  • Classic Game Room HD reviews BURGERTIME for Atari 2600 VCS video computer system! What's time? No... not to get ill, it's time for Hamburgers! Juicy, plump, blocky hamburgers made Atari-style. Burger Time is a 1982 Data East arcade game that has millions of fans worldwide because of it's awesome gameplay and challenge. This Atari 2600 version loses much in translation, but still retains some elements that make gameplay fun. It's a lousy M-Network game cartridge but holds a challenging if somewhat abstract attempt to recreate Burgertime on the Atari. This is one retro arcade classic on the Atari 2600 that you can find cheap today and may want to add to your collection. Classic Game Room reviews old school games with the same passion that we eat hamburgers with onions, mayo, lettuce and ketchup!

    imagine my disappointment when I start working at a fast food and discover this is not how you make burgers!

      i worked for fast food too . but i DID make the burgers this way. step on the bottom bun and mush it. then stepped on the burger, mushed it. then lettuce and tomatos, mushed 'em. then top bun i stepped on , mushed it , wrapped it up , then gave it to customer. the key is to keep an eye on their face as they start to eat it while they sit in the dining area... oh and keep a guy with a mop on standby. teaches them not to try ordering a burger from 7-11 again🤪 well .... more like a 7- 11 / biker bar / panera bread / target

    I'm actually really impressed by that considering the limitations of the 2600. The graphics may be REALLY simplified, but the sound and music are amazingly acurate to the arcade version. LOVE CGR!

    Burgertime is also on the NES---pretty good version.
    Also, a new Homebrew exists called "Beef Drop" for the Atari 5200 &7800, available on Atariage's website. It's very good.
    For some reason, when I play Burgertime on my 7800, I have infinite lives--some kind of bug, which I've documented in my videos section here on RUclips.

    The intelliVision version was one of the most sophisticated versions. It was so good it came as a pack-in later on.

    The M-Network carts are all made by Mattel who is the same people that made the Intellivision. They just ported over their games to the Atari 2600 and stuck them in an Intellivision cart with an adapter on the end to fit into the 2600. That is why there is no artwork on the M-Network games. They also later made the games under INTV which look the same but have a white label instead of black. I'm not a fan of Dig Dug but I love Burgertime. The Colecovision port is one of my favorites.

    I wish I had this for the Atari 2600. I played the NES version and yeah this here is one of those plain black carts.
    I remember playing this for the NES at a friend's house way back in the day. I want this now for the Atari 2600.
    I remember finding a commercial of this on here and it was really funny. "..problem is the food is trying to make hamburger outta you." ha

    You'll be hard pressed to find a working original arcade machine now.
    This was Data East's first and only attempt at making an arcade machine that loads games via audio cassette. which they soon dumped as tapes wore out and took too long to load.

    I used play the crap out of this game when I was 12. I bought my first gaming console of my own from a yard sale. It was a 2600 with many games like Burgertime and Pit Fall. Some of my greatest memories were playing those games. The worse memory was it came with E.T. Yah what a horrible game that was it gave me nightmares.

    Intellivision's is the best. Coleco second. Coleco went with the vertical route which was authentic to the arcade (you lose a lot of the screen), while Intelli turned it into a horizontal game. Sorry, this 2600 version sucks--typical M Network crap.

  • @MikeGervasi
    @MikeGervasi 13 лет назад

    Terrible remakes like this one, Donkey Kong, and PacMan killed the Atari market (and the disastrous 5200 didn't help). However when Atari started out and was making original games like Warlords they were untouchable. But Colecovision arrived and was turning out much more faithful versions of arcade games and Atari couldn't compete.
