    Thanks I've been researching for my first dog that I'm hoping to get when I move out and have a stable enough job so this is super helpful. I'm surprised you don't charge money for this info you seem very professional!

    Hello Dr. Rea,
    I have a question for you if I may? You know how you always talk about adding things like (vitamins, toppers, fish oils etc.) to a pet food can offset the balance of the food you are feeding? Does that theory apply to FortiFlora? I am just curious as I just started giving it to my cats recently. I got that one through my Veterinarian but I know they have one at the pet stores too. Thanks in advance for your time. ☺️

      I’d not mix probiotics but a single source should be fine

    Dr. Rea, what is your opinion of Badlands Ranch adult dog food?

    • @AnimalDocRea
      @AnimalDocRea  7 часов назад

      Not good since I e emailed them about 3 times for nutrition information and have never heard back. I’ve given up on them at this point

    Dr. Rea, do you have an opinion on slow feeder bowls? Do they make a difference if you have a fast eating dog?

    I was totally duped by the ingredient thing. Orijen had the first 11 ingredients, all meat o differentvariety, so I assumed the protien was higher than the food with only 2 named meat proteins, one being a meal, it was Tiki Cat. Welp, Tiki Cat, had significantly more protein on a dry matter basis than the Orijen food.

      It is all about the numbers not the marketing. Great job catching that and grasping the true concept!

      @@AnimalDocReaYep, thanks to you. It's so easy to tell if a food is worth even looking into! It's all about macro nutrition! With all this bird flu going around. I'm so happy to be off the raw bandwagon! I'm so sorry for my early comments 😢

      No worries, it’s about learning process. You didn’t have the information presented to you at the time that could properly resonate. Good for you to take it all in and make a decision for yourself once you had all the information. As you know, not all people do that. In the end we all want the same thing, that’s the important thing to remember. No hard feelings here.

    Would Purina Pro Plan sensitive skin and stomach (Lamb and oats) be a good option for a dog that needs lower sodium content? Ever since I put both of my dogs on Stella and chewy, they just constantly seem dehydrated. They drink so much water and can’t even hold it until morning. (We live in Colorado where it’s so dry). I don’t suspect any serious medical concerns but would like to switch them to a lower sodium food. Also, are grain free foods usually higher in sodium?

    • @AnimalDocRea
      @AnimalDocRea  5 дней назад

      Sodium levels vary from bag to bag, you'll need to check the label to see. Grain-free is not necessarily higher.

    This is so stressful. i've been watching a bunch of videos, including many of yours trying to find a food that fits every category and i feel like i can't find one. i have 2 dogs that are both 11 years old. and while it's later in their life i want to give them something better. But it seems like every brand is off in some way.
    They have mostly had blue wilderness Adult and Kirkland Adult brand over their life.

    Ok. I made notes and this video has been a good start but still have some questions..
    So I di always need to ask for dry matter basis analysis right?
    Then compare that with witch chart? I don’t understand the excat numbers or ideal numbers? Wich chart of the ones on the bottom info are the ones ?
    I am looking for cat food wet and dry

    Just amazes me how all the bad cheap brands people hate like pedigree and dog chow, are closer to what dvms have studied and recomend, over boujiee brands that are as much as a car payment a month to feed.

    • @rodneykrhodes
      @rodneykrhodes 7 дней назад +3

      Amen to this. I started buying dog chow bc of Dr Rae’s review of it. More affordable and really good for my pup!

    • @AnimalDocRea

      Boujie brands take to mu. Creative license to try and attract the humans vs actually feed for optimal performance.
