It's fitting that these were some of Douglass Watson's last scenes on AW before his passing. His scenes with Carmen Duncan's Iris were incredible! I forgot what a great show AW was back in the day!
A lot of soaps really need to have more scenes like this lasting 2 minutes or more. The events of Mac and Iris , and the history of AW was the writing the acting and more emotion.
You are right. Definitely a Emmy winning performance for both he and the actress who played Iris. As far as Douglass Watson was conserned though he had already won two emmys back to back in 1980 and 1981. As far as I am conserned there were more performances through the years that he should have won emmys for. This was as was said definitely one of those performances.
Iris saying that she "saved" Mac was delusional! Nothing could justify all of the pain and anguish she caused Mac and the Cory family with her Bennett Publishing take over attempt and sending Mac to jail! 😞
Mac acts like he's never heard of Iris ever being a bad girl before. Pffft. He knows her, and if he doesn't know her by now - it's because he hasn't wanted to. Which I guess in a way he is copping to.
Iris may have pulled more than her fair share of misdeeds that angered Mac, and he may have hollered and screamed at her, but, in spite of these things, Mac remained a loving and devoted father, so he was eventually able to come around and forgive her, and they moved on. Notice, he did not scream or holler here, but spoke with an initially devastated tone, that ended in a cold, and unloving indifference. This proves that Mac, even in his worst nightmare, didn't expect this from her. Don't forget, even Rachel, who never believed Iris's supposed reform, and had expected Iris to scheme against her, couldn't believe Iris's actions here.
I'm in awe of the tremendous acting that Another World produced...AMAZING! I miss this show!!!

Emmy worth of acting for both Douglass and Carmen.
These performances between Mac , Iris and Rachel were incredible.

Douglas Watson was a great actor.
Was this shortly before Douglas Watson passed? He was truly an amazing actor.
Adam B. Smith. Yes it was. Iris & Mac never got to make things right.

Would've loved to have seen beverlee McKinsey in that scene with Douglas watson.
That's Carmen Duncan right?
