As someone that has played magic for years, I do enjoy a good old tweak on the lists I play. It may not be the better version of it but can get our opponent out of guard and win a match here and there that it wasn’t supposed to win. The googled list is just a north, we can adapt as much as we like. At the end of the day, the deck is meant to make us happy, not others either online or offline

As a new pokemon TCG player I really appreciate this. I’m still figuring out my decks and sometimes I get stuck on making things perfect

Thats my arbok deck from reddit XDXD I have gottten better at deck building since. It only took watching one person with a good deck playing 1 game to realize how good it is to have a bunch of trainer cards in your hand. Starting to see how low on energies/pokemon you can get away with your deck really was an improvement and I had fun with that process, even though I still needed a little help from the internet x)

100% I think people are too quick to dismiss an idea and even take the time to try and get something different to work because it deviates from their ideal perception of what just won. It blinds you to something's potential and stops you generally having fun with it. It's so exciting when you build a deck and you get a win.

Thanks for this! Been getting into the game after dropping Yugioh and this helped put some things into perspective

Crafting new and innovative decks sounds awesome but challenging due to the sheer amount of cards available to use. Maybe you could do some videos on specific cards that synergize well together? Maybe show us the process of building a custom deck, perhaps? Loved the video, take care man!

I couldn't agree with you more when you said it's not about finding the perfect 60 and it's ok to innovate and be weird. As a casual player who has the opportunity to uses this game to otherwise find some common ground with my kids, I'm always trying to reinforce to them, it's ok to be different and make something your own. It doesn't have to be perfect and there isn't a one size fits all type of deck. Thank you for today's content!

I use that exact decklist for Chien-Pao and I have been having a lot of success with it so far, but honestly I do think that whilst it's a good deck, it might not be the best version of the deck for me, specifically. I had been thinking that I might try to vary it up a little bit, explore and find some cards that I might mesh with better than some of the ones that're supposed to be staples. An interesting video for me to see today, then! Definitely has inspired me to think about the deckbuilding process and how I might interact with it a little more actively.

Also I took the arc armarouge deck that made 2nd at a reach for the stars tournament, and tweaked it a bit. Added mew and Ursaluna and had some really cool thornton plays. I even got to use lost impact with Mew lol

I just started playing a month or so ago and I started off with a Deoxys V Max/Star deck at first. I won some and lost some, then moved on to something better. You learn with experience.

I love this video. And you know I can attest to being a new player of doing innovating things with your deck. I have been playing Lugia VStar and I have been playing with V Guard Energy, but have noticed that their isn't many V pokemon in the meta other than Lugia that do attacking or at least those that I have played against on Pokemon Live or at locals.

as a Chien-Pao player, i LOVE the idea of changing up the deck, it feels very smooth to play currently, but i wonder if it would be better if you really just remade it from scratch.

The Pokemon trading card game community is more considerate. You could literally take a worlds winning decklist, change 1 card and ask yugioh players for advice on your deck and they would call your deck trash or your ratios bad.
I'm so glad that this community isn't like this.

I too play Chien-Pao on live and super cheap IRL list I'm thinking on making more competitive and love to test new variants of it such as Greninja ex. It's also that copying tournament lists feels not original and are also most of the time totally out of my budget.

A good example of "the perfect deck doesn't exist" is Dragapult ex. Pult-Zard does really well, Pult-Pidgey does really good, Lost-Pult does really good. There's isn't a "set" deck list for Pult but every list for Pult does well in its own way

It's hard to innovate, especially on TCG Live as your resources are so limited, that you don't want to spend your resources to buy cards and create a deck that end up not working...so it's better to use your resources on something that you know will work.

Hmmm seems like the same old deck, have run into some Kyogre combos though, I like being original and make my own decks and have good success. I’m tired of facing players with copy and paste decks
