Wow this tribute to corky made me cry 😭 8,300 lbs such a gentle giant. Such a forgiving orca, so patient with new trainers and she’s inspired over 5 decades visitors. She was the first orca to ever have a calf in the care of man, although motherhood didn’t work out she was an amazing surrogate aswell’ what a legend I hope she lives to be 100!
Corky is so old for a orca in captivity! I’m so proud of her ngl. I’m actually crying hearing how far she came into human care. Thank Seaworld for taking care of this magnificent creature.
And the first one to give birth to a calf in the care of man. She truly is a legend, so sweet, beautiful and her kind is so rare being from British Columbia waters shows how different her ecotype is compared to Icelandic

Lolita made it far for being in that tiny pool with no shade in the hot Miami sun, I knew she would pass once the dolphin company bought Miami Seaquarium and fired her life long vets and the people that worked with her for decades- they let the chillers break she was in warm green water and the cut back on her food gave her rotten fish. She was big and beautiful like corky - corky lost her teeth to stress, Lolita actually had perfect pristine teeth. I live in south Florida I loved her, no viewing tank so she only saw people twice a day for her 15 minute shows. I always hoped Seaworld would have took her in. I miss her so much 😢
Corky ll definitely is such a special killer whale. Even after all of the tragedies she’s faced like being captured, being mistreated at Marineland of the Pacific, losing all of her babies, losing her mate Orky ll and losing best friends over the years, she somehow always manages to find the joy in her life even though she belongs in the wild. Seaworld has definitely been a better place for her for they provide her better care than Marineland did. Corks is also an adoptive mom! She always tended to babysit the calves for the moms, but in August of 1989, when Kandu V died and Orkid became an orphan, Corky came in and adopted her, raising Orkid as her own. She’s also not only the OLDEST captive orca around the world, but is the LARGEST FEMALE in captivity around the world at 19.7 feet long and 8,400 pounds! She is a legend! Happy late birthday sweetheart ❤

Beautifully said
Proof that they give the best care they possibly can. SeaWorld for the win!
I’m literally in tears, what a beautiful tribute to Corky, the first orca in human care to reach 60 years old!!!
And the first one to give birth to a calf in the care of man. She truly is a legend, so sweet, beautiful and her kind is so rare being from British Columbia waters shows how different her ecotype is compared to Icelandic
It gives me hope that the lifespan of captive Orcas will continue to grow as it has for the last 30 years.

Corky's lifespan broke the record of Tokitae (1966 - 2023).
Corky was always older than Lolita (Tokitae).
@EquineMetalhead Tokitae passed away in August 2023 at the age of 57.
@ I know she did. I was saying Corky’s always been older. She’s older than Lolita by a year.
@EquineMetalhead they might be the same age since they where wild caught we wil never truly know
Happy birthday Corky! She's a legendary whale!
Am surprised she lived so long.
Brainy Smurf: She is so nice And beautiful. Clumsy Smurf: Awesome.
