Each to their own I s’pose. I’m not keen on the ivy honey and let the colonies use that as their winter stores. Ivy honey fetches a premium though

Looking at the coming forecast it’s likely to bring even our season to a close and we will be getting treatments on.

Good job those nucs were strapped hopefully they're ok. Can you make soft set from ragwort or mix with another honey

Checked them this week and none the worse for the tumble. Yes it could be turned into soft set but I’d still be concerned about the smell in the jar. It is quite pungent.
Wondering if I can sell it 🤔

The wax melter looks great, how do you get the cappings so dry before putting them in the melter?

I allow them to sit overnight in our Techtron uncapping tank. It has a perforated floor which drains almost all the honey off.

I kept my ragwort honey for three years but it still stunk of a homeless person that hadn’t washed for years. Yes it’s like urine. I wouldn’t sell it. You will lose customers. They would wonder why it smelt like that after three years. I just fed mine back to the bees for winter terrible smell, people said the smell will go if you keep it but he doesn’t. It still stunk after three years in storage.
