    Tornadoes are a truly breathtaking sight in nature.
    While they can be magnificent to watch from a distance, if you are caught in one, it could be a life changing experience.
    This is the case for many residents that live in Tornado prone areas of America.
    Kansas has been known over the years to be frequently hit by tornadoes.
    Sitting right in the middle of Tornado alley, it has seen it's fair share of severe weather.
    Typically tornado season occurs here during April and June, peaking in May.
    When warm moist air from the gulf of mexico heads north, and mixes with the cold dry air heading south from Canada and the Rocky Mountains, the result can be explosive.
    In the peak of the 2022 tornado season, a tornado would form, and become the most recorded tornado in history.
    Friday, April 29th saw a powerful low pressure system approaching Kansas, allowing a sharp dryline to track along interstate 135.
    This wasn't unusual for residents of the area who are used to seeing storms roll in at this time of year.
    As the day went on several storms were observed in central and north eastern Kansas, near a developed warm front.
    But as the early evening hours continued, a couple of storms started firing just east of Wichita.
    One of these storms produced the now famous EF3 Tornado that carved a path through Andover, Kansas.
    This tornado became the most filmed tornado of all time, with many different angles captured.
    While beautiful, this picture perfect tornado was carving a path through the town of Andover with wind speeds up to 155 miles per hour.
    The tornado was on the ground for a total of 21 minutes, and in that time it had tracked almost 13 miles, having a width of approximately 440 yards.
    Fortunately no lives were lost as a result of this tornado, however the damage to buildings and infrastructure was severe.
    The tireless work done by meteorologists, and storm chasers alike, has helped in giving advanced warning to people in the path of dangerous weather.
    Today we are going to take a look at some of the footage captured of this amazing Tornado.
    It is our hope that if people further educate themselves about tornadoes, that it can help keep themselves and their loved ones safe during one of these events.
    Sit back, grab a coffee or a snack, and get ready to watch the most recorded tornado on earth.

    There is something about Andover.... I just watched this channel's Andover F5 (1991) documentary and I was astonished at the amount of citizen-obtained footage that exists for this event, since having a camcorder in 1991 was a luxury. I am grateful for those who captured it and shared it with us all.

    I think the most astounding thing about this Tornado is the fact it went straight through a metropolitan area, yet no one died from it

    People complain about portrait mode and being pretty rude about it, but the aspect ratio is amazing for shots like the clip @14:30 ... Landscape would be nice, but with how common it is to share these moments with family, etc, primarily through mobile it makes sense to default to that. Plus if I've got a tornado right there & not running away I know I wouldn't be focusing on my cinematography.
    So just be thankful there's any footage at all, and like none of it was shot on a potato. We're privileged a f to have this.
    Anyway, thx for the compilation!

      Well the point is for people to always shoot in landscape because its a fuller picture, so you dont have to think about it if its the way you always film. But i get your point

    Yeah, it's all fun and games until it demolishes your house and entire neighborhood. Why doesn't anyone take tornadoes seriously anymore? When the tornado warning says to get into your tornado shelter/basement/other safe part of your house, listen to it! Don't just stand there filming idly! I've lived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania my whole life, so I personally have never experienced a tornado myself, but from all the footage and stories I have seen/heard of tornadoes over the years, I know that they are dangerous, highly destructive forces of nature, and definitely not a joking matter. I have experienced some tornado warnings due to severe thunderstorms and hurricanes, but nothing really happened. However, when these warnings do turn up sometimes, I'm still quick to get into my basement, along with my dog and cat, and wait until it's over.

      It’s a cultural thing. We respect tornados in the Midwest. But also we’re going to watch them and then dive for cover. Hence why my neighbors sent us a photo of a funnel cloud above my family’s house and my brother was out taking videos as a tornado destroyed three houses down. We know where to shelter and how fast it takes to get there. I won’t pretend it’s the safest strategy, but we are still taking it seriously- Midwest style.
      Some of us have also survived tornados, myself included. One passed close enough I could hear it. We’ll take risks but also we are used to this kind of weather and we do know how to handle it.

    First thing; put on your bike helmet and SHOES, then head for shelter. The number one injury reported by doctors and health officials is foot injuries AFTER the disaster has past when people come out of shelter. If you think there's a disaster coming, run for your shoes, not your phone.

    Best part of video is at 33:49 because it’s a stationary camera set in proper mode LANDSCAPE. it’s only when “dumb” people using “smart” phones hold in portrait mode do we get an absolutely missed opportunity for some stunning footage. It’s not rocket science. Hold your phone properly. How do people not get this ???????

    My god I wish people would learn how to record video. Landscape not portrait mode. Simply turn your phone. Some of these vids would be stunning if not filmed incorrectly. It’s like what a horse wearing blinders might see. Shame. Missed opportunity.

  • @theduke8504
    @theduke8504 7 месяцев назад

    At the 24:30 mark you'll see what a video recorded on 'landscape mode' looks like opposed to 'portrait mode' which is used in almost all the other recordings.. Which is better in your opinion? Stop it people!
    As a side note, please explain why most people who live in "tornado alley" don't have some sort of 'storm shelter'! Sure, the chances of your dwelling being hit by a tornado is very slight, but I'm sure that those who were hit, and were injured, or lost loved ones, would think it to be a necessity now.

    • @ChasingTone666
      @ChasingTone666 16 дней назад

      Very simple. Portrait = amateur. Landscape = professional. Better viewing experience. It’s like you are actually there not looking through horse blinders.
