I do the 60/40 Distilled Vinegar and water. Nylon or Bronze brissel brush for scrubbing. And then after drying. Add primer, then Black Rustoleom paint. And white marker for the Numbers and letters. I've restored weights and Barbells that I found. I donated some. And kept some. And sold some to buy new gym equipment.
How have these held up? Are you noticing any chipping on the interior part of the plates (specifically the portion of the plate that doesn't stick out as far)? I'm considering something similar, and I wonder how well it'll last if I mask off the parts of the plate that aren't regularly making contact with other things. I could still see them getting chipped if smaller plates are directly adjacent to them, but it *seems* like it might work.
His parting comments gave me an idea that I just have to share. If you are a stickler for the weight of your plates consider adding micro plates to get your weight where it should be. It is what I plan to do. I know this isn't the best idea anyone has ever had AND you can only know of you are short if you weigh every single plate but I am trying, I am trying to help my fellow man(or woman). Cheers.🙃
@@callmejay8565yeah unfortunately they can get away with it, since they could claim they're the exact weight at time of sale. But over time, due to the metal, it will change. You can get properly calibrated plates, but they got a heck of a lot. The variance usually isn't a lot. But psychologically, it's off putting
Heck yeah. You can really do any color combination with this method. I’d probably do red and blue as the base color, drizzle the dish soap and do white as the top layer. It would look bad ass
Love how these look! Bright plates > any other types. Off topic, but any ideas on how to repaint things that deal with a lot of friction like plate loaded lat pulldown weight pegs? Mine are looking pretty rough atm and I’m not sure what type of paint to use.
Wild you just posted this. I am literally in the process of doing my plates based on your short but just leaving it as black and white instead of a color gradient to go with my black and white REP PR 5000. Didn't think of adding a cerakote finish. Thanks for the great idea!
Defo gonna be doing this to mine this summer. I'll be coming back to this video prior to spraying lol. My weights would look immense. Keep up the great content 👍
They look great!!!🎉
Thanks so much!
The Ultimate Warrior was Awesome.

I did not take into account that sometimes the weights are heavier and not lighter than what they say they are. Hmm.

Those weights came out great. Can you do a red white and blue theme?

@@KaizenDIYGym that would be awesome with manorial day coming up and 4th of July around the corner.

I agree 100%
If you get calibrated plates, I guess you can't give them a kick@ss paint-job, because it would add weight. Great job on these
Did it work? We need an update!
Yes, it worked! I made an update video (short) a few months ago.
🦾danke für das Video
Always bro! Thank you!

ok THANK YOU for making an actual vid so i can save this. and THANK YOU for linking it in the short!
Heck yeah! Glad you appreciate it!
Sick ass shit! What about bumper plates?
You’d need paint specifically made to adhere to rubber. I’ll do some research and make a follow up video
Ooo...Pretty 🤩
For sale
Go for it!
Do you sell your product i mean?
Love the Ultimate Warrior. Would this work with rubber plates too?
You’d need paint specifically made for rubber surfaces. Other than that all the steps are the same.
🤟
Looks sharp!
Thanks dude! A great combination with your dance club pants
