REQUEST: If you haven't already, please cover the history of Japanese tea consumption, tea rooms, different types of tea room, making matcha, making other teas and growing and processing tea. You are so adorably cute. How far back does tea drinking go in Japan and was it ever exclusively for the upper class or royalty?

I am fascinated by this idea of an annual clean out. As an American with way too much stuff, I am trying to purge and it’s so hard. I wish I had been raised to do this.

Thanks a lot for all these insights Aki-san! Very disappointing to see less people wearing Kimono these days too. It’s great to see you stick to your roots. In the book, ‘Think Like a Monk’, it’s mentioned that, the roots are responsible for the tree to withstand any sort of breeze or climate change. Hence, if we stick to our roots and grow our knowledge, we’ll have that maturity and be wise to handle any storm in our lives. :D I wish you a very Happy New Year! 🇮🇳🇦🇪
    Regarding video ideas:
    1. Can you please do a detailed video on myths that Japanese still believe in?

    3. How to cook sticky rice and how to eat with chopsticks the easy way 😅

ETA: Thank you for mentioning that a lot of Japanese houses are not at all minimalist. I am a foreigner living in Japan, and sometimes people back home have weird stereotypes about Japan. I have to tell them that no, not every home looks like a shrine and not every Japanese person is like Kondo Marie-san! At least, not anymore. But maybe slowly, it will change back to something more minimalist like in old times.

I found it very interesting to hear you teach about how kimonos are made from one long roll of cloth and can be turned back into one roll of cloth. I was also very surprised to see from another channel that kimono are sewn in a way that is different from Western style clothing, a stitch that is meant to be taken apart. And that when silk kimono go to a cleaner, they are taken apart and put back on the roll and returned that way!

Hello Aki, I cannot possibly be a minimalist when it comes to your videos, I'm hooked! Those little children are so adorable, and I have never seen such delicious and exquisitly presented foods you had for New Year. I would like to know more about your family, if you would be comforable sharing.
In England, where I grew up, we had an avenue of cherry blossom trees a gift from the Japanese Sister City of our town. I have not been back for many years, but always remember how very beautifiul they were every year. I would like it, if you could please share some of the Japanese gardens in your village? I agree with you, about kimonos, and wish more people would wear them. As I watch your videos, I am surrounded by clutter, I hope you will be a good influence on me, especially when it comes to cleaning. LOL I am interested in everything about your country, your traditions are fascinating. I would also like to ask if you would please show us how to do the tea ceremony? In England my family used o drink tea, and there was also a right and a wrong way of making it, but not as detailed as the Japanese tea ceremony.

REQUEST: I have a topic request! From your other videos it seems you used to manage a property and had to make renovations or repairs. Can you do a video talking about balancing having things needed for self-sustainability (like having tools for making your own building repairs, bike repairs, sharpening your knife, sewing kit) and being a minimalist? Do you just rent or borrow tools as needed? Do you have a set of tools that you always keep? Thanks!

    Thank you for your videos!
I was particularly intrigued about the "toilet girl" and its connection to your culture's penchant for cleanliness.
It's these little stories behind ancient wisdom (e.g. Japanese cleanliness) that I find so interesting and captivating not only regarding your culture but other countries' culture.
It actually reminds me of that scene in Village of the Watermills from Akiro Kurosawa's Dreams where villagers put flowers on a stone by the bridge with most not knowing why.
By the way said episode from Dreams remains my all-time favorite short film and, for me, manages to portray the fundamental principle behind on being a minimalist.
It actually surprises me profoundly how said episode actually applies urgently more today than 30 years ago.
Sorry if I digress but in the end I would just like to request that you continue to add more in your future videos of such little myths or stories behind your culture's good values, traits, and practices.

Hi, Aki! I'm so interested in your lifestyle. It makes me start changing things in my live as well. Yesterday I began throwing a way stuff (or bring it to the thrift shop) what I didn't need anymore, love of feel a connection to it any longer/anymore. It gives me energy, balance and happiness! Hope you could tell, show and learn me more about your ways of thinking, doing and living. It's been a while that someone has been an inspiration for me. So good job that you managed to do that. I just found you yesterday on RUclips and it feels like I understand your ways already. It's very transparent, honest and kind how you speak to your audience.
I got one question for you: Could you show/tell me more about your journey and connection with the essential oils + the Arome dish? I'm from Holland, and I'm very interested in this subject. I'm still a newbie when it comes to essential oils. The only thing what I really enjoying and know the benefits of is the incense sticks. Could you compare different methods with each other so I can understand the difference.
And do you have any recommendations where I should buy this essentials oils? Thanks and keep up the good work!
    Greetings,
    Joost

Hi Aki-San thank you for your videos. They give a glimpse in a different culture and way of living we might not experience when traveling to Japan without inside connections. Could you do a video of food shopping and how you prepare it?

Hi Aki! This was another great video, thank you! I really enjoyed learning about Japanese customs and seeing how your culture celebrates the New Year. I also loved learning about the in-house altar and kimonos. I would love to learn more about tea ceremony and how a minimalist could approach it (and learn it). Also, how does your culture approach consumption and what is your approach to consuming but not inviting clutter and unnecessary items?
