    I bought a pair of these as my first ski and really enjoy skiing on them they perform surprisingly well even on the sketchy off piste I go on. Seem to glide well through powder and they also carve really nicely on piste.

    Hi there, great review. I have skied in the 2019 captis and really enjoyed them. I am considering buying this new version and I was wondering if there is any significant difference between the two?
    I am 5 ft 11 inch and 85kg and an aggressive skier, but also love jumping about in the park. I have previously used the 178 is and it felt comfortable and relatively easy to perform 360s and tricks\jumps etc. Do you think this is still the correct length? I think a longer ski may make the park more difficult.
    Thanks very much!

    Hey thanks for the content! I just bought the 178s and i am 176-177 tall and 65kgs. Do you think i should mount the bindings a couple cm forward? Thanks!!

    Hi, another great review. How would these compare to the Camox? Im mostly on piste, icy to soft. Have you guys skied the Justis? Cheers Nick.

    • @Snowtraxstore
      @Snowtraxstore  4 года назад +2

      Thanks! The Camox offers a bit more bite on the piste & is a little wider for more all terrain skiing. If you're more adventurous & looking for a little more drive on the piste / crud then the Camox is a good alternative. We've not tested the Justis yet, it sits in the same category as the Camox & Captis, but is wider agian at 100mm underfoot, with double titanal plates. It'll be much stiffer which will be good for hard aggressive skiing, but not quite so playful. Looking forwards to testing it later in the year!

    hi thanks for the review .
    I just ordered them with 171 lenght ,I'm 173 cm tall I weight 73 kg and I am pretty muscular so I was wondering if it is correct the size that I had choose.

    • @Snowtraxstore
      @Snowtraxstore  4 года назад +1

      Hi Matteo, you could up size to the 178cm, this would give you more stability at speed & more float in the powder. However, the 171cm will be more nimble & easier to turn in more challenging terrain. Both would be ok for you, so it is down to personal choice & the length of ski you like. If you feel you're an advanced aggressive skier then I'd up size for the stability.

      Hi Stevo! The Captis is a fun ski to shred the pistes & with it's twintip shape, won't let you down in the park. We'd recommend the 178cm for your height & weight. There's a really good offer on at the moment with a Marker Griffon binding, shipping to the US as well! Check it out - www.snowtraxstore.co.uk/skis/4145-black-crows-captis-ski-2020.html

    Hey Snowtrax, I was looking at the captis and was wondering what size I should get? Am I able to ski them both on and off piste? I'm 175-177 cm tall and anywhere between 60-65kg depending on what I'm doing. I'd say I'm an intermediate skiier. Thank you! Elton

    • @Snowtraxstore
      @Snowtraxstore  4 года назад

      Hello Elton, I am a similar build and would typically grab the 178 cm for all-round use. I would say I am intermediate to advanced and this works well for me. if you are a bit cautious or purely looking to stay on groomed runs or a couple of laps in the park then you could opt for the 171 cm. Hope that helps, thanks, Robert

    Hi, thanks a lot for the useful review. I also watched your review of the Salomon QST 92 and they seem quite similar is this right ? Which of the two do you recommend, what are the main differences ? I’m a woman looking for skis for piste and off piste (50/50), I am an advanced skier but like « easy » and fun skis that won’t require too much energy to control. Thanks!

    • @Snowtraxstore
      @Snowtraxstore  4 года назад +1

      Hello, Yes both the QST 92 and Captis are similar waist width skis that cover what you are looking for. The QST's are slightly more traditional in shape and mounting point - i.e. set back a bit. The Captis puts you a touch further forward which is good for those occasionally popping into the park or adding some playfulness on side hits. Both are quite light and have good forgiveness so the above is just the small difference I have picked up on personally. Both super fun and do not require much energy to control. QST slightly better edge hold in my opinion. Not much in it but hopefully that all helps, thanks, Robert

    Hi there! I'm looking to buy skis this season - favourite skis I've ever used are the scott slight 93s which I also saw your review of, wondering how these compare and what other skis are similar to scott slights. I do a lot of offpiste/heliskii but also need a ski that can be very fast on piste and that you can pop skifells on and do a bit of touring with (will only ever walk max 30 mins with them though so not a priority). Love the scott slights because they are so great and fast in powder and feel like they don't sink into the snow in tricky conditions (really good in crusty snow etc) but also very grippy and fast on piste, but they don't have them at the resort I'm at so I'm considering any alternatives. Any advice would be appreciated!

      just thought it was worth mentioning that a local ski shop recommended the atomic vantage 97 and head kore skis (can't remember underfoot width but they were the yellow ones) - how do these compare to the scott slights?

    • @Snowtraxstore
      @Snowtraxstore  4 года назад

      Hi, it'd be the Kore 93 with the yellow sidewalls. If you're looking for a powerful ski on the piste the Orb would be a better choice from Black Crows than the Captis, it's stiffer & offers more grip on the piste. However, from your brief I would be going for the Head Kore 93, it's light, you can charge around on it & works well in powder. Check out details here, including a video review www.snowtraxstore.co.uk/skis/4176-head-kore-93-ski-2020.html

    How about for tight trees and hard bumps that we have in New England off piste

    • @Snowtraxstore
      @Snowtraxstore  4 года назад

      Thanks for watching. The Captis is a very versatile ski, so copes well with tight trees & bumps. The main reason that we get such positive feedback, is the fact it's just a fun to ski on. If you're looking for a solid all round ski, then the Captis definitely a thumbs up option!

    How does this compare to the rossignol black ops 98 and line sick days 94?

    • @Snowtraxstore
      @Snowtraxstore  5 лет назад

      Hello Matt, Thanks for your enquiry. Both the Sick Day 94 and Captis are very versatile resort skis but for me carry a slight difference. The Sick Days had a playful tip with a more directional mounting location. I personally prefer the Captis which has a similar playfulness but the recommended mounting position is further forwards. This for me gave a more rounded feel that was more consistent wherever I decided to take it. For something with a more similar shape to the Sick Days but a more assured ride in the tip I would grab a set of Salomon QST's as they have really done a great job with the latest version of this ski. I haven't included the Black Ops 98 because we are starting to look at a very different ski compared to the other 2 and also I have not skied this particular ski. The closest thing in the Rossi range I have skied would be the Sin 7 but as I said before, starting to look at different style of ski at this waist width. Thanks, Robert

    Does it perfom fairly well at parks?

    • @Snowtraxstore
      @Snowtraxstore  4 года назад

      Hello, The Captis is a hugely capable ski that covers multiple terrains well. Jack who is a much better park skier than myself liked it but would not consider it over a Line / Faction / Armada. Other brands build skis that are more park focused whereas Black Crows is definitely backcountry originated. For a park and quality all-rounder I would either consider the Armada ARV 96 or Faction CT 1.0. Thanks, Robert

    how are they on piste concernig icy conditions?

    • @Snowtraxstore
      @Snowtraxstore  5 лет назад

      Thanks for watching our review! Like any ski in this class, the Captis is aimed to perform well in all conditions. If you want to compare it with a piste or race specific ski on ice, it's not quite going to offer quite the same performance, but it is pretty close. It has a good amount of side cut & you can really drive it through turns on piste, we've been impressed with just how well it works even on days with hard packed piste only. But, where the Captis really comes alive is the performance on varied terrain & conditions, it is just a fun ski to explore the whole mountain on! Hope this helps you make your decision, if you need more help then please get in touch. We have a demo here next Sunday if you're local & would like to try a set out?

      @@Snowtraxstore Thank you for your answer :) How would you compare the Captis to the Orb?

    • @Snowtraxstore
      @Snowtraxstore  5 лет назад +1

      @@srgrvy9248 The Orb is a more powerful piste performance ski. This will power though turns when you push it & give you the grip you're looking for on the ice. The double metal H shape construction underfoot is the secret behind the power. This does make it less playful than the Captis, so it depends what you're looking to get out of the ski?
