Wow Tabitha these are awesome products & gorgeous project to use them on.
Im just about to buy a kiln, im in Australia, ive never bought one before, but i want it to be able to fire glass & pottery could you suggest a model that would be good for both & maybe explain what float means, that might sound silly, bcoz i assume it means the product floats on the surface without bleeding out too much, but im a true beginner 😊

Hi Austra, thank you for your comment. Unfortunately I can't suggest the kiln for both pottery and glass because I am only using glass but try searching for dual media kilns. Float is type of glass, is extremely smooth, distortion-free glass used in many window applications. We have a range of Float products, Bullseye 90COE products and Oceanside 96COE products on our website and those are different type of glass that can't be mixed together. Try searching about different type of glass that I mentioned and where you can find a glass sheet supplier that is near you, sometimes that defines which glass you are going to be using. There are people who are using all three types but good organization is the main key as they can't be mixed together.

Hi Tabitha. Thank you for another wonderful video. One question: does it matter which side of the float glass to apply your design?

Thank you for your question. We didn't really pay any attention in this project, but honestly I'm not an expert in float glass, so I would suggest you join some of the Float Glass Facebook groups. People there will be able to give you much better advice on float glass.

In the US what would I ask for to buy float compatible glass?

Tabitha, could you add water to your frit and glue mix to make if easier to squeeze? Would you have any unwanted effects?

Madeline Brownlee I don’t know, I don’t think it would help though.

In my experience water on the glass in kiln can cause glass to crack. If you mix water to glass powders to make slurry for tie die technique for example you want to make sure any excess water is wicked out (put tp over piece gently to wick) and I usually wait for it to be dry before firing. Some people mix aloe gel with powders to make squeezable from tube or we use some kind of plumbers gel in classroom that burns off.

Hello Tabitha, I am interested in the float glass products that you used in this video. I am currently in Qatar. Would they ship to me here?

Celine Talamantes I’ve no idea, I know TGK in Germany sell their glass and perhaps you could contact them and see if they will ship to you in Qatar. Good luck with it
