I dearly miss Heathkit (even after it temporarily became Zenith Heathkit). They gave me the avenue to kick-start my career in Electronics and Computer Engineering (from which I am now retired, and missing it even more ☹). I built my first 'Mono Amplifier' kit at age 12, and it has remained with me. Helping me progress well through a Technical High School, that prepared me for my eventual career in Electronics and Computer Engineering. I wish I could relive most of it.

I have a C-3 Heathkit Capacitor Checker but seldom use it. I know how old those vintage wax paper capacitors are and at
their age they can go any minute if not bad already. New polypropylene caps are just more reliable , cheap and I have
plenty of them so to save tons of time just I snip the old waxers out and replace with new ones. Old ones go right into the garbage can. Thanks for just confirming what I already suspected! Good video. Steve from IL

I had a vintage piece of Conn gear that I swapped out bumblebees for modern film caps... The device was a "low hour" type device.. and the bees hadn't gone completely south. I'd image in a TV/radio that would be a much higher hour.... they'd be farther gone. Even my low hour bees weren't testing as well as fresh ones.

Looks like polypro to me. I'd like to have an IT-28 to go with my NanoVNA. I got my clip-leaded holder from a box of surplus junk from a friend who passed away. I keep it handy in a box of connectors and adapters on my test-bench.

Keep looking on eBay, or such, and an IT-28 will appear at the right price. It seems like the "good stuff" for working on old electronics is hard to find. That is a shame. Perseverance is the way to go! Thanks for the comment! And yes they are polypro caps. I just had a brain fart at the time.
