I recently came across a vid by top world championship anglers in which they discussed the leader config. Up until then I had been using a tapered mono leader + step down mono + multi coloured mono indicator + tippet but seemed to struggle with the cast. Using the championship leader set up of soft mono + step down soft mono + multi coloured mono indicator + fluro tippet. The cast is now very much smoother and snakes out with very little effort
Every day is a school day. I’ve now started using Stren for the leader, which is a soft mono. Helps the cast a lot. I prefer a coiled indicator (the yellow stuff in the film). But there are lots of ways to do this. As long as it works for the angler.
@@FordyGoesFishing Yes, I tend to use Stren but have also experiment with good results with Barkley "Vanish" 0.23mm but find it a little too thin and lose hand/finger contact with the line at the end of my cast
Nice video Andy. On chalkstream beats where you are confined to bank fishing, would you still opt for a Euro rig or change to a traditional flyline and indicator set up.
Hey Peter. It depends a lot on flow, access etc. you can fish this method across and at decent range with practice. If the river is tearing through, then probably best to try another tactics like going to a nearby pub.
@@FordyGoesFishing Haha, good advice. I recall on the Frome when fishing from a bank high position, I did get trouble with leader tangles when 'airborne' casting a two fly euro rig whereas when wading and using water tension, no problem. But I do love the directness of the presentation.
I love the drone shots above, you can see a lot of fish holding all over the place
Very informative and well made. Thanks for sharing

@@PeterFinnis A heavier point flyn may well solve that.
@@FordyGoesFishing Yes, it did....a 4mm tungsten squirmy I'm ashamed to say, haha!!
