I think this was literally the best Batrep I've watched in terms of visuals quality, and I'm not just counting OPR. If it was for a few tiny bits in the corners of shots I would have thought you did this in a pro studio instead of what I assume is your home. The use of moving camera angles to show the battlefield in true 3d was an especially nice touch, and the 2d minis didn't really detract much since they are so visually interesting and I assume were the source of a few of the pop up graphics which looked great. I can definitely see some improvement from your last batrep which was already pretty good.
what cool content. Always high quality in production. terrain and minis showing that you can play and have fun without killing yourself in the hobby of painting and assembling. keep up the good work bro. I wish only success.
You are correct, regarding the Command Group upgrades in AoF Skirmish. In fact, you can only have one of the those upgrades in total out of the three available - in other words, the one Command Group upgrade you are allowed is either a Sgt OR a Musician OR a Banner, not one of each but one in total in the whole force. Also, Army Forge will let you know about any "mistakes" in building your list as you build it, you may have seen a red X on the top right border of the app when you build your list? It appears on the three horizontal lines icon. Hovering or clicking on that will show you both the restrictions you are working to (points, number of units etc) and what you are doing that doesn't agree with those restrictions. Make sure to have "Force Organization" checked on the screen where you choose the points limit for your army or it won't display the red X when you make an error as there won't be any restrictions for you to make an error against:) Hope all that made sense, thank you again for another awesome batrep!
@@SquareTableUnion No such thing as a silly list if you are playing for fun or building to a narrative! But the Force Organization rules are useful for balancing forces against each other, and of course for competitive play for those who like tourneys etc.
Love the battle report! Just a tweak; the Sergeant rule gives you +1 to hit on the dice roll, not an extra hit if you hit with the weapon. So Sergeant and Sniper rules sort of are redundant.
Great video and very well done on explanation of what is happening at each step. The visuals are very easy to follow and make it easy to see the battle play out. Looking forward to more in the future
20 mins in, and my only confusion on the rules used so far is that I was under the impression victory points for objectives are not counted until the end of Round 4 unless you are using one of the alternate rules like Relic Hunts, or Side Missions. Edit: Ahhhhh. I saw how you moved the points around at the end of Round 4. Nevermind :)
Yeah, I use those flags and such to help me keep track of things, especially during a video production. I can see why it can look confusing and I might visually change something or explain the rules better in the next video. Thanks for the comment!
@@SquareTableUnion I think the flags are very helpful for seeing what's claimed vs. contested, you just might want to mention that they don't fully count until Round 4. In fact I think I'm going to try and get flags made for our local games as I think it will help a lot of new players keep better track of things. And likely myself as well honestly.
What a quality wargame video! I'm just beginning to play OPR (wargames in general no counting Blood Bowl) with paper minis and this is far the best video/tutorial yet I bumped into!
Thanks! Welcome to the OPR family. I’m pretty sure I’ve made a few rules mistakes in this video, so if something seems off, just scroll through the comments and usually people offering corrections.
The Human Empire is a new army being released in sets by OPR on their Patreon monthly. When the release is finished, OPR will start on a new army and then usually release the finished army (Human Empire) for free later on Drivethrurpg. So the options are to wait a month or so for free minis or join the OPR Patreon for $5 a month.
I love these battle reports and the editing is awesome! I also enjoyed the narrative story of the battle and the history of the situation. I think maybe some voice acting could add to the experience. I’d love to help you with that (as a amateur voice actor) if you are interested 😊
That is a nice offer. I’ll think about it, especially down the road when I get really comfortable with battle reports and editing all together. My natural voice is actually very southern so I feel like it is weird trying to not be that and over compensate if that makes sense.
@@SquareTableUnion I do like your natural voice and narration. I wouldn't change those at all. (It sounds similar to @MadSeasonShow which I also watch) I was thinking more in the direction of one-liners if a squad hits / misses / wounded right after you roll. Or maybe just a taunt in a beginning of a round. P.S Sorry if I'm seem overbearing. It wasn't my intention. ❤
@@Mushkinides you are totally fine. I’m a graphic designer by trade so I take criticism well and usually welcome it. I’m going to check out the other channel you are talking about.
You can take a sergeant per unit, but you can't , raw, take a full command group. However, as I play also other games, all my units use full comand groups and my enemies can do the same. It is reflected in the points anyways, is not gamechanging aaaand...belongs to game played with regiments.
Yes, I actually noticed that and maybe one other time with strike back while I was editing. Figured those are optional so I didn’t stress about it lol.
Thanks for this awesome video! I've been wanting to do some solo war gaming. I've got A song of blades and heroes, haven't heard of this system it looks really fun as well, and has an AI solo version, which appeals to me for sure.
Nice! I’m currently building a warband for both Ratmen and Lizardmen for Song of Blades and Heroes. OPR is very similar. If you already have a good collection of different factions, you’ll find a match in OPR which is nice.
Yeah, my ratmen never win either. Well shot and edited, though. I'm going to check the rules but I think I have been using Sergeant wrong. Your explanations were very clear, and may change my next game.
I might have had a conversation with someone in the comments about Sergeant. Not such if I did it right myself so feel free to browse the comments and check all of the corrections.
@@SquareTableUnion Looks like we tied on reading comprehension. It's a +1 to attack rolls, not +1 hit when attacking. I was applying that to the whole UNIT, though, not that one model. Explains a little better why those dwarves hit so dang hard.
+1 for using paper minis! I ❤ paper minis
Agree! I want to do some paper minis too!

Lighting and camerawork is wonderfully done. Very steady panning across the battlefield. Great explanations
The graphics, music, and sound effects are very professional seeming and the right kind of aesthetic for Age of Fantasy. Amazing work!

That is super encouraging. Thanks!
Love the Paper Minis! Gotta say, this is a very high quality battle rep. Really digging the victory points and how many units are left screens.
Just found your channel (thanks to warboss fitz) and i just wanna say that you just earned a new subscription!.
Nice!
Can you do a tutorial on how you do your minis? I love that you put the mini's info on the bases.
Sure, my next video that will be out next week will talk about playing with paper minis but I’ll look into producing one about making them.

Hab ich so wiedergefunden. Danke!
Gibt nur wenige Kanäle mit so einer guten Spielaufbereitung.
Awesome Awesome! Great BatRep. Keep at it!
Nice. I think the human marksmen should have consolidated into the third zone after they destroyed the stunned unit, wresting control immediately.
The sergeant hits on 4+ not adding an extra hit.

Cool to see a OPR game.
Obligatory “where did you get “X” from?” question… :)
In this case, I am asking about where you got the objective circles from.
Cheers,
That’s an Amazon find. I’m not sure if a link works in a comment but look up, “Jucoci Objective Point Markers”

I'll just say "dito" in terms of quality and professionalism. I'll have to check your other vids!
rewatching this again just because the production quality is so good! what do you use to make your graphics? it's amazing!
Thanks friend! I’m a graphic designer by trade, so everything is Adobe. Mostly Adobe Illustrator.
AP and cover do not balance out, cover reduces the to hit value, and AP reduces the defense, they are 2 different things.
After a quick check, cover does add +1 to defense rolls. I think reducing to hit rolls is an older rule. The video here is correct
How come the rat sergeant was auto killed when the empire general charged him?
I don’t remember with this video but you used to be able to do that with older rules if a unit was stun/shaken.
25.02 - The Rat boss, though fatigued, could still strike back against the human boss geezer.
