I’m glad she’s taking their asses to court. She is PHENOMENAL. I’m glad I grew up knowing her name, and listening to her fabulous voice. I love you Sista Nancy, I pray you get your coins, you are a revolutionary QUEEN.
This culture is so deep... the vibe she emits... man it's deep.... we know you own bam bam... money isn't everything... we all love you sista Nancy... jah will reward you... all the way from east Africa Tanzania
She owns (her rendition) of Bam Bam, but I noticed she didn't mention about the ORIGINAL, performed about 20 years earlier by Toot and the Maytals. I was hoping to hear her talk about it on this video... I wonder what her recollection of that is, and how it may have inspired her interpretation of the song. Modern music usually goes much deeper in history than we are aware of, and it's important for artists to give credit where credit is due. ruclips.net/video/1kCleThl4yU/видео.html
My mom used to play Sister Nancy (amongst other artist) at our humble house in Puerto Rico when it came out (early 80's) and till today is one of my favorite songs, and my mom and I dance it when it comes out💃🇵🇷.
I'm from Trinidad and not once have I ever heard a radio D.J mention her name after playing her hit song, "bam bam" for over three decades! Many people don't know her by name but they surely know her song. I always loved listening to her song since childhood.❤
I'm a latecomer to Sister Nancy and I am in love, I feel this vibe so much! She is indeed a queen! Thanks to Ozarks for playing Bam Bam in Season 4, Episode 1.
This song is played heavily still to this day at parties , movies hell even Instagram models that can’t even “whine”. It made all my friends want to go to Jamaica with our last dime. I never knew who sung this song . She’s a legend in my opinion. She earns everything. I hope she wins lawsuit
Not me just putting a face to this song on 2/15/2022 at 11:49 p.m. 🤨 I first heard this song on the movie Belly. Then heard it again on the Netflix series “Maid” on Season 1 episode 3. My daughter’s watching it now but I’ve already seen it. So when I heard it playing I was like let me put this on my playlist before I forget again. Never knew which artist sang this. 🤦🏽♀️ my bass is going to be like BAM BAM 💥 tomorrow blasting this 🔈 🔊 🗣💪🏽👏🏽🥰
Really bummed she didn’t receive her royalties and recognition from her music at the time. Yes! Take their ass to court girl! We still bumping we still jammin to you!
I was popular in Trinidad in the late 1980 from my recollection…. Maybe it was around before but it was poping. Now I live in the US and paying it so much over the years my kid is humming and sing to it… still amazing vocal and beats…..magic of real music is being accepted generationally.
@@Iknowyoumadnow first of all nobody is dumb around here but you with this unecessarily rude comment. Now, imagine how much more Toots would have made as well if she got paid too? Now go be rude elsewhere.
I LOVE THIS SONG SO MUCH BY SISTER NANCY IT HAS BEEN MY RINGTONE FOR THE LAST 10. YEARS WAY BEFORE ANYBODY EVEN CAUGHT WIND OF IT I HAD THIS ON MY RINGTONE FOR OVER 10. YEARS NOW NOW I HEAR EVERYBODY PLAYING AND MAKING REMIX OF IT BUT I AM THE ORIGINAL DUNDADA BAM BAM. PERIOD.
Got introduced to this album in Toronto, high school 1992. This was the stand out track off a mega record. Been playing it ever since. Nancy is an icon! Love from Canada.
Belly definitely amplified her song but any dancehall lovers been heard and loved that song! Can’t even believe they never played it in Jamaica. That’s unbelievable! Glad she’s getting her just do!! 👑💗
As an African I enjoy reggae beat when its live or playing loud at a joyful event. That rythm is magical and you can tell the true nature or character of the artist singing or leading the band. Thanks a lot to Jamaica for the great Dance Hall saga!!
This is me and my 4yr old lil girl favorite song. She be like dad ply bam bam. And she knows some of the lyrics. It’s crazy how legendary this song is.
I knew the song but I didn't know her, or her name. There's a viral video going around now and I had to check her out. I love reggae music. I'm happy she's finally getting some recognition for her talents 💛
My introduction was from the sample Main Source did "Just Hangin Out" 1991 the album "Breaking Atoms"...😁 ..still one of my all time favorite hip hop joints..😊😊😊😍
1982 and she didn’t fully get compensated until Reebok came out with the commercial in 2014!! 16 years after Belly. Enjoy your money Sister Nancy. The music (entertainment) industry can be so unscrupulous. This has happened to too many.
Respectfully i dunno which parties she was going to in Jamaica but it was one of the biggest songs in Jamaica. My uncle ran a sound system in the 80s and 90s and it was played multiple times at most parties.

Greetings. Wow, Sister Nancy was well before my time but her hit What A Bam Bam is timeless. When I heard Bam Bam on an Airbnb ad recently I got so excited - Big congrats!!! And wouldn't you agree that most of the new so called Reggae that is being released today is just noise/garbage......truth be told, it's not Reggae! They think they can use social media to fool the people but we know quality and authentic Reggae when we hear it. The current set of Jamaican Reggae/dancehall musicians need to eat humble pie or patty and invest time into mastering their musical craft then the rewards will follow. Substance over hype always. Respect and congrats to Sister Nancy 👍
I'm Very Glad that the new music label that buy the rights of your songs was a lil Fear with you and thanks to that you stop working and NOW YOU DEDICATING YOURSELF ON WHAT YOU LOVE MUSIC... RESPECT AND BLESSINGS MUMMA NANCY 👍🏾

Winston Riley died a number of years now.
But didn't the original "bam bam" line derive from Toot and the Maytal's festival song Bam Bam ?
@@normanmccallum610 I had this same point to make. Almost 20 years earlier the original was performed:
