. How crazy. It feels like hope and remembrance mixed with relief. Always loved it for those reasons. It's a masterpiece from the muses and I wouldn't couple them with a thought of depression on any day.

Let's be honest. The whole album is literally a masterpiece. Especially this song.

I really hope that they didn't split due to interpersonal issues. But, regardless, I think they chose this song for the ending because, for those of us who love their music, that's all we need. It's over, but we still have 28 years of music to relish. Done, but not gone.
I think they started doing solo stuff, some for film soundtracks etc. It's not the end of their career.
They chose this song to make us remember that they are humans, to remember the love is the answer, and to let us know they are in home when we hear they music, but mostly, to remember, that's why they put Da Funk at the end of Epilogue
This are my thoughts after hearing "I remember touch" and my way to see the epilogue
I think they split probably because they didn’t get along anymore. Otherwise I feel like they would’ve given us one more album or concert or at least a new video with new footage of them. They’ve probably been split up for some years now.
What i understood from the epilogue is, 1 of them wanted to stop. Seeing as how they are both walking and one of them slows down and stops, as if he's tired and doesn't want to go on.
@@thomaspereira1545 If you look at their latest soundtrack credits (Caspar Noe's Climax for instance) we can guess...
What a fucking masterpiece.

@@markgalloway4129 Damn straight. In this Giorgio by Moroder were phenomenal. Hell, RAM for me would be a 10/10 album IF some of the last tracks were trimmed (motherboard and fragments of time). Don't get me wrong, those are fantastic too, but they couldn't match the level of the songs before (Giorgio, Instant Crush, Touch, Within, Game of Love). Doin it Right was pretty sick though.
I'm one of the few people who prefers RAM sonically over Discovery (because I was literally a year old when Discovery came out). So whilst I think Discovery is their most influential work, RAM has a special place in my heart.

I don’t think the first time I heard daft punk was as important as the first time it really hit me. And this song hit me especially. I had listened to daft punk here and there from what was popular, and get lucky was always playing on the radio. I had gotten curious about the other songs on this album and that’s when I stumbled across touch. It was 3 am and I was 11-12 living in a hotel with a large family. This song felt like a robot, disabled and taken apart in a dark attic suddenly coming alive and talking about how he could feel, and slowly went through the different times of its lifespan. This song was alive and it was the song that pushed me into creating something cinematic only using sounds. I wish I could listen to this for the first time again, and now that daft punk ended I feel empty, but hearing this at the end of epilogue just felt right. Felt complete.
This is beautiful
Well said homie. Bittersweet, but at least we had them for some time.
Hey stranger... Hope your life is happy and safe now. Peace.

Can’t agree more my friend, this music in the end of the epilogue indeed felt complete.
Can we just take a moment to appreciate the soft, tender, emotional vocals by Paul Williams? That slight quiver of his voice makes it so much more heartbreaking and real. He's perfect for this song.
YES. THIS RIGHT HERE!
Agreed; Daft Punk's selection of guest artists was impeccable in RAM.

If love is the answer, you're home. Hold on.
I also listened to this song a lot when my father passed away, still do.
OH MY GOD!!!! IM SO SORRY :(
Man, this song lives up to its name.
In my mind _Random Access Memories_ is the story of a person who gradually morphed into a robot, and is trying to listen to old music to figure out how to be human again. It's an allegory for the transformations of the electronic music industry and probably Daft Punk themselves.
It's one of the best albums I've heard in a very long time because of its humanity, and none of it would work without this song.
Dude, I thought I was the only one who thought that...
Give this dude a god damn cookie... seriously... please !
Your comment just made me smile :')
***** That would be an amazing music video for this song like it's a robot who is listening to this song and memories flash before his eyes about the years when he was human about him dancing with the love of his life etc and in the end a tear sheds his face making him look human again
Genar Toma You're a genius man. Also your idea reminds me INTERSTELLA 555 when they were aliens and then transformed into humans to exploit them. They used to remember his past where they were happy . Hopefully Daft Punk listen and heed your idea. Excuse my English, I'm using GOOGLE TRANSLATOR

When I heard this song play at the end of the Epilogue, I literally broke down crying. I remember discovering this song 3 years ago and thinking "Holy shit, why am I just now discovering this?"
Everything from composition, the emotional transitions, the vocals: this song felt like the amalgamation of the human experience and it always had a special place in my heart. Best part of the song
I used to listen to this song all the time in high school when I was suicidal and completely alone. I felt like a robot trying to remember how to feel, just like the intro. It was a long hard journey, but I held out for love and eventually found it within myself and the friends I didn't realize were there. I haven't heard this song in years. Daft Punk wasn't the biggest part of my life, but hearing their music inspired happiness throughout my childhood and made me feel alive when life felt meaningless. Hearing this song in the Epilogue hit like a ton of bricks. Daft Punk, thank you so, so much. Life will feel different knowing you're not making music anymore, but I know that what you've made will help and bring joy to others forever.

cette partie a été utilisée pour le générique de la mondaine dans l'émission quotidien sur TMC, une chaîne française
It's bittersweet
i'd like to extend that so it begins on 2:35
0:00 To me, the beginning is like a robot recounting his past. Broken, worn out, forgotten. Consumed by his memories of better times. Obsessed over them. His lost ability to do. To do anything. Finished alongside the world. Unable to do more. Truly at an everlasting end. We dive deeper and deeper into it's turmoil, until we awaken to his past: When the lyrics begin.
1:54 Here, I imagine a cut to the robot becoming conscious. The cadence of the music matching his thoughts at the time. Like a baby born into the world and crying for the first time. Not knowing what his feelings are: Why was he made? why can he think at all? He has a job to do, why not do it without complicating anything? He asks "what do you see in me? i don't make sense." (Tell me what you see, I need something more.)
2:36 The sudden shift in tone is when he sees something and forms an idea of it. How he FEELS about it. It was his thought. What he felt didn't mean anything. Not to anyone but him. His circuits light up. His memory banks open. This dream he was merely forced to witness was HIS now. He looks around more wondering in wonder at how much there really was. Sure, he already knows what it all looks like. what it does. But the captivating thing to him was how HE was seeing it now. The "why?" of it all had overtaken him. He had questions. He wanted them answered. He had PURPOSE. The off-standing researchers watch him eagerly out of sight.
He gets up from his original room, walks to the door to find a hallway behind it. He really understands he is in a facility now, part of something bigger. He is going to find out what it is. what his place in it is.
3:01 Eventually he stumbles toward a room, one the researchers had set up for him to observe and learn. It was full of toys, interactive computer equipment, books and e books.
3:15 But eye-catching to him is a corner full of instruments: a large grand piano in the middle as a center piece. Hesitantly, and eagerly, he approaches it. sitting on the bench, he hits a few notes. unknown to him, he was created with perfect tone. He hits keys. He begins to favor other ones. He finds out which ones sound even better together. Which should come after the other. He lights up, he has purpose. He has freedom. He has something to express it through. At this point, we spin around the scene and cut into the future. He is out in the world, playing in a jazz band. Behind him an energetic crowd and around him talented and understanding band mates. Through here on out, we see various cuts of his life as a professional musician, travelling, playing, something new and exciting always waiting for him somewhere, like it always has been. His craft is approaching perfection. His friends are content. His creators are immensely pleased.
4:17 And strangely it begins to feel different. The same as always, but now somehow different. He hadn't aged. He couldn't. Although he had been sure he could do this forever, it was different now that he actually end up doing it. Off put by this, he watches the world around him happen so quickly. His mind runs millions of times faster then any one person's. He sees the gap between him and others. He is quietly curious of the emotion of "love." He, being programmed to think individually, didn't seem to have his own definition of love. He reflects. His life's spark. To learn. To improve. To belong. It was his love. He would hold onto it. He lived in it, it was his home. His answer. He methodically begins to reassure himself of this, and years fly past him. Band to band, into and out of irrelevancy... decade after decade, century to century, the performing robot. He kept it up all the same, until one day, while simply playing his instrument...
5:36 He does it. He finishes. He wasn't aware he was close, but the moment it had happened he froze, horrified. He had played it all. All of the piano's tunes.
To perfection.
He could no longer learn. He had been taught, had taught, experimented, made mistakes, created genres, made masterpieces in existing ones, and the whole world had seen and appreciated the work and switched to doubt it later. His instrument couldn't bring him more. He finished the tune. Nothing to play. Although he considered running another number, what would that do for him? He needed the new, the exciting, and it had run out, just like that. It would be feeble to try and find more from it. and then a bigger realization: he could try something else, but eventually he would define that thing to himself as well. For the first time ever, he can see an end: what he could find would run out some day. He was not immortal. His love wasn't meant to last.
6:03 His memories begin to be recounted. His first moments in the sun. Fireworks. Award shows. Being booed off the stage. Block parties. Each a new, painful emotion.
But even in this melancholy, he knew he had one option: to begin on his inevitable path. He would perfect it all one day. As he walks away from the now obsolete piano, we begin to see him grow and become more and more, but remember his glaring end along side him. He learns each part of every band, and even plays entire bands himself. He takes it all to the very limit and moves along, hoping to delay the end he will one day reach. He mastered music eventually, his younger counterpart's dream. Then he went to the rest of entertainment and arts. Then education. Then politics. Then so forth. He masters the most basic tasks to the most elite and ambitious jobs in the world. Creating new. Experiencing it. Bloating it in an attempt to satisfy his impossible need. This too became boring. He began menial tasks he would randomly think up. Anything was fair game. Centuries move by. Millenia. He still holds his love dearly. He could still find home.
7:46: But alas, our fated end. His love itself had been mastered. The humans around him could no longer interest him. Many had moved on, like they had before. To the next piece of the universe they could go to survive. He had been along with them many times, each ending the same way. The world was no longer a problem to be solved. He had never brought peace, since such a thing could not be done. He knew that better then anyone. Anything. So here he sits, on this finalized rock. Time was already beginning to repeat itself. He was given the human spirit, along with it a body that would not decay. He was the living embodiment of immortality. But now, he was dead. Fully conscious and aware within his body, but dead. He had killed the human spirit. Realized it's age. He had done it all and then again. Now, on this now dying, spent planet he sat, unmoving. He briefly observed his surroundings again, hoping for a memory error to give him a chance renew something in there, but that had been something he solved and unsolved. It was time. Time to be done. To be complete. He briefly recalls his younger times, which he considered reliving. But it would all bring him back here again, leaving it with no point as well. And with this logical conclusion, he stood, unable to quit. On standby until existence was over. It wasn't enough for him anyway. He needed something more....
TLDR: I like this song. It's about robots n stuff
Honestly beautiful

RAM is gonna be a classic is some years.
Sergio Martínez We can say RAM is already a classic, it influence a lot of the 2010's Music, maybe the iconic album of this decade because of this influence (Bruno Mars, The Weeknd, Pharell Williams,...).
Always come back to RAM. It coincided with a really happy time in my life and just listening to it brings back memories. They should really release a new album already, please.
It's already
It's five years old now, its officially a classic!
Hombre, RAM nació siendo un clásico
My dad introduced me to this album. He died 3 years ago. It doesn't feel real sometimes.
With you on that one, brother. My old man died at the tail end of 2021 and it still hasn't properly sunk in. Shows up in about every dream I have, and I still keep thinking to myself that I need to ring him and tell him I finally got a BMW GS. Life is a hell of a thing, man. I'd probably go as far as to say that it's a good deal more horrible than it is nice - but it's better than nothing, eh. Glass half-full, and all that.
I've my notifications turned off so don't bother replying or anything - but I love you, man, and I hope you're as well as you can be.
Our LOVE is with us, within us, it's us. We're now with who we love. So your dad.. he lives in you

Such a very well built song. It's like an emotional journey. At first it's like the idea of "touch" is something completely alien to you, the effect reinforced by the distant robotic effects and voice, you're like a robot with barely any recollection of what touch or feeling is. Then longing arises expressed in a very emotional and human voice. Then the fast, fun, melodic bit is like experiencing the near forgotten emotion, possibly falling in love. Then near the end you experience the beauty of love, expressed by the angelic voices and in the very end it says "you've given me too much to feel", which is a complete contrast to the beginning. And there's also the idea of belonging, home and peace going through the song. Amazing composition. Amazing song.
"You've almost convinced me I'm real" was such a powerful line. This song truely is a work of art.

"As Bangalter and de Homem-Christo talk about "Touch", there's still a sense of astonishment in their voices. "It was the most complicated thing we've ever done," says Bangalter. "And it became so exciting because it didn't feel like we took the easy route. With this record, we had the luxury to do things that so many people cannot do, but it doesn't mean that with luxury comes comfort." It's this high-stakes, high-wire mindset that keeps these guys in an enviable position within the collective imagination, no matter how long they take between magic tricks. This genuinely is one of their most beautiful songs. A true work of art, you can hear all of the heart that went into the creation of this song
I know this comment will get buried, but I gotta put this out there. I remember being 13 years old and stumbling across this song and being completely enthralled by it. A lot was going on at that time and this song helped me put the pieces together.
Over time my taste in music has developed and Daft Punk took a backseat in my playlist. Just today, my 23rd bday, I came across RAM again and decided to give it another listen. I completely forgot this song existed and I got to listen to it all over again and resdiscover it, and I was brought to tears. What a rush. The most effective example of musical storytelling.
Much has changed since then and this song serves as a reminder of how far I’ve come. It’s like a window to the pain and uncertainty of 13-year-old me. Crying to this song again 10 years later feels like holding his little hand. I do what I do for him.

This ultimately has to be their magnum opus. Is it their most popular song? No. Is it their most commercially successful song? No. Is it the one that's going to have the longest lasting effect on people and be one of the most well remembered? Definitely.
Rarely are the commercially successful songs considered the best for a good artist. Touch isn’t your conventional, generic pop piece and it’s a crying shame it got overlooked by even diehard fans.
Thankfully, people are finally finding out about the ACTUAL gems in Daft Punk’s discography.
Considering how deeply _Phantom Of The Paradise_ resonated with them, wholly inspiring their leather-clad, helmeted personas, this collaboration with Williams has got to be the perfect bookend to their career.......... they've come full circle. It makes me feel things :'V
The whole albums their magnum opus. This and Giorgio I think were special to the robots though, it's just seems to be
I personally think it’s the greatest song ever to be made with second place not even being visible. And I don’t really even like daft punk that much.

When this album first came out, I locked myself in my room, put some headphones on, and listened to the entire album. When I reach the last part of Touch, I actually cried. No song has ever left me with tears.
I discovered one incredible thing... The music in the Epiloguevideo (after the death of the robot) is the children chorus from this "Touch" RAM album ("If love is the answer you're home, hold on") instead of Prelude 4 in E minor from CHOPIN in the original movie ("Electroma", 2006). BUT, actually, the melody is almost the same !! The two robots wanted to show (and admit, as a last hommage to Chopin) that they had taken the melody from this Prelude for the end of their most ambitious track in their last album... Compare both, and you will see, it is obvious. What an elegant way to say goobye, by greeting the french-polish composer... Daft Punk will stay in History like Chopin !

@@Profkol0rado oh wow, who would have guessed?
I love this song. My mama bought the CD back in the summer of 2013 and would play it in the car all the time. She'd always put it on whenever we went to this chicken place near our house. Every time we'd hope in the car, we'd breeze past green fields and an impossibly blue sky. I'd stare into the sky and space out to this very song. I loved those moments. I really did. I'm just afraid that I'm not always going to be able to look back on them so fondly. I'm afraid it's all going to sink into melancholy one of these days.
But man. I loved those moments. I really did.

This is probably the best song for an end
This is my analysis of Touch
The intro consists of a disturbing robotic voice yearning for "touch" accompanied by almost computer like sounds in the background as it builds up and turns into Paul Williams voice. This is where the robot experiences Touch and feels more so like a human. Then the song breaks into a melody which sounds very similar to the hook from Get Lucky, before progressing into a romantic beat with a choir in the background. The robot found love (maybe he got lucky?) which explains the lyrics: "if love is the answer hold on". At the end of the song, it goes back to Paul Williams voice saying that Touch was not enough to make him feel human, that he needed something more. That something more is love.
Genius at work
For me that's a perfect song who speaks about an intermediate partner, you could heard love boat song, before one of the best musical part, just to thanks to left live come back. Just perfect
