Thank you for breaking down the video settings! I’m a photographer trying to get into filming with my a6400 and the amount of settings Sony has was intimidating to figure out lol
Great video. It gave me a lot to study and learn more deeply. Unfortunately, sections 8:50 and 11:20 went much too fast and way over my head. I got completely lost, lol. But I've only had the camera (my first) for several days. A completely new and exciting experience. I'm sure these terms will make more sense in a couple of weeks as I become more acquainted with the camera and what each function means. Thank you for your generosity in teaching this tutorial..
Glad it was somewhat helpful! Once you start to use the camera things will start to make more sense. This is also just a guide on how I set my cameras up to give you an idea on how you'll set yours. Good luck!
Thank you for this video. I just got this camera and I'm glad to see what the full potential of this camera. I like that you truly showed all the details.
Wow. I can see you totally know your stuff. I have to say though, as a COMPLETE beginner with ZERO clue this is WAY over my head 😂 I'd love to see a total beginner video about how to use this camera for making videos and uploading them to IG.
Hi thanks for watching. If you're beginner maybe start with this video here: ruclips.net/video/-f2ejkQepxE/видео.html. I also have one that's abotu understanding the dial on the camera here: ruclips.net/video/-RtinNbVe7Q/видео.html Hope that helps.
I just clicked on this video for some info. I've left after 12:43 minutes with good motivation, subscribed, commented, liked , on continue to see what else you have on your channel. Have a wonderful day sir! You don't know, but I know you are handsome, beautiful and openminded (not gah :D )
This was a lot to take in, not everything I need, but also at the same time was really helpful, two things I had issues with, was the Picture Profiles isn't exactly clear (sony UX issue mostly), and that I got confused on video formats, because my camera was/is in PAL mode.
This video helped me out a lot. I was able to fine tune my settings more accurately to my setup! I mainly use my Sony a6400 through a video capture card for my live streaming Dj sets that I eventually upload to RUclips, Twitch and Mixcloud. Thank you for your insight! You made it very easy to follow step by step on some of the features that I was unaware of. I've been using the kit lens 16-50mm and was thinking of upgrading to the Sigma 16mm lens. Would my videos benefit from this upgrade? Appreciate your work!
Thanks for watching! The Sigma 16mm is a great APSC lens. You'll definitely see a difference from the kit lens. Has a nice sharp image and the 1.4 aperture gives you amazing bokeh. The only limitation is the fixed focal range. So as long as that's not a problem for you then u should be good.
Can you please provide some exercise type of tutorials on A6400, for cinematic shots? It will give us the depth of insights on this wonderful baby A6400 and encourage budding short film makers like me!
YO Leo! This is a super dope video bro! I just purchased my Sony A6400 today! I first rented it from Lens Rentals.. then bought it .. now I need a freaking Lens haha
Thanks a lot! Glad you found it helpful. Your lens choice will depend on what you're shooting. But the Sigma trio or the Sony 18-105 are good starting points when looking.

Hey. Just realized I never responded to this comment sorry. I need to do an updated video about color grading. It’s changed a lot. In the past I’ve used LUTS. Now I grade myself. Tanju Kara 😂..., I have the sigma Lens 16mm. I just started my RUclips channel about 5 weeks ago and needed a camera. Like you, I have watched so many videos on RUclips, trying to decide which would be best for me. I finally decided on the Sony A6400 and I absolutely love it. I shot my first video with it yesterday and I’m working on posting it on my channel Wednesday. I also used the sigma lens. I’m so new at this and I know my camera settings wasn’t correct but I’ll figure it out! 😊.... You can see from a beginners point, if you like. I’ll post it on Wednesday.
Thanks this really help. the only problem is when I set my on movie mode to record my RUclips videos, as soon as I press record the screen gets really dark and I have to change it back to Auto?
This is a great video! I usually demo tennis strokes and right on a board behind me. Don't really want a bokeh. Any tips for settings then? DO I still need aperture priority? Thanks!
Hi thanks for watching. If you don't want the bokeh you can use a higher f stop. Like 4, 5.6 etc. Also a lot of people shoot sports at higher frame rates like 60fps or more since it's fast moving.
Thank you very much for this video. I am an amateur user and this helped me record my painting video with my a6400+kit lens 16-50. Would you recommend the sigma 16mm 1.4 for getting sharper videos, where I can zoom in later on the artwork?
The Sigma 16mm is an awesome lens. If you're shooting in 4K you can definitely zoom in post to make up for the lack of zoom. You can also use Sony's Clear Image Zoom in camera to give you some extra reach.
Love it! Just picked up my A6400 a few days ago. I needed this guide. In your opinion, what are the best settings for shooting footage for basketball and fitness?
Thanks for watching, glad you like the video. The settings will still depend on the specific look that you’re going for. However, in general people recommended shooting fast moving sports in higher frame rates. So shooting basketball vids in 60 or 120p might be useful, and you can slow it down in post. The fitness videos may be a little different, some in 24p and other shots in higher frame rates. Stay tuned, I have some tutorials coming about how to shoot fitness videos coming soon.
Hi brother appreciate ur work and lots of respect from india. I just want ur suggestion. I want to buy new camera for film making and travel moments capturing can u suggest me something batter with the lenses my budget is in between 1000 to 1500 dollars.
I had my A6400 for a little almost a year smh and I'm just now getting to working with it so here i go thank you i have a lot of work to do but i will post my first video test this Sunday please follow I'm new to youtube also.
Hi thanks for watching. Absolutely the camera is capable of making short films. Realistically there are people making films with smartphones. But between the amazing 4k, slo motion up to 120p and a great lens line up, you can get a lot done with the a6400.
Big thanks, bro! Please, make a video about record settings. For example, in my country I need to use PAL format and there are only 2 types for 4K: 25 p 100M and 25p 60M. But the FULL HD mod gives more variants like 50p 50M, 50p 25M, 25p 50M etc. What is the difference? It's impossible to find any useful information about this factor.
Hey thanks for watching. Each of the different frame rates also have a bit rate. Basically the higher the rate the more information, like color, that’s in your file. So if you’re color grading a lot you’d want to choose the higher bit rate option. But if you wanted to save more space on the memory card you could use the lower rate. Hope that makes sense.
Hi - still learning with my a6400 and today experimenting with a Sony 16-50 OSS zoom lens. I can get it to work fine when I operate the slide switch on the actual lens but can’t seem to use the dial wheel on the rear? In the zoom menu Tab 2 sub page 5 to find 3 options 1) Zoom 2)Zoom setting (where I can select optical/clear image/digital and 3) Zoom ring rotate. However numbers 1 & 3 are grayed out. If I try to select them there is a message “ Invalid with this lens”? I have tried switching the camera off/on and taken the lens off/on and still the same. What do you think I am doing wrong? If you have time pls come back to me. Thanks, Peter. 🎶👍😊
Hi thanks for watching. I don’t have any experience with that particular lens. Maybe check out a video like this and it may help: ruclips.net/video/sCelQGtOVss/видео.html
Hey! Just found your channel and I just bought the Sony 50mm f1.8 lens you reviewed! My question is... my lens I’m currently using which is the standard lens that came with the Sony a5100 pulls yellow and I have to do a lot of color correcting in post. Do you think the lens I just purchased will be better and more balanced as far as color? And is there anything I can do differently so that it’s not as yellow? Even when I adjust the white balance I still find it kind of yellow. Thanks in advance! Love your channel.
Hey thanks for watching. I'm not too familiar with the a5100. However I do know the older Sony models would have a green-ish color cast to it. Nailing the white balance in camera will help a lot with any color shifts, and it's better to shoot it right than adjust it in post. If the a5100 has picture profiles, then you could make a custom picture profile to adjust the color you're seeing too much of. Also I did a quick search and found these too threads on dpreviews: www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/4048892 and www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/4058345 These are in reference to other cameras, but may be applicable to your situation. Seems like turning off DRO may help. But I'm not sure if that applies to just stills or to video as well. Anyway hope that helps. Good luck creating.
Hey thanks for watching. Yes I utilize different framerates. It just depends on what the shot calls for. I love 120fps, but also use 60 a lot too and 30 in low light scenarios. Check this video we did about switching framerates for b roll: ruclips.net/video/vlpCi4BVU3k/видео.html
The principles shown here should still apply. The menus on the A6500 are slightly different. You may also setup your custom buttons a little different for sports.
