Very insightful, thank you! :) Can you also make a video about the application process for the Japanese art universities? Did you have to do the entrance exams in Japanese?
I was lucky with my entrance exam because of the department I am in. I didn't have to do a written Japanese exam. But some of my friends had to do the whole thing in Japanese.
@@ezeifedihumphrey6025 you should go to MEXT scholarship official website so that you can get all the application forms and other documents if needed. Hurry up the application will be closed on 27 may 2024
I just wanna say thanks a lot for your content, you just earned a new sub! I'm currently an undergrad student of english literature in Indonesia but I 've been doing freelancing in illustration and comic for quite long time. However my japanese is soo bad (probably N6-ish or lower lol) so I can relate a lot to you. I'm planning to study Japanese for a year or so, so I can take MEXT by 2024 - 2025. If I may ask, do you have any advises how to create research proposal that is convincing? And how high your JLPT level when you take your first MEXT?
thank you so much for the video! I really want to come to Japan and learn illustration or animation. The only thing that really worries me is that there is an age limitation and I'm studying English literature in university, so I'll be graduated when I am 22 and I think I only have one year to do that all you said. I don't know what to do 😭😭😭

Hi Anshin awesome video. Can you do a video of what it is like to study art in Japan, specifically learning in Japanese? Also you can update us of a day in the life of an international art student in Japan. Thank you
Thanks for sharing! It is hard to find MEXT applicants in Art/Design so there is no enough info about it. I wanna ask, did you find a supervisor/professor first before you apply? Thank you!
this was very insightful :) I was wondering if you can possibly make a video about the application process for art universities such as Tokyo University of the Arts :) Also, I was wondering if video games would be eligible for the art spot for the MEXT Scholarship '-'
This is so cool! I’ve been trying to look up people going to Geidai or other japanese art universities with the MEXT research students! I plan to finish my current degree and go with that scholarship! Do you know how the choosing field of study works? I’m confused about it tbh. I wanna study nihonga, but I’m not sure if that’s a valid field of study. Like, u gotta choose the field and your research theme right? I’m just overall confused about that. I also don’t quite understand what being a research student means? Is it like, studying for a masters degree? What does it really entail to be a research student?? I just know I wanna study/research nihonga.
I wonder which pathway you took? Like I'm thinking of going special training for Art but they said I have to do math English and Japanese. Could you explain which undergraduates path you went? And can you help give advice, I wanted to do digital art but I don't which to pick.
loved your video.. i wanna study film from japan will i able to get mext scholarship cause i have no specific degree or certificate of filmmaking but i have made some shortfilms.

Thanks sooo much 🌸I've always wanted to ask you about mext Scholarship....can you talk more about research proposal for painting?? Example or anything🙏
Hello:) thank you so much for sharing your experience with us 🙏🏻 I have a question cause I can’t stop thinking about this scholarship and I’m about to do my papers for a Japanese language school in Kyoto for the new year .. I’ve studied History and Ethnology in university but I started to think about art history and art in general for my master degree.. so you believe I’ve got any chance to be accepted in an art university when my studies are about history and ethnology ? I’ve got plenty of art history lesson in Uni.. what was your studies before applying for this scholarship?
Hey!! Thank you for the information. In my country, the average person goes to university at the age of 20. But I want to go to an art university at 18. By now I have passed the GCE Ordinary Level Examination well and am studying for the Advanced Level Examination. I would love to study art in Japan. Can I apply in this situation? Or what can I do in a situation like this? Admit to an art university. Great thing if you can help me.
Hello, Efrat! I’ve been following you on IG for a while now, since I’ve learned about MEXT through your video. Thank you for that! May I ask if applying scholarship as a research student through MEXT have an age limit? I’m currently 25, and planning to apply next year, (I’ll be 26 by then) and I have also graduated my undergrad last 2018, and have been working as a designer for the past 5 years. Am I still eligible? I would really appreciate your answer!
Hello, I want to enter an undergraduate program in geidai but I saw some universities said that the level of Japanese must be N2 or above, So I am worried if the MEXT would accept me with a lower level, what was more or less your level of Japanese when you applied for the scholarship? Thank you.
If you secure the mext scholarship, they’ll send you to Japan and put you through an intensive Japanese language course in which you’ll have to fit the N2 criteria. If you don’t secure the language criteria, the scholarship gets eliminated. But if you do pass the language, you’ll have to enter the entrance exam of the university you desire. But if you don’t get accepted in the university then the scholarship will be eliminated.
Hello! I loved the video! I have question though, when you were applying for the art universities do you have to reach out to the professors in the university or did you have reach out to the university itself? Im very curious because I want to apply in Geidai and I’m really inspired by you! :))
What I worry about is the Japanese aspect. I'm worried it might not be up to standard and I don't understand it too much. I'm worried during class time writing and speaking might be difficult.

Really helpful advice. How long did you have to wait in between and did you have to give an art portfolio to the universities?
A few months of waiting between each step. And yes you need to submit a portfolio for each university you apply
