  • I used to live in Massachusetts and I had/have a weird obsession with this island. Why? Is it the simplicity? Is it the lack of commercialization? This was the second time I've been to the island, I hope it's not my last. Time goes so slow here.

"Thank You" for showing a fellow Mass resident a closer look of Cuttyhunk Is. I have only seen it from a boat, while heading to MV .... But You've made it a destination for me this summer of 2024 😎👌👍👍

@esousa486 you're welcome! Like I said, there isn't much to do there. I think during the summer they have more events. I would check the town's website ... or call to find out what they have to offer. The ferry is a bit pricey, but you are paying for an experience to explore. I will say this island does have tick problem. The first time I went, I found a big tick crawling behind my ear.

@maureenhoran2143 If I had the money, I would move here without any hesitation. When I was in the Coast Guard, I worked from Woods Hole, MA and I just had this absurd obsession with Cuttyhunk. Everyone at my unit thought I was weird for wanting to live there. The first time I visited it was a few years ago May 2021, and it was exactly how I imagined it. Time really does slow down there.

Such a peaceful quiet place! Thank you for taking me along. I haven't heard of this island! Questions, are only golf carts allowed? Is there any type of convenient store? Do residents get any type of discount for the ferry? Do residents live full time on the island? Sorry I have so many questions! Never been to anywhere in New England 😿

Hey! Sorry I never responded! There are a few cars on the island, but honestly it's really not necessary. I talked to a few residents the first time, and they said they leave their cars on the mainland and just use a golfcart for the island. There are "bulk" ticket prices that count as a discount...but not sure if they have a "resident" discount. Since this island is EXTREMELY expensive, most people who live here can and do own a recreational boat.
There is ONE convenient store...however there are only 10 year-round residents...the other 390 are summer-only. Since I've only come during the off season (early May and late September) nothing was open.
