Angelina's soulful original rendition is one for the ages ! She always manages to make it her own in such a beautiful, wonderful exquisite way, but she always stays true to the original artist, one of her mentors. Elvis Presley. Many have said she looks like the embodiment of Priscilla Presley which I tend to agree with.! But it's her delivery of these lyrics in such a different and more meaningful way really show her true musical genius. Angelina was only 16 in this video and has sounded so much more than her years in all of her music since she was a little child of 6 years old. Angelina now is slowly gaining tremendous global recognition in all the different venues she's being invited to because she is a special, unique artist. I think this is her true identity to sing at these wonderful events and venues and bring new audiences to her music. But more importantly, showing her true colors of sincerity, compassion, humbleness, and a truly beautiful loving soul. This is who she is. This is why we love her and I'm sure this is why you love her too. Thank you so much for continuing on your wonderful Journey with our beautiful barefoot. Princess. From the very first words, the warmth, tone, passion and sweetness that Angelina manages to instill in this mythical song are truly incredible, you just wish the song was much longer. Her phrasing, backed by her wonderful use of breath and her peculiar jazz tone, always fascinates me and gives me chills every time, I love this absolutely amazing, so personal rewrite of this iconic song, with so many Elvis tribute details. Now it's a different song, but it's also the same, it still has that harmony, but somehow (in a way only Angelina can process) it's even more emotional, it's slower, but it's so close to your soul flow that kidnaps you. Her phrasing, backed by her wonderful use of breath, always fascinates me and gives me chills every time, despite the fact that she has listened to her hundreds of times. 💛🧡❤

Other than the recent Vegas concert where she sang 20 songs, a couple of days ago she also sang If I were a Boy with the song writer Toby Gag at the London Palladium. This performance is from about 2 years ago when Angelina was 16.
Angelina plays guitar and piano. She’s not a virtuoso on either instrument by any means but she accompanies herself on many of her Instagram and TikTok videos.
Some say she also plays violin and flute but I’ve never seen video of that. Maybe she had lessons on them at her music school when she was a young girl and didn’t keep it up.
The baby and very little girl are Angelina's cousins - the preteen girl is Angelina's sister Juliette and the Piano Player is Rob Christie Director of the Republic Records Los Angeles Studio which is the record label that Angelina has been signed with since she was 14 years old.
To start the song where Elvis abruptly stops and sings oh let our love survive is nothing short of genius.

Elvis was my all time favorite singer in the world and he was a great human being also.Then I discovered Angelina in 2020.She started covering elvis songs, I said to myself no way, I thought no man on the planet can cover Elvis how can a little girl from Norway cover him. Well She did, After she was done with each Elvis cover ,I said to myself.That was actually better than Elvis. For those who do not know: 😇🌸 At 16. Released June 22, 2022. By August, 2023, 4.6 Million views on RUclips alone. Angelina starts off with the bridge, completely different from anyone else; and then, begins with the opening line of the song. Her beehive hairdo, is in the homage to Priscilla...many photographs of her hair exactly like that. And a leather outfit he later wore. The guitar is the Elvis 1968 "Comeback" Guitar. Rob Christie actually owns this one. The two young cousins, are Uncle/Manager Michael's children. The young girl is her sister, Juliette. Angelina had a framed photo of Elvis in the Service, at the location. Such respect. Rob Christie is on the piano. The pianist Rob Christie (music studio director of Republic Records distribution of UMG, two-time Grammy winner) changed the musical arrangement and Angelina changed the vocal arrangement, but she didn't change the lyrics. Angelina changes the lyrical structure starting with the bridge and gives the song a different meaning than Felton Jarvis and Mark James , Angelina version absolutely fits the lyric better. Once again, many people don't hear and understand the song until Angelina tells the story. 👣 💯 *AJ* 💯👣
The producer Felton Jarvis from Elvis Presley cleverly covered this *Mark James song from 1968 in 1969* , Elvis' last #1 hit in the US and #7 of his most successful songs. Felton Jarvis took the original country arrangement completely from Mark James and pushed the song with more speed and additional instruments (wind instruments, violin etc.) and a spectacular backing choir (in the studio version). 🤗🤗

As a child she learned violin flute guitar and piano. Now she plays guitar and piano. The first vocal coach stressed to Angelinas parents her natural tone should not be messed with. She had lessons in protecting her voice and breath control. I think thats why her runs are so unique. They are more instrumental.
My interpretation of the symbolism of this music video: First, and foremost; Angelina Jordan at 16 is the epitome of a Storytelling ARTIST, and she has the ability to take us by the hand and lead us down an imaginary path that we visualize as reality. The remarkable fact is that we experience this in each of her performances. In this video we see her as a married woman in her mid to late 20s. As the video starts out, we see dishes, and it is a symbol of a home. As AJ sings the phrase “Were caught in a trap, I can’t walk out” we see 3 small children, this to me is a marriage where the children come first. If it were AJ by herself, she would not stay in a relation without trust. (CopyRight)

Angelina plays guitar and piano - she plays them offen on her tiktoks and instagrams - she uses them as practice tools and with her songwriting.
Angelina makes you understand the lyrics in a way the original artists never tried to do. And she does that with a mesmerizing voice here. It’s such a beautiful tribute to Elvis, but it’s completely Angelina. The video is spectacular: visually, musically, aesthetically, and vocally. Angelina is the best singer I’ve ever heard-no qualifications or reservations.

Lucie, Great reaction but I was not sure if you were familiar with the original Elvis song. Angelina slowed down a rock type song to a ballad and transformed the emotion you feel. With Angelina's version, it is the first time that many actually hear the lyrics and the story of the song. Genius! I would highly recommend that if you are not familiar with a cover song, that you listen to the original first. The impact for your reaction will be much greater and you will have a basis from which to compare Angelina's version. That actually would apply to any featured artist. Thanks for all you do.
