Pasty developer here. Thanks for the shout-out! I really appreciate your attention to my app. There is another one that I'm currently working on you may find useful - Lasso window manager.
That's awesome 👏 You did a fantastic job and I am definitely giving your Lasso app a try! I am pinning this comment if someone else want's to check it out: www.thelasso.app/
with a nice Satechi HUB, this Mac mini M4 with a decent config, could be the new Mac Studio.....with a pocket size ! ( probably the most amazing Apple gear in 2024 !.... and more powerfull than a PC ? ) Cheers from France !!
I'd love to see if you found any utility apps like these for your Windows setup. We'd love to see how we can improve our Windows workflow using apps similar to what has been shown here.
I got a 1080p 60 FPS web camera. It nice for casual and professional web camera meetings. Examples: Family meetings across state/country lines, work meetings from home, and keeping up with kids in college out of state, and many more. Mine was $30 USD. Also, the USB A to USB Type C adaptors are so low costing. Between $8 to $10 USD on Amazon.
You know, I never remember the name of this channel. Worse, I never know if I'm looking for it or for Patrick rambles 😂😂😂. Whenever I'm looking for it, I reach for "subscribe because, whi not". Works every time
@ThisIsE, would you be so kind as to tell me the name of the MacOS application that allows focusing on a window just by hovering the mouse over it (without clicking)? I think its name has something related to balloons?
Using DaVinci for 4K Video Editing with an M1 Pro 16 Core GPU: is it worth upgrading to the base Mini M4 or should I consider the Mini M4 Pro? Thanks and keep up the great work.
Your 'Monitor Control' suggestion really made my day. Though I couldn't find 'Autoraise' in my app store. Might be unavailable in my country. Ironically I have most of these suggested gadgets but my desk looks like a junkyard. Wish I could stay this organised.
Great ideas all of them. One thing I noticed es is that you too have joined the clubb of non-smart watches with a smart ring ( I went with the Samsung Ring - still with the Fold 6 next to the iPhone).
My Samsung ring died so I went back to Ultrahuman which is a bit less comforatble but it does provide better insights. I need to find a way to repare the Galaxy Ring.
Man thanks for this. I just got the M4 Mac mini and have been having trouble getting everything to "talk to each other". Having trouble getting the Logitech cameras to record past 720p etc. I'm a newbie to general content creation.
The video is brilliant thanks. There are plenty useful tips, only one thing.. Why would you need the calendar app when you clearly can see the date, even what day it is next to the time in the right top corner 11:28 I mean i get it.. it is a “flashy” app but there is absolutely no need for it 😅
Simple, when I click the app I see a month view. I have hdden the default calndar to leave more space for other things. Also, when I click on the default calendar it opens my notifications which is of no use to me.
Great video as always! Out of curiosity did you get the fully spec'ed Mac Mini with the M4 Pro or did you keep the cost low with the base option? Also, would you recommend the value-for-money base or the M4 Pro Mac Mini for video editing? Thank you for all the amazing content!
Very nice and informative video again! I just ordered a Mac Mini M4 which I will use on my 2 external monitors connected to a Dell docking station together with my Dell work laptop. Can you suggest easy way to switch up and down from my Mac to my work computer?
I got my M4 Mini Pro on Friday, I have pressed the ON button about three times when plugging in cables, my 43” monitor runs at 144 Hz, if you want to run UFO Test, use the Chrome browser, the Safari browser won’t go above 60 Hz. It runs WoW without problems but it runs warm and I don’t hear the fan, I might try and run this fan software I read about.
A power consumption analysis I saw recently shows that the MacMini M4 consumes zero power when idle, which may explain the position of the power button. In reality, you should just turn it on once and forget about it.
One very useful thing I didn't see mentioned that I am curious about: TouchID. The mini supports it, but I guess the only way is with one of Apple's keyboards, correct?
Great video. But would definitely disagree for 60Hz display I also bough m4 mac mini and connected to 60Hz and 120Hz display, its day and night difference.
loving your tips, I noticed your samsung z fold during the video, wondering if u have any tips on keeping your z fold connected / synced to the apple ecosystem, had been a long time apple fan, but must say the z fold form factor have totally won me over vs. the iphone....
I’ve been thinking about a Mac Mini as well for a long time, but I find that I use my iPad for my very casual photography and videography usage. Whenever I upgrade my 10 year old Ultrasharp monitor, I may get one to replace my Windows machine finally.
It all depends on your budget Alex. If you think about it, this is a device that costs less than a smartphone so perhaps you shouldn't feel too bad replacing it.
Ok, I got all these accessories, but my bank account is empty for the Mac Mini!! :D J/k. Monitorcontrol looks nice, looking forward to trying it out with for compatibility with my Samsung display at work.. Edit: Also, the other app recommendations. I'm not too experienced as a Mac user (2020?), and my units have been lacking in regards of these powertools for simplifying and improving the user experience! Thanks!
In regards to the 60hz thing, I'm open minded about it (or I try to be) but when every single device I have is at least 120hz, when I go back to the one 60hz device I have, it feels like I've gone back in time 15 years. I know you're a pro user on every other device so I'm surprised you don't have this issue too. It's honestly the only thing keeping me from buying an ipad mini (even though I have an M2 12.9"). It really doesn't feel weird to you after using your phone or ipad or MacBook pro?
0,1 second lag while scrolling doesn't make any kind of difference to many people, myself included. I even have 90/120hz turned off for all my devices so I can save battery life. 60hz is more than good enough, but to each their own :)
@@danpm1990 You know, it didn’t make a big difference to me either until I used a high refresh rate device for a while and then swapped back. At that point, it felt really laggy to me, almost in the way that old processors running newer software feels. But I mean hey, if you’re not experiencing that, by all means enjoy it! It keeps you open to less expensive devices and hardware too. I wish I could not feel it so acutely but it’s kinda like … liking the color orange. I don’t choose to, it just is that way. Thanks for sharing ✌
I use a 240hz OLED monitor as my main display, but I have a 60hz monitor (LG Dualup) beside it for coding. It's not as jarring as you might think - if your 60hz monitor has a decent response time. I do admit that the 60hz on the iPad mini or even my Air2 is much more noticeable compared to my M2 Pro iPad. My laptop is also a 60hz OLED and I would say it's somewhere in between the two examples above, so still noticeable.
True but it's rare that a product is released that blows away all the competition like the M4 does. At least the base model Mini. It's very un-Apple to be this cheap.
Do the insta360 cams face tracking have the ability to move the head up or does it keep the head in the center of the screen, which is not good. I hate when people have a huge dead space over their head because the camera is pointed too high
No need to dramatize something super simple dude. I have hidden the default calendar to leave more space for other things. In addition, when I click on the default calendar it opens my notifications which is of no use to me.
Thank you for autoraise!!! I've been using a different app and it works but has its downsides and is in beta! Will try it out because MacOS sucks at multi-window productivity without a feature like that.
As a video camera guy you're probably kicking yourself for having said the web cameras have a one and a half inch sensor. Text overlay correctly says half inch sensor.
at just after the 6 minute mark you mention a "dongle" that fits under the mac mini. I didn't see it listed in the available product links. Could you let me know where I can pick up something like that?

Great to hear!
That Autoraise app... You have no idea, how much I love you right now! :D
Hahahaha. Thank you!
i cant find it on APPS , PLEASE HELP where can i get one
Been using it for 2 years since I started using Mac Os, it's literally dumb that we need a 3rd party app for such a thing.
This video gave me literally more value than anything else mac related in the past month. Excelent work!
I am super happy to hear that!

My Mac mini M4 is hooked up to some Bose Speakers and am using a retro Apple Studio Monitor from back in the G4 days. 27 inches.
