I got myself one of these recently but as a dummy loco with no motor bogie, perfect for my use case for it. I repainted it as an ETHEL loco (EHTEL 2 in blue/grey).
Keith, have you ever replaced or added pickup's to a Hornby R239 BR black class 4P 2-6-4T or similar? I am replacing the x03 motor with the new Peters Spares can motor and discovered the original pickups are too loose in the chasis. After watching this original video I have upgraded several CL86, CL87, CL55 CL156 loco's. Thanks again.
Hi Hugh, I did once fit extra pick ups to the loco on a tender drive Schools class if that is of any use. I videoed it and you can see how I got on on this channel, Regards Keith
Absolutely brilliant thanks Keith. I already have one of those Eileen's kits but was not sure how to use it. Now I know! I have one question - where did you get the lead sheets? I'd like to correct the lean on my Hornby Class 29 so will give that a go. It also needs weathering, and I like your techniques. I've still not summed up the courage to take my airbrush out of the box so I really need to do that some time! All the best.
Thanks Andrew, the lead sheets also came from Eileen's. I only started serious airbrushing in the last six months or so and if it is of any consolation to you I have to summon up courage every time I take my airbrush out of its box too!!!
Very nice job 👍🏻 Just shows you don’t need to spend hundreds of pounds on day a bachmann locomotive to make something as good as yours 😂 Living in Manchester I loved the class 24/25s trundling round the north west lol 😆
Glad you liked it Stevie...I must say I object to the current prices being charged so I increase my fleet mainly these days by old Lima models. Once modified they are excellent, Keith
Thank you for the video. I just bought a second hand 25 and will implement your suggestions. Just the ticket!
Hope it goes well, Regards Keith
The mods certainly did the trick. Excellent weathering too.
Just came across your video, been looking for ages for ways to improve my old Hornby/Lima pickup. Thanks.
Hope it's useful for you, Regards Keith
@@KV12543 Have ordered pickup kits from Eileen's, waiting on delivery. Thanks again

You have made an excellent job of that locomotive Keith.
Thanks, I reckon it looks better than it did before I started which is all I could have hoped for, Cheers, Keith
Fantastic job well done indeed. Well filmed and narrated also. Cheers, Mike
Thanks Mike, glad you liked it, Regards Keith
A very enjoyable film, your voice is so wonderful! Whilst I will never do any weathering I might attempt the extra pick ups.
Try it....soldering was something that used to scare me but now I don't find it difficult at all, Keith
Another great video. Fantastic job on the weathering.
Thanks Max, it does make a difference doesn't it? Regards Keith

Excellent use for a dummy 25. Regards Keith
