An unpaid internship can be valid under certain circumstances. One is a work/study program through school (generally vocational). You could also agree if the benefits of the internship are high enough (nobody wants to hire someone with zero experience but you can’t get experience unless you’re hired). There should be a time limited contract leading to full time paid employment. There should be a defined role/expectations with a qualified mentor (no BS coffee runner). Interns should be a very small part of your employees. Internships I have seen were generally summer positions for high school or college students.

When the company was sold to a much larger company and became publicly held, the number of sessions I attended changed dramatically. I started going to four meetings a week. We had meetings on Monday to decide what the meeting on Friday would be about. Presentations were assigned on Monday and due on Friday. There were days when my boss was in wall-to-wall meetings from the time they walked into the door at 8 AM till 5 PM. They would eat lunch from 12 -1 to catch up on emails. They were still going when I left at 5 PM and expected to be there for a couple more hours.

This is the power of hustle culture. It tricked all these people into working for free. Every hustle culture guru I ashamedly listened to at some point told their sheep audience to work for free. Patrick Bet-David and GaryV among them.

another big problem with meetings is how useless they are when A SHORT EMAIL WOULD TAKE CARE OF IT! Ignoring the stupid 7 minute notice part of this situation, it seems like most daily meetings are misplaced bs (like missing the purpose of the action but still doing the action thus nobody benefits).

It's more like being 'kicked out'.. not' fired.' Like a band.. a band that does not make money anyway...

If you work you should get paid the going rate. Period. It's time away from other things that are way more important - but you need to pay your bills and buy food etc! Especially if you are working lower down the greasy pole! So this guy is operating as a bit of a slaver...
