I believe it’s Phillips screwdrivers 0 & 00 along with a tweezers and a guitar pick. There may be an H5 as well. I do a lot of handhelds I’ll try going g through my uncut footage if I find time to figure out for sure but not much needed for this handheld.
I swapped my membranes but with them from a newer handheld. I haven’t figured out which are swappable but I’ll do a little research I’m curious as well

I bought a R36S with a 128 card and it only worked one time.. now it turns on and shows the opening graphics but then the screen goes black with a yellow or white cursor in the top left corner blinking. Should i pay to fix it? I paid $100 for the unit and am not sure if it can be fixed.
This sounds like the memory card is having an issue. I always recommend replacing these cards. Have you backed it up yet, if not I would do that and then replace the card.
Question: I just bought a R40S Pro and there wasn’t the 256gb memory card that was supposed to come with it, but it does have over 1,000 games, though I imagine the card would have provided me with the other 14,000 claimed. Is this a problem or can I try to download on a new memory card what is currently running the console? I’ve heard this has happened to others buying the R40S Pro.
You are able to use any card you would like. I normally order handhelds without cards. When you do get a card with a retro handheld I would recommend replacing it anyways because the cards that come with most of these devices are easily corrupted.
stick a cheap low profile nvme heatsink there to complete your r36s mod 👍 I actually like r36s stock back buttons, I push them by their tip with little effort compared to pushing them normally
I knew the heatsink was coming lol. I’ll be opening it back up whenever I get a WiFi chip. I’ll look at adding a heatsink then. Even though I can’t see it being necessary this mod was mostly about the unnecessary
@@CellPhishfew tips for nvme heatsink mod, I use 0.5 thermal pad, put 1 layer of thermal pad on ram and cpu chip, 2 layer of thermal pad on rk817 (small chip near power button) also put on small patch of pad between the heatsink and back case to secure it, the metal heatsink though low profile is kinda heavy while r36s is fine without heatsink, putting it on dissipate significant heat at the back case and make the screen cooler. without heatsink on you can feel the screen heating up when playing heavy game please do follow up video when you're done with your wifi mod
So i got my R36S updated it like you showed with only 1x 128GB card in the TF1 OS port and after the bootup screen it shows a blinking white line and doesnt do anything else. Any idea?

If you havnt figured this out yet you will need to replace the controller profiles. If its just while gaming its a Retroarch file if its full device you will have to reinstall the software (really just the controller profile I, just not sure how to explain that so reflashing the firmware will work)

If you find one let me know. Doing mods has turned me into a collector. I think the only thing that might hold that back is the cost of the screen which may need to be swapped with the housing
You can do firmware without modding. I would recommend using a new SD card. Save your ROMs & Bios - Download the firmware for the R36S (there is a separate custom build by a developer) - write the image to the new sd with a program like Rufus - place card in device and boot - place card back into computer and move your ROMs and bios onto card - enjoy
Most would like the sticks. The back buttons are different and the firmware is slightly different but yes. Most could. Maybe I’ll make another video I have a k36

I don't think it can outperform a redmagic 8 and in my book thats like the top flagship for emulation as of 2023 , the red magic 9 is out as of today but the RM8 is still a top top flagship for emulation

Where can I buy replacement YXBA silicone membrane? I played too much Final Fight and now the B button has a tendency to stick and won't pop back out.

Check to make sure you have the right version of software for your screen. Also make sure your display cable is seated correctly

You can drag and drop them from one card to another. Just make sure you put them in the correct folders as they are likely named differently

I’ve never come across a Batocera build for the R36S. The updated build for the handheld is great however

There are speakers that will fit. There is no specific kit however like you would see with the Miyoo Mini Plus
What are the benefits of the custom firmware?
Typically better performance allowing better emulation experiences. More often than not a lot of work goes into optimization.
Are the new buttons quieter than the loud, clicky original buttons?
The back buttons yes. The start select would be hard to make quieter with buttons because they sit on super stiff micro switches

how does the dpad feel in comparison to oem dpad
This is a tricky question as they have changed the DPad a couple times since launch. That being said it feels way better than my launch device

The games are in the roms folder. You need to take them from there and put them in the new room folder

Not particularly. There isn’t much calibration that’s controllable to fix skipping typically unfortunately

All you need to do is make sure you shut the power down

They use switch sticks. So cheap and readily available

Has it always done that? You can fix the partitions with mini partition wizard. You shouldn't have any additional partitions on the games card

I have links to everything in the video in the description. The PlayStation buttons come out of France but you should be able to get them.
