Well done very informative. I have fitted micro switch stops at either end . Both Switches are NC in series with motor , added 1N4007 diode across micro switches allowing reverse voltage to pass when switch opens for ram to go the other way . Micro switches mounted inline with slide allowing for momentum when stop reached using +10 . Will be fitting remote too. Thanks for Video

Thank you for making this video. been thinking about doing this for a while. I installed mine on mine today. Only thing different that I did was run my wires outside and back in the back, and I used the 1 degree and the 10 degree, not the standby and auto. Figured I'd be at the tiller anyway to put on the tiller.

I've since changed to this too as well as you mention you are next to tiller when you switch it off

Thought I would have a crack at this on my ST2000.....for my purposes this mod would have been ideal meaning that I didn't have to keep turning round whilst still on watch.
Unfortunately the manufacturers have changed the switches on my one, they now have clear plastic shrouds covering a triangular metal contact.
Even if you can prise these from the board the joints appear to be machine made and even by following them through it is not apparent where to connect the wires to. They are far to tiny now for a man in his shed to easily tap into.
I gave up, reassembled the switches and luckily they still worked fine.

I think the ST2000 is built differently altogether. Different power mechanism too.

if you find a solution for the st2000, i'm interested :)

@@mathieud3098I don't know if you found a solution but I know the ST1000 has a wired remote button available.
Which signals via the cockpit bulkhead socket providing power too.
I can't see why you could not use the spare conductors in the plug in power cable which also has data connection conductors?
In fact I would suggest this a better option because you don't need to open the unit up.

Thanks for posting. Very interesting. Can I wire up to the 1degree buttons? 10degrees is usually too much for me.

Yep, you can do which ones you like. The switches are all the same. Just wire to the different switches. I looked at th 6ch version to do all switches but don't think the pcb would fit in the housing unfortunately. 4 works well though.

How much range did you get out of the remote ?

Awesome. I have spent days researching all the more techy solutions to this problem - sending Seatalk messages etc. I am going with your solution. Nice and simple and cheap. Many thanks.
