Some people might learn faster and others slower, depending on your abilities, methods, diligence, environment, etc. If you're living in a Chinese speaking area, are outgoing and often make an effort to speak to people, have a good teacher who corrects your mistakes, constantly consume content in Chinese, study a couple hours every day, and have some talent for learning languages, the average person in this situation would still take 2 years at the fastest to reach an advanced level. If you're very talented and diligent in study, perhaps a bit faster, but that's rare. If your conditions aren't that ideal, it will probably take at least 5 years. Anyways, this is not something that is out of reach. You can do it. You just need to be patient.
Hah yeah I studied japanese first. but in college I landed on chinese. So istopped learning japanese for a while to focus on chinese. now Im trying to get it back
