Leroy King was a tenor and could match any female cover singer..
I was 12 in 1958 and for my teenage years this was THE song for every party I went to in Philadelphia. If I had a dollar for every time I heard it, I would be a millionaire. It just never gets old! And I love this version!
Love this song and Kathy Cornelius has a wonderful voice. She still lives in Cinti and sings for family & friends. Love you Kathy....your Sis

This is just my opinion but I think that we will never ever see talent of this caliber never ever again. This is a beautiful thing man! The pitch, the harmony and that bass WOW!!! Thank God for the recordings. Today's artists are just as good 🙄 NOT!!!
What a sad world we live in today. Worse yet is that today's modern singers think's that they are that good. Friends if you had a rough tough day, I have a remedy for you. When you get home fix yourself your favorite beverage put on some oldies or old school music, sit back in your favorite chair, relax your mind and enjoy the journey back to those yesteryear when music was music. How I miss those days. Suddenly I feel depressed. I'm going to need a double and a beer chaser, maybe more.
The original singer Leroy King’s vocals would make you weep! He was 15 when The Students recorded it in 1958

THE GUY IN THE PINK SUIT IS ORIGINAL MEMBER RICHIE JOHNSON THE GROUP USUALLY GO UNDER THE NAME OF RICHIE JOHNSON AND THE STUDENTS THE FEMALE SINGER IS CATHY CORNELIUS.

Of course Kathy Cornelius isn't "Leroy King", but Leroy has been dead for so many years that it's indeed, very hard to find someone, man or woman, who could capture the essence of the lead vocals on this superb standard oldie ... and Kathy Cornelius has done just that! Per the Students... the lady's name was Kathy Cornelious (sp.). She had to leave the group for personal reasons. What a tragedy, what a voice!

A lot of the women who were with these male groups were not allow to travel with the group because they were to young (per their parents). No traveling with these young men.

Well...please give it a listen before condemning it. Brian Wilson singing falsetto with the other guys doing harmony is, in my opinion, very good. Maybe others here have heard their version, and would like to comment.
