With the ends simply tucked, it's not very secure. Anchoring the ends does help. If you want security, you could lace with regular “Straight Bar Lacing” - which ties across the top - then only run the 2nd color shoelace through all the rows except the top row. Finally, you could also consider elastic shoelaces like U-Lace for the horizontals, giving security plus allowing much easier slip-on/off.
It depends on your shoes - the number of eyelts and how widely they're spaced. For accuate lengths, I have a calculator! www.fieggen.com/shoelace/shoelacecalc.htm
This is old school, a break dancing trend back in the day. Always wanted to learn how to do this. The first lace he did was the main style of the 80’s hip hop shoe game.
Best video - straight forward, gets right to it, and very easy to listen to friendly narration. Thanks for the refresher course.
You're welcome, I'm pleased that you liked the style of my video. Enjoy the lacing!
Thanks, Ian! This lacing is certainly beautiful, but I wonder how secure and practical it would be if tied on a pair of shoes that are worn regularly?

That's why you are professor showcase.
If "showcase" was an auto-correct, it's actually pretty accurate in this instance.
Hey Ian, thank you so Much for helping my vans have mad shoelace patterns with easy step by step instructions!
You're welcome, Jesse. Happy to hear that you've gotten into the spirit of decorative lacing and that my instructions have made it easy for you.
ProfessorShoelace thank you so much once again, as an autistic person, this has really has helped me out! Legend
I was doing this in 8th grade 2003
“Checkerboard Lacing” has been on my website for almost as long (since 2004).
I have been doing this for just as long but I haven’t used two shoelaces before. Just one.
I have been doing it since 1985
This is some cool lacing
Thanks, I hope you try it and get some equally nice comments from others.
What length of laces do you recommend to achieve this?

Sadly, I missed that scene here in Australia. Or maybe it was happening here and I was just hanging out in the wrong places.
@@ProfShoelace it’s great to hear from you professor shoelace, seeing as it has been years since your last upload. Hope all is well

You're welcome, I hope the video helped you figure out the lacing.
Quite like this one
Thanks, enjoy the lacing.
Wow nice
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it.
I bet in your younger years you were a cool fella
(*smile*) As a young guy, I wasn't that cool fashion-wise, but luckily my friends still figured I was cool.
Holy shit.
Love it when a video causes a “reaction”.
