Keep in mind this is for an air handler and not a coil on top of a furnace. The coil on top of the furnace has positive pressure so you do not need a trap. So, this is a positive pressure system in this video, not a negative and therefore has no need for a trap. The AC coil is on top of this furnace, so you can drain directly into the condensate pump without the need of an Ez Trap.
@@HowToWithLech This isn't the one with the electric float switch that will actually shut the system down if it backs up. Why did you go with this "dumb" version if it won't actually shut the system down?
The P trap (I believe) is to prevent a vacuum/airlock situation within the condensate pan of your furnace/AC. Watch attached : ruclips.net/video/vWGLVe-X550/видео.htmlsi=vhwWCGnzEAQsol-o
This has to be the cleanest work I have seen. 👍

Just what I was looking for, thanks! What size is the piece that threads on to the unit- thanks
3/4”
I think 1” or 3/4”. Have to check
@@HowToWithLech Residential is ALWAYS 3/4”
What's the reason for the p trap?
Capture any gunk etc.

@@AustinMichael you are referring to the pump right? it does have that, just needs to be connected to the system. its those extra wires.

@billw5189 great explanation video thank you!
The system is supposed to automatically shut off your air handler in the event of a backup. I didn’t see anything about that in your video.
Only if there is a float switch
My ac unit has another drain pipe at the bottom
For same thing? I guess might be good than
Great
