Not surprised that Vertigo was Bernard Hermann's favorite of his Hitchcock scores. The film's theme of yearning for a woman that is out of reach is one that is singularly amenable to musical treatment. Both the Hermann score and the subject matter always reminded me of the "sehnsucht" in Wagner's Tristan und Isolde.

So glad to see you back and I hope all is well with you. Thank you for the very unique look at the films of my favorite director. I had not considered it before but you are right. Music (or sound) plays a key role in almost every Hitchcock film.
