It’s so crazy that you uploaded this cuz just a WEEK ago i was remembering that this series existed and started to watch BR2 videos on youtube to reminisce on the times when i was 10 years old and rented the game any chance i got. i loved that game so much also just a couple days ago i ordered BR: Extreme for the xbox. i can’t wait till i receive it. thanks for such a throwback of a video
I'm so happy you did this video. I'm really into the FGC and Bloody Roar is a game that always gets criminally overlooked. Primal Fury was my jam and i still play it with friends constantly.
Had to do a double take when I saw this video pop up on my feed. Loved these series so much, and yeah, it was definitely one of those fun weekend fighters! Excellent work on the vid!
I never played anything past BRII, but man, what a fun game. You hit the nail on the head: this was something anyone could pick up and play, but with enough depth to be rewarding. I used to play it with the kids I was babysitting all the time.
I played Primal Fury and Bloody Roar 4, I bought them at a game store for really cheap when I was a teen and they provided some fun for the summer. Thanks for covering the series 👍
On one hand, the nostalgia runs deep. I'm glad to have played all of them when I was younger (including that Beastorizer arcade game, but in a roller rink). And I wholesomely agree--that Siliconera article was indeed a hard FU. But on the other hand, some fighters and practices today---not to mention that Konami possibly has rights to this, what?!---kinda makes me fearful of Bloody Roar's return to relevance. I'd welcome a new game, but with a bit of caution. This is a great vid, though. Consider me subbed!
My god I remember playing Bloody Roar with my cousins back then. It along with Melee and Street Fighter were my first look into the fighting game genre. My favorite character was Yugo the shonen protagonist Wolf.
This man said Umemaro 3D... Lol. I remember seeing Bloody Roar in FYE as a kid, though i never got to play it. I finally had my chance w/Bloody Roar 2. i loved doing the rapid punch attack w/Long the Tiger; it looked so cool; he was my favorite! The next time i saw Bloody Roar was w/Primal Fury. It was such an improvement over 2. Shina's titties bounced. She became my new favorite. That game had a lot of cool stuff though, probably my favorite in the series. I enjoyed Bloody Roar 4, the extra Beast Drives and Nagi was my favorite. But F**k that dragon monk and his loli maiden too (well, the dragon was kinda cool).
I loved playing Bloody Roar 3. I was a young boy with a PS2 and this fighting game is a total gem for me. I dont like fighting games much but this aside from MK made me a fan of the genre. So much fun. Im ssd HUDSON disappeared.
Yugo's sprint + jump & double kick was awesome. You would run from the other side of the ring to violenly push the opponement against the fence breaking it and winning the round.
Bloody Roar is such a fantastic series and gave me a lot of inspiration for my own characters and stories and I would kill for a Bloody Roar 5 made with love and care and not as a throwaway title just for the sake of saying "Here, you got it" Though personally if I could make one change to BR if they ever did that would be to change Nagi's beast form to something more beastly, make her into a Kiwi Bird or a Praying Mantis or something, not this Kasumi from Dead or Alive badly cosplaying Bloodrayne while flailing around weaponized tumors, maybe add some extra characters like those from Metamorphic Force or something or maybe a guest character like Jon Talbain from Darkstalkers he would be perfect for that kind of game and would be a nice change of pace instead of adding the Scottish Charlotte Flair known as Morrigan.
my friend and I actually pooled money to collect most of the Bloody Roar games a few years back, we've had a blast playing them, I would be so excited for a sequel
Oh, the happiness and sadness this video makes me feel. Happy that people still love Bloody Roar as much as I do..and sad that we'll probably never see a new entry. Especially if Konami does still hold the license. It'll be left to die like so many others..
I would LOVE a remake/reboot of the series featuring the entire cast of the first 2 games. I still play bloody roar 1 and 2 to current times because I love the lore and characters.

Don't say I didn't tell you, and don't even try to hit me with the old Konami pessimistic attitude, because Bomberman R, and the turbografx 16 mini with Hudson titles are right there. Bloody roar on the playstation family of systems was a huge part of my childhood. The third installment being my favorite. I cant count the number of hours i spent in practice honing my skills so i could whoop on my buds.
I remember for a long time, I was asking for a bloody roar wha happun a lot of years ago. Looks like he finally got to it in this retrospective format and I didn't see it until now lol
As a kid, my dad had a demo disc with one of the, “Bloody Roar” games on it, I don’t remember which one. I do remember enjoying it as a kid, and also remember my dad referring to it as, “Boring Snore” lmao, we played mostly Tekken 3 at the time.
I remember playing bloody roar 1 for the first time with my brother and cousins when I was younger, it was amazing. We all took turns trying to beat that arcade mode with our favorite character and trying to beat each other in versus. It was truly a memory I cherish dearly. I need bloody roar to come back.
From Bahrain here! The sports club that housed the taekwondo I used to go to when I was 12, had a bloody roar 2 cabinet setup in the main lobby. I used to gawk at that cabinet along with afterburner, and metal slug the most.
Bloody Roar was my first real fighting game. It was my favorite thing to play whenever we made the trip to see our grandparents, and my uncle would come over. Oddly enough, the game was still called Bloody Roar, and not "Beastorizer" which... Probably suggests my uncle might have gotten a not-so-legal copy back then. I liked it so much that I was floored when my dad got us a PS2 and BR3. Absolutely my favorite fighting game, and few others manage to get close to what I liked so much about it. Bloody Roar is also probably the reason why I like strong women so much, cuz... Shina... Thanks for telling me about Primal Fury, I need to look for a copy now.
My god, this was a GOOD watch. THANK YOU. I played every entry and owned 3, primal and the played the Kojima destruction version a few rounds with my boys and we put it down never to return due to what they had done with the beast gauge. For that reason primal’s life lasted a while longer. Good times. We had gotten so advanced we began to literally dodge attacks. There was a mechanic that instead of blocking you would dodge all your opponents attacks if timed right. Givin’ the speed of the game, this added to some sick movements and battles. Damn Good times. LONG LIVE BLOODY ROAR (pre-Kojima). -Yugo the Wolf -Kohryu the Iron Mole -Jenny the the bat (sick air combos) -Buszima the Chameleon -Gado the lion -Xion the unborn.... I literally probably used every character.... shenlong the mole and jenny being my favorite.
1000% on board here. A-cho or Kouhatsu some other arcade still has matches and even tournaments for BR 1, 2 and 3 cabs. One of my greatest failings in life is never having found the anime series which most definitely is a real thing that existed in some capacity, just not now. Also Extreme was on Gamecube (in Japan) as well with Fang in it, progressive scan enabled and the animated scenes removed for weird CGI.
Oh man, this brings back the memories. I remember buying a Japanese bootleg copy of BR2 for PS1. That metal music video intro had me won over. And I hadn't even started the game. That game was so hype. #BRINGBACKBLOODYROAD
This makes me sad,i love the bloody roar series and knowing Konami has a death grip on the ip,i feel like we will never get another great Bloody Roar game again #FuckKonami.
Konami needs to redeem themselves by being sane again by firing that asshole Hideki Hayakawa he's just as worst as the current president of WWE who's been fucking up the WWE literately Nick Khan or should I said Shao Nick Kahn!
A local Ice rink had a Beastorizers cabinet for a little while and I'm convince it only ever got my quarters cause I was the only kid that ever played that thing. Then I never saw anything about this series until years later when I found Primal Fury at a thrift shop and picked it up, I still boot it up occasionally. Would love to see a new Bloody Roar game but I think odds are low for that right now.
I hope that one day Bloody Roar returns and as great as my favorite Bloody Roar 3. Too bad I never played Bloody Roar Primal Fury that sounded good too.
I do love this series. I played the first one back when it came out and was hooked. The 4th was pretty bad, but I'd love to see a new installment. Just make my girl Alice more of a bunny girl like she used to be and not the big bunny she was in the 4th game.
I loved the first Bloody Roar. I chose it from blockbuster one day as a kid. Must have been just for the name alone. The boss in the first game I believe is a little girl and some of her origin is revealed by unlock. I know the second one was more popular and Egoraptor was a fan of it and once said he played it in a competition. I never played the sequels myself. The fox being dropped kind of sucks because that was a favorite of mine. Discovered later she is possibly transgender. She was definitely born male. Always seemed kind of androgynous.
Hans has the same deal as Poison with different regions giving different definitions but certainly queer. I personally found fascinating if applying a self indentification journey being muddled further by being able to transform into the fox. Some of their moves were given to Jenny but not really the same. And the boss girl is Uriko and Uranus.
Everyone has there own favourite nostalgic fighting game I liked Cardinal Sin, killing floor Digimon rumble, jurrasic park warpath an the unholy war But only bloody roar 2 is in the top 5 fighting games on PS1
Man I had that jurassic park game it was awesome when you ate a human or a tiny dinosaur to get some health back, and I broke 2 controllers from playing br2 so much
Primal Fury was the 3rd GameCube game I bought...It's still in my top 10 for the system. I would gobble up a remaster of that or a new entry so fast. Shina is indeed, best girl.
Yes Matt! Bloody Roar needs to come back and come back HARD! (blood and all) They should keep the name BEASTORIZER if they do, it sounds metal AF! (3 had the best GAME OVER theme HANDS DOWN!) Please Konami do something right for once. (might end up as a pachinko game ...knowing them)
Am I undergoing the Mandela Effect or something? I never heard this called Beasterizor, I remember playing it and it was Bloody Roar? I'm confused. Edit: Ooooh, it was the second one I remember then. I remember Long and Shenlong.
Thanks to Konami we'll NEVER see another proper Bloody Roar game ever again. Btw Uriko the cat is really the first iteration of the Chimera Project, similar to Uranus the Chimera, Uriko lost her memories which is why she was only able to transform half way which is the cat girl form.
Ok, before even watching I want to say THANK YOU! Bloody Roar 2 is THE game that got me seriously into fighting games. Sure I had played my share of MD/Genesis titles (SSF2turbo, MK3, Fatal Fury) but BR2 really was the first fighting game that got me so enthralled to learn and practice combos with all the characters to the point nobody would want to play against me any more when I was 10 and I had, like, 4 games on the PlayStation. It will always have a sweet spot in my heart :')
I'm actually trying to get into guilty gear. I love fighting games! Also if they bring back a TRUE continuation of Fatal Fury I would EXPLODE!. Shout out to Dragon Ball FighterZ!
Tomba was actually our (me and my brother) first game on the PS1. I don't think we ever got to finish it since I was 7 or 8 then and I didn't have the patience or the skill to finish it.

I had such a stupid crush on Cronos back in the day. The phoenix guy that could also be a penguin.
I remember one of the big unlocks is Alice in her schoolgirl uniform. Kind of creepy.
Yeah, I never cared for what Primal Fury did to Alice's Bunny form. Said form definitely looked best in the first game. 2 was okay, but 3 made her look all weird in her default outfit, like her pelvis was dislocated or something.
I've been waiting so long for this to get a respectable remake.
It’s so crazy that you uploaded this cuz just a WEEK ago i was remembering that this series existed and started to watch BR2 videos on youtube to reminisce on the times when i was 10 years old and rented the game any chance i got. i loved that game so much
also just a couple days ago i ordered BR: Extreme for the xbox. i can’t wait till i receive it. thanks for such a throwback of a video
I was playing Bloody Roar 2 the other day. Will always have a place in my heart.
I'm so happy you did this video. I'm really into the FGC and Bloody Roar is a game that always gets criminally overlooked. Primal Fury was my jam and i still play it with friends constantly.
I saved and saved my allowance for a ps1 and ff7 and bloody roar. What a great summer!
Imagine if they did make a new Bloody Roar game but it was in the same anime style as Primal Fury?
Extreme*
Huh. An interesting niche series that has a dedicated fanbase. So of course Konami owns it. Shame.
Yuuuuuuuu-gi oh oh oh oh.....
Lopunny: I'm the original thicc anthro bunny.
*Alice would like to know your location*
but matt, the howard connection was totally legit
"My revenge has only begun." Bzzzzzztttttt -Stun the insect
The noise of Stun's wings has been burned into my memory since I was like 5, lmao.
@@Graysett those wings were too funny, buzzing all over the stage. I like to cancel out and spam his wing moves lol
EAT DIS!! HMMM
Bloody Roar is such a fantastic series and gave me a lot of inspiration for my own characters and stories and I would kill for a Bloody Roar 5 made with love and care and not as a throwaway title just for the sake of saying "Here, you got it"
Though personally if I could make one change to BR if they ever did that would be to change Nagi's beast form to something more beastly, make her into a Kiwi Bird or a Praying Mantis or something, not this Kasumi from Dead or Alive badly cosplaying Bloodrayne while flailing around weaponized tumors, maybe add some extra characters like those from Metamorphic Force or something or maybe a guest character like Jon Talbain from Darkstalkers he would be perfect for that kind of game and would be a nice change of pace instead of adding the Scottish Charlotte Flair known as Morrigan.
my friend and I actually pooled money to collect most of the Bloody Roar games a few years back, we've had a blast playing them, I would be so excited for a sequel
1. Bloody Roar is coming back. I found out after a lot of investigating. Don't say I didn't tell you, and don't even try to hit me with the old Konami pessimistic attitude, because Bomberman R, and the turbografx 16 mini with Hudson titles are right there. Konami/Hudson has done good, recently. (if you exclude what they've done to SIlent Hill, and Contra. I won't include Metal Gear since Metal Gear Survive is a spinoff..) Eighting's still around too, so they can def. make a new BR alongside "Kohudson" ruclips.net/video/SB1Qu6RA2lo/видео.html
2. There's a Bloody Roar Discord, the community is definitely there: discord.gg/VJz57cr
3. Guides for mechanics / tech for Bloody Roar are a thing since the series has a lot of depth: ruclips.net/p/PLf8OfEiWYGcBbriOSxYPPeTBRw-MYbcY-
4. There's been a petition that's been doing successful for Bloody Roar:

5. The Revival Plan video.

Hey there, I just saw this video and really loved seeing Bloody Roar getting some love.
Btw there's something I'd like to share here: part of a small but fairly active community, and we're trying to rekindle interest in the BR franchise by building up a competitive online scene for the games. We mostly play Bloody Roar Extreme using the Dolphin Emulator's built-in Netplay feature.
Here's a link to the discord in case anyone's interested in participating (we have comprehensive tutorials for setting up the emulator and the online features, so don't worry): discord.gg/fYtTgmU
Bloody roar on the playstation family of systems was a huge part of my childhood. The third installment being my favorite. I cant count the number of hours i spent in practice honing my skills so i could whoop on my buds.
I had everything memorized to the point where I beat the game on hardest difficulty with Gado in One Minute and Nine Seconds.
I remember for a long time, I was asking for a bloody roar wha happun a lot of years ago. Looks like he finally got to it in this retrospective format and I didn't see it until now lol
The Bloody Roar franchise is actually a lotta fun for a retired fighting game series.
As a kid, my dad had a demo disc with one of the, “Bloody Roar” games on it, I don’t remember which one. I do remember enjoying it as a kid, and also remember my dad referring to it as, “Boring Snore” lmao, we played mostly Tekken 3 at the time.
Konami still owns it? REST ASSURE MATT! IT'S BOUND TO APPEAR A PACHINKO OR SLOT MACHINE BLOODY ROAR AT SOME POINT!!!
I remember playing bloody roar 1 for the first time with my brother and cousins when I was younger, it was amazing. We all took turns trying to beat that arcade mode with our favorite character and trying to beat each other in versus. It was truly a memory I cherish dearly.
I need bloody roar to come back.
Are they button mashers? Yes. Are they rad as fuckin' hell? Also, yes.
Uranus and Alice are best waifus.
From Bahrain here! The sports club that housed the taekwondo I used to go to when I was 12, had a bloody roar 2 cabinet setup in the main lobby. I used to gawk at that cabinet along with afterburner, and metal slug the most.
I remember when I was looking up moves on game faqs for shina I was slightly confused on who I saw wrote that faq
Primal Fury was my jam back in the day. Best in the series.
-Yugo the Wolf
-Kohryu the Iron Mole
-Jenny the the bat (sick air combos)
-Buszima the Chameleon
-Gado the lion
-Xion the unborn....
10:04 - 10:41
“I hope that clears everything up”
😂😂😂 I was more clueless after
16:48 So what of this One Hit Hills mode? Sounds interesting
I believe its a Weezer song? i could be wrong.
Best Bloody Roar retrospective ever, what an awesome and underrated 3D fighting series and yes, Bloody Roar 4 was a poor finale for the franchise.
I actually own a physical copy of BR2 for PS1.
Thanks for covering this game series.
I hope that one day Bloody Roar returns and as great as my favorite Bloody Roar 3. Too bad I never played Bloody Roar Primal Fury that sounded good too.
I’ve never heard of this series and there’s so many entries. It’s incredible. Thank you Matt for this content
I wish someone would pick this title up and make a good reboot of it.
Pak-Mann arcade in Pasadena, CA had all 3 cabs. Place was sketchy af but obscure stuff would pop up there all the time.
11:04 Unborn are extinct species
Stun’s ending has him possessed by them to bring them back... somehow...
Mi hermano, cálmate. Ya has escrito 3 comentarios...
I do love this series. I played the first one back when it came out and was hooked. The 4th was pretty bad, but I'd love to see a new installment. Just make my girl Alice more of a bunny girl like she used to be and not the big bunny she was in the 4th game.
Nagi is really reminding me of Kasumi from Dead or Alive
Me and my mom used to have a blast playing Bloody Roar. This game has major nostalgia for me
I loved the first Bloody Roar.
I miss bloody roar so much... BR2 and 3 basically made my childhood
Everyone has there own favourite nostalgic fighting game
I liked Cardinal Sin, killing floor Digimon rumble, jurrasic park warpath an the unholy war
But only bloody roar 2 is in the top 5 fighting games on PS1
Man I had that jurassic park game it was awesome when you ate a human or a tiny dinosaur to get some health back, and I broke 2 controllers from playing br2 so much
Going back to that intro, mildly funny to see GGS slightly cooled off while SF is now the hottest thing in the fightin scene.
Edit: It is Kaiser lol! That sounds like KaiserNeko😭in the story lore part
(3 had the best GAME OVER theme HANDS DOWN!)
Please Konami do something right for once.
(might end up as a pachinko game ...knowing them)
100% Agreed BEST COMMENT ON THIS VIDEO! Give this at least over 100 likes Cmon people!
Yes or microtransactioned for costumes
@@mysticphoenix1987 Costumes are okay. Characters are more likely.
Konami would probably lock the OG characters behind a paywall. Unlock it for $14.99 or some crap. :V
@@frostfyrezero1830 I can see that happening since they locked SAVES behind a paywall! Never i have seen anything that stupid in my life as that.
My reaction while watching this video:
"Bloody Roar is due a comeback!"
IP owned by Konami.
"Okay nevermind, that'll never happen. RIP Bloody Roar."
I had Bloody Roar 2 when I was a young lad. The artwork and music are so bad-ass that its successors were nowhere near as great.
I just played Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator 2......long title, but it was insanely fun.
I love the surprisingly deep lore of old fighting games like this, KI, MK and SC. Very creative, bizarre and badass.
I would throw all my money at a bloody Roar reboot
Saaaame
Indeed
Wow, last I heard of this franchise was when I tried the first two entries on MAME like 15 years ago. Had no idea there were more games in the series.
Retrospective suggestion: Tomba/Tombi 1 and 2
Tomba was actually our (me and my brother) first game on the PS1. I don't think we ever got to finish it since I was 7 or 8 then and I didn't have the patience or the skill to finish it.
growing up in Lagos, Nigeria, Bloody Roar gave me so many awesome memories. I miss it dearly. so sad.
