In today's video we look into and raise awareness for the Vince Vintage situation. Vince Vintage uploaded his video as creative commons allowing others to freely repost, reuse or share his video. Vince Vintage has also given me explicit permission to create this video and share his story. I spent 18 hours today editing this video, now I am exhausted. Anyway, enjoy the video!

ngl, it is genuinely nuts that RUclips accepts copyright strikes without requiring a real name or proof of ID. I don't know if it would've prevented this - as Vince says, his stalker seems not to have much to lose by exposing himself - but in general it's just nuts that they don't require the same amount of information from someone making a claim and someone fighting it. Even if the law doesn't demand it, they should.
That's what angers me so much. Why do creators have to hand over their personal information to anyone who asks, even people who don't exist, yet THEY never have to provide proof of anything?

when i joined youtube in 2005/2006 i had a video with 6,000 views which was a lot back then, and i couldn't monetize it, even though it was my own music video i wrote and directed, because i had to have a bunch of legal documents. but anyone can claim copyright on it and have it taken down, with absolutely no proof.
Hiring people cost company and RUclips is changing profits. If it doesn't impact their bottom lines, they don't care. Where else are you going to turn to for videos? Vimeo?

In his community tab, Vince posted that his RUclips channel won't get terminated anymore, but his personal info is still out their so I'm really happy this is still getting covered.
He made it pretty clear in that video he was ready to start playing hardball. Got a lawyer and a private investigator to start looking into that loser. Still pretty scary to have a man with apparently nothing to live for start messing with your livelihood.

@@chriitt California, where Google is headquartered, has a law where waivers of liability (like accepting RUclips's terms and conditions) may not prevent people from suing as a result of gross negligence. RUclips is REQUIRED to protect their user data. RUclips was completely negligent by allowing a convicted hacker to exort users into giving data by abusing THEIR copyright takedown system without any verification needed. RUclips is not protecting their users by making these fake copyright takedowns appear as legitimate. It also paints the holder as someone who you can send your legal personal info to without the worry that the info would be abused (like swatting, doxxing, ddossing, anything else a CONVICTED HACKER wants to do with it).
This is a little extra note, but RUclips needs to have a system where the copyright holder needs to prove their copyright and go through a background check before they are allowed to issue a takedown or claim. A US court case ruled that copyright holders are required to consider fair use before issuing a DMCA.

I honestly wonder if a class action can be filed against RUclips and their copyright system, because it's extremely one sided and OBVIOUSLY can put people in danger. There's enough people that this has happened to, I'm sure a good attorney would be able to do this probono

What state does the hacker reside if you can find them county then narrow down the list of probation offices call them individually and report the cyber of sinet (idc how I spelled nor do I want to) with multiple reports and a link sent to their email can get him court marshaled or a sheriff to arrest him for use of the internet cyber attack and harassment

The megalomaniacs realized the path to total power was to buy up all "up & coming" competitors. Since Big Business & Big Govt merged, if the small competitors refuse to sell out, politicians will use the power of govt to destroy them.

This is one of my reasons that I’m not fully on board with hackers actions. There’s always one guy with an ego/power trip who does something reckless or stupid. Not all hackers are bad people some solve issues ,but at one point or another some cross a line I would never be ok with.

I had my one of my RUclips accounts (that is also tied to my Google account) logged out without reason or warning. I can only speculate i got hijacked and even trying to recover an account is a special kind of hell to go through

This reminds me so much of the case of Leandra Ramm. An opera singer who was virtually stalked by a man from Singapore for a number of years. He would threaten her send things to her house then would ruin her chances at auditions and her relationships. Law enforcement wasn't able to help her and it had to take a data specialist who was in contact with singapore's government to help her.

Why was the hacker still allowed access to electronic equipment? Usually after cases like that they are banned from using any.
They can't enforce those types of requirements as it violates things like laws and rights in the constitution.

Exact same thing happened to me last year, someone got my full name and address from YT copyright system and started posting it online. I'm a broke nobody, I can't afford an attorney or anything remotely like that. YT _will not_ respond to anything unless you fill out their forms. It's completely rigged in the favour of harassers, who can file with a fake name and address and face zero consequences for doing it. 20 days of harassment and copyright strikes before YT reinstated my channel and I guess the guy just got bored. I stopped sleeping, police could do nothing because they can't get YT to cooperate on anything. Contacted YT in every method I could find and all I was ever told was, fill out the forms.

It’s not a big deal but something I should add: Vince has gained over 100k subs since this whole saga started. He was at around 400k before and has 495k at the time I’m typing this. The community has massively rallied around him and it looks like if he makes it through this whole thing he will have gone from an amazing niche mid-sized channel to a far bigger one.
The audience he has gained from this will stick around and chances are Vince will be able to beat this guy and emerge greater on the other side. As terrible as the situation is there is at least that silver lining on the horizon. Vince definitely deserves it too been watching him for over a year.
Seems like if anything he’s just boosting the Vince dudes career by giving the rest of us a reason to support him, while ruining his own and embarrassing himself at the same time💀

They do that all the time. They fix someone's channel but not the system. There should be an option to have the lawyer represent the RUclips Channel, that way privacy is protected.
I don't understand why RUclips allows someone to file a copyright claim without providing their full legal information. Also, what's the downside to them banning email domains KNOWN to be favored by hackers/criminals? Absurd.

It's part of their Safe Harbour provision; they can't admit they know what's going on with the platform (unless it blows up to mainstream media), or they'll be in violation of it. There's also a _ton_ of corporations that are salivating and waiting to tear RUclips apart once they're unable to be protected by those provisions. To RUclips, the best way to go about it is to just leave disputes between users (and abusers, unfortunately).

To think that something as small as this caused this much maline makes me wonder if this could happen to someone else and get stalked to the point that someone gets hurt or even killed. I remember watching his video right when it came out. I was noticing all of his big videos getting taken down & wondering why, when I found out it was because of an old ass man-baby, man, I was annoyed for him.
People with fragile egos are already bad enough, but this one not only has a fragile ego, he has all of the time in the world and a criminal record. I don't know if anything less than tossing him in an isolated jail cell can stop him from going potentially murdercrazy.
