This is the opposite when people say "I don't have anything prepared" and pull out a Bible thick speech. This is the first time I've heard someone say "I didn't prepare anything" and I believe it. And he's still just funny AF.
These are so weard comments to me. Yeah sure it's not like fully immersing into a whole another character from yourself but it's going thru the emotions and circumstances of the character, in this case like you would be born abused, in a mega-rich family. Say 99% of Anthony Hopkins performances are that, him also acting "as him" thru what the character is and people never say he's just being himself. Also in quite many shows the writers pull dynamics from what they see around them, how certain actors get along and some of their mannerisms etc. Just to make the show feel more authentic and get ideas, it's longterm so you don't have to so Fully immerse (say for James Gandolfini Sopranos was a grueling gig because the days were 14h for him since he is in almost every shot and doing a totally 180° spin character from himself from how the character speaks to Everything really). For example the Roman and Gerry plot came totally from them coming along so well on the set. Yeah sure he Kieran is funny and charismatic kiiinda in a way of Roman, but he is actually super down to earth just by knowing that it's rare for an actor to get one lightning in a bottle role in the same caliber project, as he said (I'll never be given another one of these). Which is super opposite of being Roman, to be down to earth in any manner. There is also so much small stuff he does technique wise regarding to acting that I don't think people even notice it, same have been with for example Alexander Skarsgård as Mattson (so many very small posturing or looks etc. that tells a lot if you pay attention to the characters motivation/mindset). I just find it very downplaying the talent to say the guy doesn't even act but is himself. I do get it's for he he's and ha ha's but I just think it's fundamentally wrong and disrespectfull to the work put in. Especially when seeing more long form relaxed interview or whatever with him, he's nothing like Roman really (maybe only in how nonchalant he might seem under pressure, but even that really get's to him like you can see how nervous he is in the SNL monoloque). I genuinelly think if he was in Succession a majority of the time with just whatever, an army jacket on but otherwise have the same performance, people wouldn't say this thing all the time. The suit alone does a lot of the association because you watch him in some fancy things in the show and now in a gala, so he wears suit in both and just looks like the character. Just the suit being a color brown with patterning would lower the association with him and the character. (He was in one of the talk shows, one of the Jimmy's in Roman suit because he came straight from set and needed a suit so why not...).
Not easy to be THAT unprepared, THAT casual and not come off as not caring. You get the sense he is really happy to have the award but genuinely doesn't know what to say. That had the potential to be incredibly boring and uncomfortable, yet we ended up with something genuine, moderately funny and so very refreshing. I appreciate that he thanked the people closest to him, thanked the network, dropped a few bombs, and that was it.
I used to like KENDALL. But then i watched the show for a second time and i got to see that kendall is a JERK. He trashes anyone who disagrees with him... and i dont like the way he treated GREG with that "gift" (the watch)
I loved how he was totally unprepared for the speech and actually meant it. So refreshing that he doesn’t obsess over awards like others, especially actors. I adored when he kept on saying “Shut up” during his speech. So cute and endearing.
Exactly. Meaning that there's very little acting involved. English Matthew playing American Tom on the other hand, playing so brilliantly and extraordinary is what is called acting and what should be rewarded!
@@gor764 might be awesome, but it's NOT acting. Tom is the total opposite of Matthew, and that is ACTING, extraordinary acting! Matthew deserved to win this one, not Kieran!
I'm amazed we haven't seen more Kieran Culkin roles. I want to see him as a main character in the future. He played Scott Pillgrims gay roomate like a decade ago and killed it in that as well. Guy is genuinely hilarious.
Kieran Culkin is such a breath of fresh air 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣💯🫶🏻 dude is naturally funny and super talented, hope he gets an emmy and golden globe for the final season of Succession 🤝🏻🤘🏻💯
Obsessed loved the show so much. And had to stalk the whole Mckaulkin family after watching as you do when you get into a show. Fascinating, but what an amazing character he had some of the best one liners and delivered an amazing performance. So well deserved and also seems a humble, normal decent human despite the fame game. Need next series asap. Sarah snook also stunning to watch
Exactly. I find it so funny most people don’t realize this is the case with 90% of actors in the role of such a “nuanced character”. It’s just their personality. Another example I can think of is Carol from the walking dead. She literally is carol. That said, Kieran is great either way 😄
His hands are so shaky. He is really nervous and unprepared for the award...Now, it's time for Emmy. Come on, Kieran! I can't wait to see his Emmy speech.
"Romulus, when you laugh, please do it at the same volume as everyone else. We didn't get you from a hyena farm.”
Watched this episode yesterday
Such an iconic dialogue this is! Kudos to writers
😂
😂🤣
What a line...
It is worthy to note: Connor Roy has been interested in politics from a very young age hence his absence
Really classic😂, But Conor Roy has indeed been interested in politics from a very young age.

Not sure what you mean...

when has that ever happened?
Really?! You've never seen an award recipient stumble through an ad libbed acceptance until now? Sure. 🙄
I couldn’t even imagine roman roy play by someone else
Agree. The role is so perfect for him.
@@makipizon succesion is a definition of perfect casting
Reminds me of how RDJ almost too perfect for Tony Stark
I can’t believe they initially wanted him to play Greg! He is a perfect Roman!
I can’t either…. He’s perfect. All of them are playing the correct character. I’m team Kendall
Excellent acting. He literally went up and accepted an award as the character he played. Love it
Or he is a shit actor and the character he plays is not so different from him lmao.
um, that's the way he really is, so when he's on screen he's actually not acting at all lol
@@gregchristopfel8106 should he really get an award then, though?? "wonders"

Now we're looking at Kieran Culkin and Elizabeth Olsen.

He stays in character 24/7, dedicated.

No shet. Mr, obvious/oblivious
Hysterical! 😂. Clearly didn’t really prepare. But still knocked it out of the park
Funny, amusing but hardly hysterical.
Kieran is actually Roman. No fucking doubt.

To be fair, that went much better than the last time I saw him give a speech in front of a large group of people.

He has to get the Emmy now!
He was so nervous but came so well, that's what a true actor is, hope to see him back in Succession S4 and other projects, really like his work
Which brought out openness and authenticity but still coherency
Yes. A *true* actor comes unprepared and stumbles through their dialogue. I guess it's called "Method Acceptance?"
My God, he was shaking the same way he was at Logan's wake.
