The thing about his passes, not only are they right on target, but they lead the receiving player just the right amount when necessary. He is the only player I see that really gets that, or at the very least is able to accomplish that. I get the stress of a game, especially a big one, but to me that part is a no brainer, and only Messi gets it.
That means he leads the attacks. I commented in another short sbout the pass in the WC final. Only knowledgeable people recognize that pass as a genius. Many players can pass right to Alvarez but few people can send the ball move forward with the right weight. The curve Messi made help the attack easy and more important synchronized the movements of Argentine. It is not normal pass or good pass. The most important thing here is Messi made the best decision in second while Alvarez and Mac Alister passes are regularly expected
@quanthehiep that's a chicken and the egg argument. His awareness on the field allows him to lead the attack, not vice versa. He has the foresight to see where the chess pieces need to be and act accordingly in a way that others just don't possess, but he is able to also act on that in real time unlike anyone else also. You can see it in his face sometimes when he passes to no one, or behind someone, that wasn't his mistake, he was expecting the other player to see the same thing and they did not, which means the play failed. That's why the classic trio of xavi, inesta, and Messi were so difficult, because they all thought the same, paid attention the same, and planned the same because they had practiced so much together. Messi has struggled to find that connection after that, msn was close, but they excelled at attacking, M-I-X were amazing at controlling tempo, ball control, and that led to opportunities. I just realized that connection, M-I-X liked to mix it up, and MSN got the headlines, not that they didn't before, but that's still a cool coincidence
