- We encountered engine failure off the coast of the UK, and had to be towed in by the RNLI. Upon inspecting the diesel tank, it was discovered that there was a large amount of diesel bug that had clogged the fuel intake. This is how I cleaned the tank of this Westerly Discus and treated the diesel bug to prevent further growth over the winter.
Thin steel wire cheese wire/ guitar string ideal for breaking the seal saves risking bending the inspection cover. Ps love the description of the sealer!
Grim! While I don't think I have any issue with the bug, I am certain there is some sediment at the base of my aging fuel tank as felt when I measure the fuel level using my trusty wooded dip stick. Not a job I look forward to, but an important one indeed!
Fantastic video. Any deisel bug would be afraid to go anywhere near your tank now.
But, that accent of yours. Do I detect a little bit on Northern Ireland in there? And a little bit of Canada, maybe?
