#8 is incorrect. The Civil War was fought over the issue of slavery. Period. "States rights" were an issue only as it pertained to upholding the institution of slavery, and expansionism was an issue only because the slaveholding states wanted to make states that were entering the union into slaveholding states also. It was all about slavery: putting slavery at the end of a list of other issues is whitewashing history.
@@stevewzorn People tend to forget that the Emancipation Proclamation didn't apply to the border states of Maryland, West Virginia, Kentucky, and Missouri. The Union's position was precarious enough and Lincoln wasn't going to rock the boat with these states. Had Maryland seceded, Washington DC would have surely fallen. As matters stood, enemy territory was right across the Potomac.
Let me tell your why I think this is a stupid The question what was the first capital of the United States, and they put a city in Austin and Chicago, From two states that were not among The 13 original colonies the least they should’ve done here was to put Philadelphia and Washington DC but Austin Texas and Chicago Illinois?
#8 has an incorrect answer. The Vice President of the confederacy, Alexander Stephens, said himself that "slavery and white supremacy were not only the cause for secession, but also the “cornerstone” of the Confederate nation". The states rights notion is weak, and if one was to make the argument about states rights then it was about the states rights to own slaves. The first president (Abraham Lincoln) of a party that was specifically created by people who were anti-slavery gets elected to office, and then "coincidentally" there was a secession of states of which were all states where slavery was legal. And " Coincidentally" they decide to start a war because of states rights??? 😂😂 Thats not even logical. Its like when I say I go to the strip club for the food. no ones believing it
My great great grandfather was a Union officer who lived to be 99. He said to his grave the war was mostly fought over states rights. The North regularly blocked the South on their international trading and how the South should live. If slavery was the main issue why did 25 percent of Union troops try to dessert because they weren't fighting to free the negros but to save the Union. And you need to know slavery continued in the North for 10yrs after the war

@@usafvet100 This is a good take on what actually happened. People tend to seriously misinterpret Union/lincoln's intentions with that.
