I have seen a big rig parked in a lot next to my gym for 4 days in a row. I called 911 last night so that they could do a wellness check. It could be that he's sitting there waiting for another load???
If they didn't mind him parking there, then he was probably working out in the gym, using their shower, and perhaps there were stores and restaurants nearby he could've walked to. Wow. Is freight really that bad?
I want to keep my CDL active as well as keep my foot in the door with Swift. I also like to be able to go out in a truck once in a while. My new job is Dispatch at a security company.
@KILRtv More options more opportunities they say. I was actually thinking of going dispatch myself. More stability than paid by the mile. People don't understand what a scam that is.
@DarrkMane , sadly, you are right. One of the most important jobs in this country, and the people are treated like trash and are taken advantage of. I'm a lot happier, honestly. I've got a good job, I see my wife every day, and I can hop into a truck once in a while to feel that freedom of the road again. It's a good compromise. Even if the money is trash, it's nice to go out every now and then and share the adventure with you folks.
its not a scam if you were paid any other way you would get paid way less or every truck would go out of business. THats like saying being paid hourly is a scam@@DarrkMane
@@donttruckhere I'm saying we should be getting paid hourly plus overtim like every other labor job.. Don't be so hasty to respond not actually knowing the different angles to my statement. You're making a fool out of yourself.
That sounds normal, though. I've been to Jurupa several times and had to wait. One time, I sat for 6 days to get a load going out. I hate going to CA because of that. I wonder how bad it is at other terminals. Jonestown, PA was slow the past couple of times I was there. They deadheaded me to Ohio to get a load that just went back to PA.
@@tallstacker , I do like Jonestown. I had to wait a couple of days to get another load out of there, but I'd rather wait there than in Jarupa. The only thing I like at Jarupa is the game room with the two arcade games.

I have orientation monday.. im supposed to make .55 per mile amd average 2500 miles weekly man i hope thats true u got me scared nah lol.. what was your route?
I was OTR, so I didn't have a route. I think the fleet I'm on is the Table Scraps Fleet, lol. I'm not on any kind of route. It sounds like you got a dedicated route, which might be ok. I had an academy friend who was on dedicated, but over time, he was getting screwed on miles. He had to sit and wait for loads and not get Layover Pay. He wound up quitting and going to Crete, where he's doing better. I think I'm the only one left from my Academy class that is still with Swift, and I'm just there Part time now.
@KILRtv lol yea imma b home every other weekend.. i think its east region r sum shit 😆 im jus here to.get 3 months experience bc i have another job lined up once i get 3 months
The company is really not that bad, but the money is a joke at this point. I even asked them about possibly doing a load this week and gave them options of what I was able to run over a couple of days. Nothing. Didn't hear a word from them. I don't know if it's the people, the lack of freight, or both. I'll keep bugging them on a weekly basis, because I might get fortunate with a decent load that'll pay more than $25.
@fleshplushie , no, we don't. The money is bad, because of the types of loads. It was great when I started, but it got to the point where it was just short loads that had appointments and a lot of wasted time. Once in a while, I got something good or had a great week, but it wasn't consistent.
@@KingFroglet , everyone's experience is different. I think it is a good skill to have. I plan to keep my CDL active. I think it is worth it for some. It all depends on what you want to get out of it. I don't regret the 2 years I was in OTR. It was a good experience.
